Jeff playing with Boz Scaggs, never mind how old Jeff was, will forever be some of the greatest tracks ever laid down by any drummer. That he was in his 20's is remarkable.

Always wondered who played drums on silk degrees, the sizzle on his hi hat blew away, when I found out it was Jeff, it all made sense! 🔥

Thank you guys for helping document and keep up the legacy of Jeff. I never got to meet him I was born after his passing yet he is the main drummer that has grabbed my ears in recent years. everyone flocks to Bonham or Moon a ton in my little area but as amazing as they are I'm more in awe of Jeff for his attitude and approach to the drums. Every time I sit behind the kit on a tune I think What Would Jeff Do and instantly things feel better

There are only a few drummers in the past few decades who will be remembered for decades to come:
    Bernard Purdie
    Earl Palmer
    Hal Blaine
    Jim Gordon
    Russ Kunkell
    Harvey Mason
    Jeff Porcaro
    Steve Gadd
    Ndugu Chancellor
    Steve Ferrone
    JR Robinson
I had the great pleasure of doing an album with John Robinson. It was one of the best weeks of my career. Thanks JR and thanks Lee for this interview.

what's really cool about this one is the love of Jeff that never goes away..I was curious to know when you recorded this so I googled entertainment magazine Superman on the cover saw the picture and saw it was 2013... that's what makes Jeff's legacy so amazing..show this is 20 + years after passing a Jeff and the love talked about him to this day.. this was a great one with John I enjoyed this a lot..always love John's playing with Quincy Jones stuff like on off the wall from Michael Jackson another great pocket drummer John is but never gets his due amongst all the great talk of drummers if you know what I mean...

    Hi Lee
Would love to hear a interview with Simon Phillips, in regard to stepping into them big shoes, as a replacement drummer for this amazing guy and band. Thanks for this informative stuff...

I did read an interview Simon where he spoke to this. He said that Jeff's playing was way beyond Jeff's chronological age, very mature as a player. As well, he said everything that Jeff played was absolute perfection. What was absolutely called for, nothing more & nothing less.

My image of J R will always be his accompaniment for USA for Africa during the “We Are the World” sessions in 1985 (having grown up with the documentary). This interview is (if you’ll excuse me) killer. His reverence for Jeff Porcaro is as evident as Jeff’s beats.
