In theory there was a screen with the lyrics (so they were doing karaoke), but I do think this was staged, and the 2 girls both knew ahead of time what songs they were gonna get. Doesn't make it any less impressive. And I think Kelly won on just that last song alone. The rest of the performance was great, but the last song was amazing.
Ariana can definitely sing but she's no match for Kelly. Kelly is the best. Try Kelly's song Meaning of life (Nashville sessions). I think you'll love it.

As well as riffs and runs, falsetto and whistle register. That battle would be unfair to Ms Clarkson, so was yours when you compared their voice weights

I was astounded when I listened to the Meaning of Life. I knew Kelly was a talented singer, but the Nashville Sessions blew me away-power, soul, elegance, voice control, runs-she does it all. I was mesmerized. Yes, please react to The Meaning of Life.
whether it's something prepared or not, I think there is any possible context. They are singing professionals, they are two great vocalists, who to have such a performance the only thing they need is to warm up their voice. Maybe they do tell them what the songs will be since it wouldn't be unusual, it's an entertainment show. But specifically, I would not doubt that Ariana knows every song that she played for her, since literally she has said on thousands of occasions that each of those singers are her biggest influences.
yeah it was pretty much a tie. but thing is that there were more parts than just the mixtape medley - like there was a 'sing it don't spray it' segment as well and some other ones. so the overall performance in all the games is why john/kelly won, not just for this one game.
It's not because it is airy or crystal clear but because it is thin, like a baby voice tone... I mean Mariah has airy tone but thick and corpose too...

Besides her voice being stronger, Kelly had pop, country & R&B songs. Hard to think of anyone who has a voice as versatile as Kelly's. She's amazing.
