We can become healthy, stretch & meditate 100% without Yoga. Christianity is not taking worldly things & redeeming it for Christ. We are to be in the world & not of it. Jesus never practiced Yoga. Please use scripture & Jesus as your example. We are to follow those who follow Christ. Yoga practitioners do not follow Christ. They mix truth with deception, which is what Satan is master at. Let’s wake up & be mindful of God & not world-ful.

And did Jesus celebrate Christmas? No, he neither celebrated his birthday (which may not have been 25th December anyway), nor the pagan mid-winter festival. But perhaps it is something wonderful that earlier Christians claimed (redeemed?) the holiday for their own.

Yoga is 100% spiritual and religious. Its background, its foundations, its meaning - all of it are very clear. I stretch every single day but have no desire to do a yoga class ever again.

So stretching your body in a certain way is off limits to Christians??? I’ve never taken a yoga class , but it seems to me… like you said .. stretching is not off limits . So how are we allowed to stretch in a way that it’s acceptable ( sorry I know you wrote this awhile ago. I just have questions and don’t know who to ask)

Being a south Asian Christian, seeing the state of western Christians actually saddens me. This is our culture yet we still don’t partake in it because we KNOW that it does not align with the Word of God, you can argue all you want but it won’t change. If anything it’s disrespectful to NOT call it a religious Hindu practice, that’s cultural appropriation.
Plus is yoga really worth disputing and fighting against your own brothers and sisters in Christ??

A thoughtful and intelligent reply, Pastor Mark! So the inner heart and intent with which one does the outer practice is the key, it seems. And thanks for pointing out that meditation, far from being an exclusively eastern practice, has a long and hallowed history within Christianity itself. And the footage that you showed of that Hindu priest in the beginning was nice and refreshing - and the fact that you didn't cut it down or trash it out of hand was also thoughtful and considerate.

I’d like to offer another perspective. So many Christians are afraid of yoga. God is all powerful, He can use anything to hunt you down and capture your heart. I have a deeply religious and legalistic Aunt who wouldn’t speak to me because I taught Yoga. It made me hate Christianity. Ironically though, I found Jesus because of yoga, I just had no idea that it was Him who was speaking to me and working on my heart. I taught Yoga for years and I was deep within the occult and He found me on the yoga mat and changed my life. I was so disconnected from myself that getting quiet allowed me to hear His voice and connect to the Holy Spirit. After learning about Jesus and reading the Bible, It did make me realize that New Age and Hinduism is still very much a part of the Yoga culture but you can approach the practice of Yoga movement without that. There are still teachers who teach about manifestation and all of that in class which isn’t biblical. But culture doesn’t control me. Just because someone else believes something doesn’t mean I believe it too. I still love stretching and moving my body. Jesus has already won, I think the fear gives so much more power to the evil one. The war has already been won. Jesus has the victory.

    • @jamie01an
      @jamie01an 3 роки тому +11

There needs to be a distinction made. There is Yoga movement and then there are the Yoga Sutras. Yoga movement was created to help keep the body from getting stiff when sitting in meditation. The yoga sutras is a doctrine. The sutras are not biblical but they are deeply routed in Hinduism. So yes, that’s not biblical. Now, some postures are named after different gods because a person, a mere person/mortal not a God, decided to call it those things for memorization and dedication for their* religion. Just because you name something doesn’t mean it is in fact that now and forever. So every-time you are in “Tadasana” - mountain pose - aka STANDING you are now worshipping another God? Like what? Literally there are movements you take every single day or would do just to stretch, example like touching your toes, or doing a lunge or a quad stretch that has been given a name in a different language in a whole other culture. So you won’t ever touch your toes and give your hamstrings a stretch because they do it in yoga? That’s complete insanity. To me that’s worshipping fear and giving something else so much power over your life more than trusting in the one true God and His power over your life.

I am surprised as to the number of responses of people who think yoga is a danger to Christians. First, yoga is not a temptation. It is very hard and very uncomfortable, so it would not be a stumbling block to a weaker christian as some have said. Thank You for this post! How many Christians who hate yoga have no trouble going for a massage with nothing but a sheet covering their rear and letting some stranger rub their body all over and have no conviction whatsoever? Or how many go into an establishment whose primary sales product is liquor, ie , a bar, because they have good burgers, eat a burger and leave a tip and think nothing of it? Hypocrites! I am a spirit filled Christian and I know if I want a good stretch to relieve muscle tension from my physical work and workouts without someone putting their hands on me , then a yoga class is just what the doctor ordered. Just like there are some bars you wouldn’t go into because they are full of demons and disgusting, there are some yoga studios I wouldn’t go into because they are clearly propagating Eastern religion. Most of them really are just promoting health, something most people I see at church know little about. I have been to several over the years, in different states, and not once was I invited to meditate or learn about Hinduism. I’m sure if you go to their retreats and stuff it might be different. If I know my occasional yoga class may stumble a brother, I avoid the topic. But do not take away my freedom to stretch until you come up with an alternative that is as effective as a good yoga class. I feel like a million bucks after hot yoga especially, better than a massage and sauna put together. Btw, wasn’t Jesus condemned for hanging out with sinners and winebibbers? Pretty sure He would hang out in a yoga studio if that’s where the sinners were hanging!

I always focus on God and praise Him for my body and health when exercising/stretching. I was amazed at how much it helped my mental health, joy, peace and gave me a better mind, body, spirit connection. I also liked how pastor acknowledged the body being the temple of God. So many are drinking and eating sugar which affects the brain just as cocaine does and polluting their bodies and minds. The more I care for my body the more clear my mind is to connect with my Father in Heaven. That's been my own experience.

The issue at hand though is that yoga is inherently a spiritual practice hijacked by western culture to be simply “stretching.” We battle against the principalities of the world. What may seem innocent isn’t entirely innocent. I would rather not test out the waves when I can stay on the ship. Every action you take matters to the Lord, we’re called to be sanctified and holy in all practices. Of course it won’t be perfect at first, but as long as we work towards sanctification, your rewards in heaven will be great.

    • @desertrose0601
      @desertrose0601 11 місяців тому

But if you’re not practicing the spiritual component, moving your body in a certain way isn’t inherently meaning anything.
This same argument could be used to say that anyone who kneels and bows their head are automatically worshipping and praying to the Christian God. The issue is pursuing a philosophy to fill your soul. That’s what would be wrong, not the physical act of stretching your body. We incorporate lots of physical reminders into Christian worship too (kneeling, crossing oneself, bowing your head, lighting a candle, etc), doesn’t make those things mystically Christian for even people who aren’t practicing that religion.

I say this with respect and concern for the church this man leads.
This man is a pastor? His main point was that we should, as Christians redeem practices of the world for Christ. If we were to apply this idea to other practices, it wouldn't hold up.
Right now is yoga. What are we going to allow ourselves to "redeem" later? Should we redeem swearing for Christ? Should we then redeem witchcraft for Christ?
I mean it sounds like he is only trying to justify a weirdly practice and cater to the peopl who follow him instead of saying the truth. The truth is there are many things we should stay away from in this world. Romans 12:2 says to, "not conform to the pattern of this world.."
As a pastor he should know better because this way of thinking will only encourage his followers to participate more and more in worldly practice and being like the world instead of sanctifying yourself and being seperated from the world.

If the mind is enlightened and the heart is pure any path will get you to the realms of heavenly peace and love. If you enter the path to carnal desires and raging emotions then your soul and spirit suffers. Jesus said, "I am in the Father and the Father is in me", "I and the Father are one", and "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me". Now that is yoga according to Jesus.

Pastor Mark is the man! That being said I completely disagree. I think this runs more along the lines 1 Corinthians 8: food sacrificed to idols. We are to be careful that exercising our freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak. Yoga is very similar to food sacrificed to idols (it is stretching sacrificed to idols). The problem is not with the stretching and the healthy aspects of exercise, nor is it a problem for a person with a strong faith to differentiate between serving God and other masters, the problem is that by condoning yoga the weaker man in Christ may be seduced by the spiritual promises of yoga and drawn away from Christ. We have an epidemic of universalism invading Christianity and participating in yoga is an enabler to this. In my opinion this is where the Church should maintain a counter culture position in order to protect our brethren.

THE TRUE RESURRECTION AND OTHER FALSE RESURRECTIONS. END TIME SPIRITUAL BATTLE IN INDIA VIDEO.
Many years ago when I was a youngster and had many indiscriminate reading habits, I read anything that came to my hands. I advise Christian parents to pre-censure reading and viewing material for their progeny.
At that time in the early 1970's, a book on yoga came into my possession. This book was "The Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahansa Yogananda. In this extensive autobiography, the Hindu mystic, Mavatar Babaji the false Christ of India. raised a man from the dead. I often wondered about this for years. I later on - through spiritual discernment - discovered that these Indian mystics did not resonate with Jesus Christ or the God of the Bible (Genesis 1: 1). In 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 it reads - "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light."
There is heaven and hell which they do not explain. Thousands of people are having outer-body-experiences and near-death-experiences of heaven and hell, yet these mystics bypass it completely. They are having them all through youtube and the books that are written about it are voluminous. The Bible talks more about hell than heaven, and Jesus says that there is no reincarnation for the Christian. The Bible states that it is appointed once to die, after death then the judgement (Hebrew 9: 27). There is only salvation through Jesus Christ. His blood cleanseth us of all unrighteousness. I believe is was Sri Yukteswar that said salvation come thought self effort. No, that is not right, it is through the blood bought death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is not by self-effort, it is by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross (Ephesians 2: 8)
In a video, there was an occurrence when this Hindi Guru performed a miracle similar to Jesus. When the person died the soul wandered on earth and the demons involved made it return to the body when the Guru gave it life. They are able to perform counterfeit resurrections, great miracles and healings many under the power of demonic principalities. Sai Baba and MaAvatar Babaji are able to materialize objects out of thin air and affect teleportations. Some are able to materialize and dematerialize into thin air. Read "The Latent Power of the Soul" by Chinese Christian author Watchman Nee. They do this to win souls to their false religion of Hinduism with 330 million gods (Fallen angels).
In the presence of two Christian missionaries, this did not work for the dead woman went to hell. She could not be resurrected by the Guru because God did release the woman from hell. It was only when the Christian missionaries prayed that she was able to return to her body. This was the true resurrection in Jesus Christ. Remember what Jesus said: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live (John 11: 25). Remember that the magicians of the pharaoh were able to turn their rods into snakes. But Moses' snake eat up the other snakes.
Jesus requires a life of holiness (Leviticus 19: 2) and constant repentance (Acts 3: 19). Sanctification was thrown out of the window long time ago in the churches. It has to be practiced for it gives you power. Prayer also raises your voltage, fire and gives you power as well.
Yes, Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life. Only every born again Christian has the resurrection Spirit in Him. In 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17 your dead bodies will be recreated, upgraded and glorified and be taken to heaven by Jesus (1 Corinthians 15: 52). Remember that Jesus' blood washes you of all sin (Hebrew 9: 22). Reincarnation goes against the Rapture and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.7075

I agree that stretching is good but we do have to be careful with yoga as a lot of the poses and things are worshipping other gods. There is a line with yoga that as Christians we don't want to cross or we are actually opening ourselves up to the demons. Meditation is good as well but not emptying our minds as they practice in yoga. We are to meditate on God's word.

I don't think there is a need to be so conservative. Jesus was great and we believe that, but blaspheming some of the most Ancient Sadhanas of the yogis is complete delusion of its understanding. Paganism is not Hinduism and Hinduism is not demonic. The concept of demon is equivalent to the internal lust, greed, anger, envy, attachment, ego, etc. which is needed to be conquered. Meditation is the means to see Parmatma(God) in heart. Asanas simply comforts meditation of God. There are several Brahmavidyas like Akshividya and Gajarvidya attached to it.
Hinduism or what we call Sanatan Dharma is very deep. It becomes awful if you view Hinduism by the eyes of Christianity.

This is a poor understanding of Yoga and a poor use of Scritpure (which he didn't cite). The 2 Kings reference he vaguely mentioned has nothing to do with Christians being able to redeem pagan worship. You'd be hard-pressed to find anything in the Biblical text that ever shows that it was okay to take on other religions' practices and "redeem" them. Time to get our facts straight both regarding what Yoga is and what the text actually says. Also, if you're going to use the Bible to make a point, at least cite the text and give good Biblical exegesis for what you're defending. The use of that 2 Kings text was a great example of eisegesis, not exegesis. (see 2 Kings 5:15-19 to see what he tried to use to defend the idea of Christians "redeeming" other religious practices.)

Wowwww. You are way off on this, Mark. God: Israel, don’t do the practices of the nations around you.
Mark: Do the practices of the nations around you. There’s no harm in that.

You mean like track and field and the olympics which were worship of zeus? Or do you mean Christmas and Easter which were pagan holy days?

I thought your video was pretty good, until you began to speak as if the people who are not fans of yoga are just mad about people stretching. Whether it's right or wrong to do yoga, that part was intentionally missing the point because it's pretty obvious that's not the issue at hand

Christians should not be doing yoga, 1 Corinthians 10:21-22 you cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. Shall we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
And we are to meditate on Gods word day and night. Christians meditation is reading Gods word.

Plant a garden? Are you kidding?!
Do you tell your followers that they are sinners in need of a Savior? Christ. Do you always point the finger at some so there is no accountability on your end? To others that do not eat the way you say and are not lazy and already have a garden, you are bearing false witness against.

All religions are wrong if you use yoga without any religious connection to it ur fine magic and God's aren't real.

Pastor Mark, I do not agree. In the Holy Bible God says that you cannot serve Mammon and God. Yoga classes, poses are all bowing down to their gods. There is only one God Almighty. God says in the Holy Bible that we are not to worship other idols, in yoga this is what everyone is doing bowing down to worship their Hindu gods of Shiva. That is an abomination to the Lord Jesus Christ. Think about that and repent. That is very dangerous to say that it is okay as long as you have Jesus in your mind but still practice yoga that bows down to other gods?

Do not lead your followers astray. As Christians, we should not do yoga under any circumstances. Stretching is fine but practicing yoga is to be yoked with Hindu gods (which are falling angels). Any other religion that does not believe that Jesus Christ is their savior and he died and was resurrected on the third day is indeed a false religion. We must wake up & stop chasing things that do not align with God. You cannot serve two masters.

Can you enlighten me about what poses do yoga poses that are associated with Hindu Gods.
How can you say other religions are False?

I love how you mention that meditation is found in Christian roots. Some people seem to forget this. It is all about what you mediate on. Jesus also redeemed so many things. I have seen some beautiful Christian yoga that does the same thing. There is no way that a demon can sneak up on you while stretching. So many Christians forget about the part of the Bible that speaks about taking care of our bodies. Thank you.

Your belief is wrong. This is a trick of Satan. The reality is not like you think. Jesus is the only true way and all other ways are making you astray. There it could be true. All different ways may take you to the same pseudo god.
