Poor Missy - so swollen, so painful. Breaks my ❤ to see a horse walk when they are so hurt. But, I know it's necessary, esp. after the warm Epson Salt bath. It helps the pus & poison flow down & out. My OTTB had 1 abcess & after the bath 2 X day, I walked him up & down the barn twice, then packed hole with Ichyhamol & put soft cotton on sole, then custom made boot. When Vet came back about 5 days later, he was shocked & said he had never seen an abcess heal that fast. 10 days stall rest was a trial for him & kept boot on in pastures for total of 3 weeks. He never developed another one, T.G. I absolutely Love Polo ponies!!! They are such incredible athletes - smart, fast & in order to compete, at a super high fitness levels. Not to mention 'sane' - having a swinging mallet whiz by their heads & not being bothered... is amazing. So sorry to see this about Missy. It's a lot of time & work but so glad you caught it when you did.
Cellulitis sucks! My mare had some earlier this year from a mystery injury, thankfully the swelling usually comes down and heals in a fair amount of time. Sending you guys healing thoughts!
poorthing! i had a simular thing last year. i had a cut on my heel and a few days later i felt horrible and had bad fever for 3 days. and even had to go to the hospital for 1,5 weeks. but it only got so bad because i kept ignoring feeling bad until i couldnt anymore lol. took antibiotics for 3 weeks because the skin on my leg was inflamated and my leg was swollen aswell. i hope she gets better soon!
she's a good girl with that bucket. My boy is so good and I never expected to have a fight soaking his foot one time!! never was able to. I think he needs one of the boot type that you put on and pour into ;) that was interesting to watch I learned something. Wish her a fast recovery!! Is she EATING now?
She such a good patient hope she gets better soon sending her big hugs
