When I lived in Louisiana (Grand Isle). I was always terrified that I would come down the steps (our house was on pilings) and find a gator under my steps. About a 6 year old did a death roll in a shrimp net after hurricane Katrina and made my huge dog pee all over himself. So is there a way for all of your families check their ponds? Tell Jake to not swim. I've always wondered if they showed up on your property from the river. Maybe Alex is the one that got the goose. Scary.

As an Australian I found your reaction hilarious. It was just a baby, even this 52yo suburban woman would have been able to deal with that tiny thing. Also thinking that it couldn't get out of that little bit of water was a mistake, if it is anything like a crocodile they have amazing muscles in their tails and would have been able to look up over the edge with little effort.
