Re testing to see if a user can port forward port 25 might be easy enough in the router, but then to see if the port is actually open requires a device on the inside to actually be listening to port 25, else any test will fail. That should have been mentioned and a solution provided.
Wanting a basic, low use personal setup. Is ExitDNS required? Wanting to eliminate Microsoft365 expense for this one domain (paying for 3 others, more important domains), not wanting to just "pay someone else". Loving the series..... on to 4!
Promises promises...you said all 5 scenarios eventually. Did you ever do anything but scenario 3? Or are the others covered fully in the 4 videos? One to go, guess I'll find out.
Can you please clarify a "Non Nat" and "Non CGNAT" router? I have an Asus RT-AX92U Router How do I determine if it falls into this category or not? Thanks.
So why do you keep saying a dynamic IP? Thought it was a lot better and easier with a static IP? And why the 2 outside services? Kinda defeats the purpose a bid doesn't it? Can we just provide that ourselves?
Fan of willie howe's stuff, but this seems a bit convoluted, wouldnt a cheaper/simpler solution be fire up a linode shared $5 p/m VM or more, install mail-in-a-box , setup ptr record at linode... job done :)
@@WillieHowe @Willie Howe proof is in the pudding i suppose! Later this week, i'll be setting one up for a friend who is moving away from the so called "free for life" gmail before it goes to paying. The guide at mailinabox seems straighforward, with a final "swish of a curl command" ....time will tell :)
Sounds like a fun project.

Ack... Want part 4 ASAP... Lol this is like a cliff hanger.
Is there a rack mounted NAS from Synology that you would recommend using to host your email service?

Will this also work with Amazon Simple Email Service?
