Would be great if you did some follow up videos explaining what the outcome of your snagging is to give people an idea what they should be expecting if they find these shocking defects!

In house snagging by site managers and the companies own snagging teams is like doing your own MOT you can imagine what the roads would be like with dangerous cars that's why independent mechanics do them it should be the same with house inspection

Im a wall & floor tiler & have come across so much bad workmanship on new homes .

Could you do a video on how they should correct these problems? Brick work out of plumb etc..
They could try using a level when laying the bricks...
I suspect there will be some money paid back to the customer for issues like brickwork be to much hassle to correct
Knock it down and try again
They sometimes pull the houses down and rebuild them if they're so bad. Happened to a few around Bicester

If that internal collar is up against the wall it's ok Ideal boiler flues don't have to be sealed
I once worked on a site with a bloke who didn't even bother sneaking up into the loft to drink his apple juice, he just went out to his car parked around the corner. End of lunch break he'd wander back on the job looking like he'd been teargassed. Didn't take long for the foreman to catch on and give him his marching orders.
Keep up the good work on the snagging fails, always a good laugh (unless you're the proud new owner).

I thought he was talking about finding a bong up there, the bloke I mentioned liked to choof in his car on lunch break then he'd come back to site looking well wrecked.
At McDonalds here in Australia they sell these little pop-top apple juice bottles for the kids, I've found more than one with the old bit of garden hose stuck in the side on building sites etc. so you can see how the confusion arose... cheers ;)
I think whoever signed these off wants the boot. Sure, the tradies should do a good job, but there's no point having QC if it doesn't QC.
They can't give him the boot, the fencing guys got it for his level 😂

I would use toilet paper to fill around the flue only if it's fire rated.

I had a gas safe engineer fit my new boiler flu incorrectly. He always promised to return and fix it. Gas safe in Basingstoke was not interested. A few Other plumbers didn’t want to put it right in case there had was on it with other things wrong. (Don’t blame them really) eventually I had to pay for a complete inspection and repair as that was the only way a guy was willing to put his name to it. Gas safe as a trade body is shit. Pointless crap.
New eco homes build 💯% biodegradable, only snag is the mortgage will last longer than the home!

Seriously the standards are pathetic, using completely unskilled workers or so called tradesmen who either can't do the work or have no standards I guess is to blame. Where does NHBC fit I to the equation? Home owners should be taking these developers to court.. standards HAVE to change

I think the problem (and a major industry wide one...) is that there a very few and far between qualified and experienced tradesmen being employed on these new build sites... When I served my apprentiship (carpenter / joiner) many years ago, you were taught how to take pride in your work...and if you did a shit job, an old chap would smarten you up... And you new what was a good or bad job... Them days have sadly gone (but not all!!) and there are many 'chancers' and corrupt/cowboy's suppling unskilled labour and or semi-skilled at best! 🥴

Another great video, but I have to say the standard of much of this workmanship is appalling! Clearly no pride being taken in their work and let's not forget these are houses people will be paying hundred's of thousands of pounds for!! Disgusting!
Surely there has to be a point where there's some buyer protection and the homeowners can sue for this appalling quality workmanship.

It makes you wonder just who they use for these trades! Who, seriously, WHO would use bog roll to block up a gap around the cavity vent on a boiler? Utter disgrace to the trade.
I want to laugh, but also find it so sad! People have worked hard to save up for a home and they get completely shafted by profiteering fuckers!! I feel the responsibility lies with the developers more than the tradespeople
What companies are responsible for the construction of these houses and how has there not been lawsuits for what’s literally fraud and false advertising from what I understand you come in before purchases are made and do inspections? I hope you do people don’t deserve to possible die because a wall falls or the roof goes flying off truly shocking

Been on loads sites they are a joke in most been on electric and stairs and chip board floor before roof even on ans sealed not good with weather in UK not good anyway brick work then roof and windows water tite before anything else so I thought 😉

01/11 22 These issues are rarely featured in the National or Local press - Builders spend big with them on advertising which they don't want to loose. Surveyors overlook same issues at Final Inspection too allowing release of funds by Lenders with lending & related sales targets & Buyer's occupation of structurally suspect property as demonstrated in the video. Buyers in a chain will have to accept defects at Financial Completion with nowhere else to live. Builders are aware of these, for them, advantageous loopholes. The system perpetuates increasing decline of building standards.

Developer has to give the house free of charge.
