Watching Your video, it looks like Your using PVC piping... for hot water - that could be trouble... as chemicals could leech into Your water. A special type of tubing called C-PVC is intended for that... or better yet... Red pex tubing.
I get it... learning as You go You learn what You did not know before... I just want You to have a safe system for years to come... please check Your piping to make sure it's safe for Hot water, and potable water... if it is.... Keep on enjoying that solar heated goodness.

I like the idea of heated flooring using solar collectors. The cost of heating with forced air heat pumps in the southeast US gets very expensive since our homes and systems are designed for the cooling season. If I could run 100F heat through my floor for a few hours a day in the winter I wouldn't even have to turn on the heat pump. And year round to supplement showers, coffee, cleaning and dishes. A single direct super hot (160) faucet would be nice for coffee. Maybe a lockout for that to keep kids away.
Heat pipe collector can be used for Floor Heating. You can install as many as you can on your roof if you have enough space.

Is the angle of the tubes based on location, or is it just that way because that was just the angle of the stand that came with the unit?
it comes like that but as far as I understand based on the research I've done it has that particular angle so that The water circulates best inside the tank of course heat rises so having the tubes at a certain angle can cause a circulation inside the system
of course it gets the water boiling at some point so I'm not sure exactly what the fluid dynamics are when that happens but that's definitely a good question if you find out anymore about it that would be interesting to hear thanks!! a good question

To use the mixer, do you need both cold and hot to be at same pressure?
it definitely seems to help it work correctly.
it often seems if the pressures are dissimilar the volume of mixed water is reduced
Just put a gate valve on the cold feed and close it slightly to equalise pressures.
Where are you located? I live in east Idaho, would I get enough sunlight for this to be efficient?
I did this project in the Dominican republic.
they still work in the fare North just maybe not quite as effectively in the winter time when the sun angle is not as good and there isn't quite as much sunlight

It's a very good system, very efficient, unfortunately the similar system I wanted was very expensive with I think 4 tubes. I asked for more tubes, they wanted $500.00 per tubes. I walked away from it

Has anyone here connected one to a geothermal heat pump? And if so, how did it perform in winter conditions?
I haven't tried that but it sounds like it could work well !!
Does it work literally every day or did u have a time period of no hot water at all?
We use it every day for multiple showers and all of the other hot water needs and have never run out of hot water yet !!! So still loving it !!
I have had a few issues with the hot water booster pump flow sensor not always wanting to work I may have to upgrade that
So that works 24/7 and haven’t had any problems with keeping to heat at all?
Because the tank is insulated so well as well as the glass tubes being insulated you have 24 hours of Hot water 💦
It's always hot you can take a shower first thing in the morning and is still burning hot 🥵.

@@adamtain7627 it can storage warm water up to 50-70 hours, but in winter this falls dramatically, i would guess.

If you don't need as much hot water as it can produce you can always cover over some of the tubes

I was talking to the Rheem company that makes hot water heaters back a few weeks ago and apparently they make solar hot water heaters as well but they're a little bit hard to find on their website is what the guy I was talking to said The one I'm using is more from Mexico but I think made in China

Air vent is too high. I suggest you to use assistant tank on the top.

Dang how did you get that system for $300, cheapest I've seen is $1000 bare minimum.
I bought one from the Home Depot in Mexico for $352 and brought it over the border

Come to Australia, when you see our prices you will shit, then by law professionals have to install, no guarantee of quality install, then add that cost, then when it fails, the company goes bankrupt but there are some good installs
It all depends on where you are in the world, North Connecticut forget it your better off with pv solar heating a tank directly, also these designs are prone to lime scale buildup so will need regular yearly cleaning like any system boiler

There's a lot of information missing in this video.
1. What is the name and model of solar water heater you got? That's just basic information!
2. How big is your storage tank? It would be nice to know, for example, "This solar hot water heater can be paired with a tank of up to 200 gallons." If I had to guess, your black tank is 200 gallons. But see, I'm guessing!
3. I THINK the way this works is the hot water in the solar hot water heater rises once heated and goes into a coil of pipe inside the black tank, which heats up your hot water. Again, I'm guessing, because you didn't say!
4. It would be nice to know in which climates can this work in and how much sun per day are you currently getting. You said you were in the tropics. It would be nice to know where exactly, so that people can decide if this is something that would work for them.

your first question 1 I purchased my Solar water heater out of the Truper catalog which is based out of Mexico.

2 The solar water heater is installed in the Dominican republic so it gets quite a bit of sun
The water storage tank simply uses gravity to feed the solar water heater so it's size is relatively unimportant I believe mine is something around 250 gallons but I don't remember I would have to look at it The main reason to have it in the first place is so in case your main water supply gets shut off it will give you some extra time before the water heater would run out of water and break the glass tubes.
this water heater does not have copper tubing inside of it and that is part of the reason it is a very expensive but it's mean downside is that you can't put normal water pressure into it or it would leak water or break something
there are models made that have copper pipes running through the hot water tank that transfer normal water mains pressure through them and it's a close system so the tube feed the tank of water which intern would heat the copper coil which would heat the water running through it those metals tend to be more expensive because of all the copper

Why do you keep saying "hot water" heater? If you have hot water why would you need to heat it?
