My wife has been trying to get her Emerald Amethyst deck going but struggling. We don’t have the diablos but we could make this work hopefully. Thanks for the great deck tips!
@@JaysBucket the core concept of the deck can definitely make it happen without diablo. Diablo just helps keep the pressure on. I lost to my buddy running this deck when I was playing ruby/ame because even though I was destroying his guys he was drawing just as much as I was & putting more lore pressure on.
@Allhailrich1501 I would probably play a 3rd library & a couple more one drops. He's mostly there to grab you a couple points of lore & a couple draws & you could do a similar thing with those subs. You could go 2 more cursed merfolk or maybe a couple brooms. I'd probably still leave the 2 1 drop diablo in because the hand view is good & sometimes people will use targeted removal on them thinking you're gonna shift.
@laurawilson7576 thanks so much, personally I love the two cost flynn & I've played with him in some decks in the current meta & it's just rough. He dies to a LOT of the direct removal right now & the value just doesn't feel as good as with merfolk since he's costing you two instead of 1. Merfolk wasting their removal feels better due to the cost differential if that makes sense...sometimes I feel like my written explanations are not as good lol. 😆 🤣
@drorios8864 you would with diablo in the deck ironically lol. My suggestion for replacing 3 drop diablo was 1 additional library plus a couple more 1 drops to take advantage of it. Honestly diablo hasn't been as big in the Meta so it's not something I focused on teching against. This deck is more concerned with questing out while slowing them down & replacing your characters through card draw. Kit cloudkicket can help slow them down & bounce diablo at least.
@drorios8864 that's honestly surprising to me, if he's more prevalent in your local meta you could play more kit cloudkicker maybe, especially if they are shifting him that would lock them down pretty good. Or pascal/crab
@NickRondo exactly, especially when you compare it to a lot of other 5 or 6 drop cards in the meta. It just doesn't really hold up at the moment, who knows though, if reckless gets really good in the future he could come back around...not like TeKa who will probably always be bad. 😆 🤣
@NickRondo that is true about singing but one neat thing about it is it also says they cannot quest which is interesting. So even if they don't have a legal target for challenge they still aren't allowed to quest which I think is an often overlooked feature of the mechanic
@kauisurfer13 crab & cri-kee were both in the mix before cuts & ultimately I decided to focus on questing & drawing replacements over too much worrying about challenging & I honestly think it worked out in this instance. You mainly need to be able to take out early game characters & snake, Banzai & fox do that well enough.

Great deck. I agree with a lot of these cards but what about the green Flynn? Not sure what id replace though.

Any substitute for diablo? A little too rich for my blood. Also hiw do we get rid of their diablo since we have no evasives in the deck?

I don’t think the interaction with Lyle and be prepared is correct. I think Lyle needs to be on board to trigger his lore loss effect, sadly.
