The war ended in 1918 and Stubby died in 1926.
I highly doubt if they picked something to be historically inaccurate about it will be killing the lovable puppy for no reason.

There needs to be a balanced response about war with entertainment directed at children, especially at impressionable ages. The facts of this terrible war is not a cause for celebration but for warning of the great waste that war represents. WWI is a perfect example of the terrible loss of life that took place and also the acknowledgement that the United States ' late entry into the war was very controversial in Europe both delayed by a massive anti-war sentiment that existed in the U.S. at the time and the feelings from allied countries that America waited out the worse casualties before entry. Children need the truth of war, not stories about heroic puppies.
NNOMY web you obviously don’t know anything about how important it was to have a dog in the war. Without war dogs, the soldiers wouldn’t know when to duck and cover whenever shell bombs and bullets came to hit the soldiers. And you know what? I’m glad they came up with this animated movie about a true story of an American war dog hero! My reason of being glad is because also, without war dogs, the soldiers would probably be scared all the time! At least with war dogs such as Sergeant Stubby he was able to teach the soldiers the importance of how to be brave. Even though I’ve never been in the army or in the war, I’ve seen a lot of war movies where the soldiers were scared for their life and they would cower in a corner. So, in my opinion to your comment is that you need to educate yourself on war dogs and not judge this animated movie. There actually is a balanced response about war with entertainment directed at children at impressionable ages. For example, yes it was a horrible war back then. I’ve read about in history books about how horrible it was, but at the same time, if they hadn’t added the dog in this movie then it would just be teaching the children about how horrible the war was. The dog was part of the entertainment. And you know what? Without war dogs, soldiers wouldn’t know what it takes to look after someone else. And in conclusion, what you just commented didn’t really make all that much sense. Have a nice day though. 👌✊

This looks like pro war propaganda for kids
Shame they made such an amazing story into a garbage animation that looks like it's half-a-comedy. Hope they make this story into a real movie. Maybe like War Horse. The trailer looks like shit and I'm sure the movie will fall flat delivering the real message and honoring the real Sgt Stubby. Stubby deserves better.
