  • Kyrie Irving finally performed like the Kyrie Irving we know in Game 3 of the NBA Finals and Luka Doncic did what Luka Doncic does until he fouled out with 3 minutes left. None the less, the Boston Celtics have been able to execute a gameplan that exposes the elite isolation play of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. So in today's video, we breakdown how the Boston Celtics were able to use Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving's 1v1 skill against them and find themselves up 3-0.

That's hilarious, because Luka leads the Playoffs in steals and deflections, and has the highest defensive rating for his team.
What low BBIQ casuals can't understand is the Mavs' defense funnels drivers into rim-protectors, i.e. getting "blown by" is part of the scheme.

His analysis sucks he says a bunch of nothing that doesn’t make sense. The Mavs were the second best team in the league… and the mavs emulate the team with Chris Paul that Kobe admitted had a shot at winning. Besides all that the Celtics are one of the best offensive and defensive teams in the league and if anybody in this modern era were to 3 peat it would be them. A stacked team where everyone knows and plays their role is unbeatable. Mavs just don’t have the firepower.

    • @JBSCORNERL8
      @JBSCORNERL8 2 місяці тому

@@jordanjohnson9498 Your analysis overlooks several critical points. First, the Mavs were not the second-best team during the regular season; they reached the finals despite this. The real issue isn't a lack of firepower but a deficiency in ball movement, as highlighted in the video. The success of teams like the one with Chris Paul, which Kobe Bryant acknowledged, stems from Paul's ability to distribute the ball and read defenses effectively. Firepower alone doesn't win championships.
The Celtics' success as one of the best offensive and defensive teams is a result of over a decade of meticulous team-building, not just recent efforts. While their team is strong, they are not unbeatable. The video pointed out that the Mavs' hero-ball approach is unsustainable for winning championships, particularly against balanced and defensively robust teams. This style might win them a game or two but isn't a championship-winning strategy.
If the Mavs eventually secure a championship, it will likely be due to a roster filled with all-stars. They are already adding top players like Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson and might continue to add more, transforming into a team of all-stars surrounding Luka Doncic.
The Celtics are proof that you don't need a roster full of offensively gifted, talented players to win championships. All you need is strong defense and effective ball movement. That's all it takes to build a championship-winning team.

I think the association is getting close to bucking heliocentrism as a trend. It’s out of vogue atm, but scheming Luka into triple threat mismatches at the elbow could open things up for the Mavs offense. I know that goes against modern NBA metas, but I think Luka generates more gravity two dribbles from three different parts of the paint than always pounding out clock dancing above the line… as talented as he is at that dance.

Bro not making no sense whatsoever.. only thing that is true is when he talks about Luka’s effort and the death of heliocentric basketball. The reason for the death of heliocentric basketball is different tho. Star players have a harder time being consistent and one bad night can determine the series which makes it harder to win. Not because it’s an inherently worse style of basketball. Truth is Ky and Luka supposed to be more efficient to draw that help defense that gets the team game going. For Boston it was rarely ever not worth it to let the iso players iso even though under normal circumstances Ky and Luka woulda torched the d and kicked it to the perimeter.

Excellent analysis but I would suggest that Luka's 1v1 isn't really elite. He does the same off-tempo, step-back moves and his handle is ok. His game is most similar to Joe Johnson and Harden, with more ball dominance and passing. What makes him and guys like Brunson, SGA and a few others so formidable is the floor spacing and roll threat of the Curry Era. Because the lane is WIDE OPEN, you don't have to be an elite 1v1 player if you can shoot well from distance and get players off balance. Luka's size also lets him literally push off most defenders once he's in the lane and step back or pivot for a mid-range shot. In the regular season guys like this are difficult to handle if you can't individually match-up with them, kinda like Lebron. But in the playoffs you can focus on their weaknesses much more and make them one-dimensional. That's what Dallas did to SGA and that's what Boston is doing to Luka.

He said you got to move around, and what were the Mavs doing all three games? Ball watching. Ball watching while the two superstars cook, who then don't run back on defense and help with that when they miss shots. On D, it's 5 v 3. There's no advantages for the Mavs, Celtics are too well rounded defensively. They stay down on Luka's fakes and he's too eager to draw fouls or to play slow, they're giving him the first read of just pulling up and he doesn't. He doesn't drive enough, doesn't move off the ball, all that, Kyrie i can't say the same, he's trying on both sides of the court, just he's so light he can't handle the physicality, plus he's been a little unlucky with his shooting and some of his finishing, although the Celtics made it really hard for him to get to the paint. In this Boston series this is what you need…everyone’s getting mad at the role players and I keep saying they need to touch the ball as well early to in order to get their rhythm going, they are not robots. Mr Dribble is a good player, he doesn’t understand the full concept of team play. Had he been discipline in our 1st home game and kept attacking because they couldn’t stop him Dallas definitely would have Won. You could clearly see what the game plan was and he just went Rogue.
I also blame Kidd, he made some horrible rotations this was a must win and you put the dagger 🗡️ in. He took Kai out and Boston damn near kept all their starters in. At this time it’s do or die and Kai is in better shape than Mr Dribble I know he could’ve stayed in the game with no problem.
    Keep up the Good Work!

Here I'll maks this easy the Celtics had a historically great net rating and added fucking Jrue Holiday and Porzingis as luxury pieces to a perennial ECF team. The Mavs had about 5 months of continuity in a season already plagued by injuries and kept afloat until they overdelivered and exceeded expectations. They then lost to one of the most talented teams assembled, with a historically great net rating, because that team was better. It happens.

Luka makes the offense really slow and predictable by giving the defense time to settle and kyrie ends up watching him. Luka makes the mavs front court work double time because he is getting blown by. Luka's baby tantrums energy is sickening giving out bad energy.
Mavs won in game 4 cause luka changed his attitude that his teammates feed on and Jkidd's adjustments, by putting the bigs and exum to play made a great impact on speed and easy rebounds. Board man get paid and defense win titles.

Luka makes the offense efficient and dissects defenses. IDK why people are insisting that Luka play away from his strengths. Why? It's "predictable"? If it's so predictable why couldn't teams stop it enough to prevent them from making the Finals?
Low BBIQ fans insist that players like Luka play this "ideal" fantasy style of basketball that everyone just parrots endlessly. Empty basketball platitudes.
You're arguing against 5x NBA 1st-team, 2 WCF in 3 years, 1 Finals appearance, Playoff appearance in 2nd season in the league, etc.
Go insist on someone else playing the way you want, because Luka has just powered his team to the Finals in the West and doesn't give a fuck how you want him to play.

Why is it nasty work? Did he point out anything that was untrue? Did he say that this was a stain on Luka's legacy?
And it's weird you blame his teammates when before the trade deadline the Mavs were languishing around the play-in playing Luka ball but the moment they signed more defensive players to cover for his non existent defense, they get to 5th and make the finals so seems like his teammates more than held up their end.
As much as Luka carried them on offense they carried him on defense. Problem is that wasn't enough against a very gd Celtics team. Luka will have to greatly improve his defense since, as evidenced, a team can exploit one players poor defense way more than they can exploit one player's bad offense. That said his teammates should also take steps to better be able to generate their own points
