J Cole hasn’t lied cause nobody has ever out rapped him on a song. You don’t have to be in loved in a rap beef to prove you are the greatest. Get on a feature and see who got the better verse. Cole has proven time and time again that he’ll dominate anybody on a track.
I’m with Ant 100% with his take on Cole. If J. Cole comes back and delivers strong with The Fall Off that can absolutely will keep him up there even if he backed out of the battle with Kendrick. Cole has been the most consistent and most inform artist out of him, Kendrick and Drake for the past couple of years with the Offseason, Might Delete Later (even though I got mixed thoughts on it) and the feature run he has been on. I don’t think it’s fair to downplay and lower him and his discography all because he didn’t want to battle Kendrick which you can’t blame him for what was really going on between Dot and Drake. Cole has been putting on a clinic with just endless feature verses that stole the show every time and his rapping ability is better than ever. I truly think if Cole is actually putting 110% on his penmanship for the Fall Off this album might be on par with the likes of 2014 Forest Hills Drive and 4 Your Eyez Only.
He's going to have to make an album with a balance of FHD and 4YEO. A lot of people do not like 4YEO. He needs something that's deep where he's talking his shit, but will also need some shit that will hit commercially for the casual listeners.
Saw this interview of j.cole and he was saying " it took me a long time to understand you can't be the best 100% of people are not gonna agree that you're the best and i was like why are they saying that this man is better than me untill i understood Micheal will never be the best and thats insane.
Lou ignoring rap history.. Jay-Z loses battle to Nas but drops Blueprint, Black Album and cements himself as a lot of people’s #1. We’ve literally seen it happen before.
I just said the same thing. Kendrick hasn't been impressive since Damn and he has been rapping since...just been a little slow with releasing albums. Mr. Morale was garbage. His shit with Keem? Garbage. Now he no longer has his hatred for Drake to ride off of, so where will his inspiration come from next since now people are tossing him the crown? Will he even have that hunger anymore? He's not the great feature artist that Cole is and does not work with anyone outside of Keem.. I say if Cole drops one or two classic projects within the next year or so and continues to click up with the industry on his features then he will be able to make up ground. Cole is lyrically better and there is still ground ahead to cover.
@@r.johnson1170Mr Morale garbage lol, just say that album isn’t your bag. It’s a great album but that aside I see what you’re saying. Cole been impressing consistently since 2018 whilst Kendrick was mostly absent and I wasn’t impressed by many Dot features in that time either. Now I don’t think he needs to ride off Drake hate to deliver heat either that’s also foolish, he can still bar up for sure but I think that’s down to him choosing what music he wants to make, since all his albums have a different sound
Difference is that jay clearly lost a beef, cole just backed out when he realized it wasn't his beef. But yeah in terms of public opinion jay-z is the most obvious example of someone losing respect to gaining it all back
Oh come on. As a rap fan you have to understand how this works. You can even apologize without speaking. Imagine I stepped on your brand new shoes, said nothing, but bought you the exact same shoes brand new as a gesture, that's literally an apology. He apologized
THAT'S WHAT THE FUCK I'M SAYING 😂😂😂. Just like on Heaven's EP where he said "niggas threw the bronze at me" and Akademiks and other internet niggas spun it to him saying that he accepted the bronze. He said that the diss was lame because he felt no way about Kendrick's attention seeking antics and that he hope that his audience could forgive him from straying off of the path that's he's been adamantly walking on for the past 10 years. His choice of words could have been less meek though. Saying that he couldn't sleep the last 2 days and leaving people to interpret that it was because he was scared of Kendrick was crazy.
@@r.johnson1170All this makes sense except for characterizing Kendrick's actions as attention seeking antics lmao. Kendrick wanted smoke w Drake and that was clear from the jump.
I think in this case Ant is trying to say there’s still a road for Cole to take where he could be considered better than Kendrick and Lou is saying “absolutely not.” I agree with Lou. There is no road for him to take anymore.
@@megalamoniacalit’s actually worse than that. Ant copped out by saying Kendrick’s always been my number 1 so no matter what cole can’t be number 1. But is mad lou feels the same way for a different reason lolol.
I feel that if The Fall Off is a masterpiece, then the whole apology means nothing to most of the fans and the hip hop community and it won’t be a stain in his legacy but if The Fall Off is anything less than a masterpiece, the apology will always be a topic that’s brought up. But apology and beef aside, he said that this album will be like Reasonable Doubt…. To me, he put all the pressure on himself with that line alone.
That’s true but most rappers do that. Comparing it to arguably jay Z’s best album is something else entirely. Thats a new level of pressure and expectation. Hope he can deliver but we’ll see.

Not really, people are apologizing to Cole now (including me). Cole knew that this was deeper than just a rap contest. people NOW are understanding why he backed out. Now that Kendrick got Drake out the way i wanna see him and Cole go at it now @TrapSection
1st off, great convo fellas. You made great points about the perspective around this entire situation and anticipation of the fall off. As much as I wanted to see Cole put himself in the arena of a 1v1 due to the fact that Cole grew up in that era of hip hop, Kendrick is someone that he considers a friend. No matter what he would’ve came with in said battle, it wouldn’t have been received well due to the fact that he has nothing but love for dude. The Fall Off and J.Cole’s position in the game is so on brand for who he’s shown us to be. The album title alone appears to sum up everything that’s transpired thus far.
J. Cole was my fav rapper before this, and will be forever after it. If anything it made me realize how much pride has a hold on me and how you need to just let it go. Imo Kendrick is the greatest rapper of all time but Cole is my favorite. After The Fall Off I think Cole could become a top 10 rapper of all time

I really do like them all and have been listening to them for a long time now, but I feel like Kendrick is the only one who really is on that top tier level when it comes to pure rapping.
If j cole drops an album an album this that is considered a masterpiece and one of the best albums of the decade, and drops Kendrick disappears for a couple years, J cole will be the best in the game no question
Point exactly brother. He's put the artform on his back. If he didn't do features we wouldn't have had real raps on the radio and a song like "Alot" or "all my life" wouldn't exist.
@@ylgotbars4531 What you will find is that most people who are tripling down on this legacy stained narrative were either Kendrick fans (mostly) or Drake fans to begin with. They still wanted Cole to prove himself to them as if he hasn't been lyrically smoking both for the past 5 years straight. Kendrick won off of Not Like Us and because he put out Meet the Grahams right after Family Matters. One song won the audience over because it's a bop the other won the audience over because of strategy. Very little was said about punchlines or bars. Kendrick's wordplay outside of the Melly bar really wasn't mind blowing as far as wit goes. Cole will never make more hits than Drake. No rapper will. You have to give him a crown for that, but Cole is a far better lyricist than Kendrick and I'll stand ten toes on that. There is a reason why we have records where Drake embraces rapping with Cole while Kendrick opts to sing when he's on a record with Cole.
@@ylgotbars4531 Niggas are so unappreciative. I want Cole and Drake to both take a break and see how Kendrick puts the genre on his back. Nigga is not a hitmaker and bats below average when it comes to features.
@@r.johnson1170 that is a bowl statement, but one I truly respect and can understand. I said that the best battle would’ve been Cole and Kendrick. Cole is a far superior MC to Drake, which is still no knock to Drake because Cole is a special MC. I definitely agree with the collaborations between the two (Cole and Kendrick), always seem to lack something like Kendrick doesn’t want to rap toe to toe with J. Cole. I’ve been telling everyone that I truly understood where J. Cole was coming from because of the mental place you have to go to win beefs nowadays and some of the smear tactics when it can’t be about the music, which I know Cole believes he’s thebest and has the stats/songs to prove it. If anything, I hope this beef now brings us back to the bars and good music because if so, Cole could be the ultimate winner here.
@@ylgotbars4531 It's a take that I'm comfortable with. Kendrick's best bet will be to tap into the energy he has now as well as the momentum and put out an album that will complement this moment. Otherwise, I truly wonder what will happen once he finally comes off of this high (putting Drake on the mat). I think if his next project isn't received well and Cole's is then it narrows the conversation again. You can tell who is acting out of emotions and who is acting out of logic when it comes to this whole beef thing. Anyone who doesn't think a 40 year old man stepping out of his self to cut low at a person that he is actually cool with just for public approval is wild. Anyone who can't tell the difference in Cole's participation and the other two when the record has shown that Kendrick and Drake have had a decade's worth of animosity towards each other is foolish. You're asking a grown man who is indifferent to channel the hatred that the other two have organically towards each other on top of asking this grown man to dig around for dirt on his friend just to show that he belongs in the conversation as the greatest as if he hasn't been outrapping both as of late. This wasn't about bars, this was about out snitching on and out gossiping the other...and these are 40 year old fathers. Hip hop is still immature.
Does Cole really have to take a back seat to Kendrick after his apology? The fact he chose not to fight might be a more noble move looking back, especially morally speaking. Ending a cycle of violence, taking after his character in “4 Your Eyez Only”. Kendrick built a character of heighten morals on TPAB, Cole built one on 4YEO, only one of them stayed the course.
I believe that J. Cole has the potential to secure the number one position in the music industry, and all he needs to do is create a track that effectively addresses the mistakes made by both parties involved. This simple task could propel him to the top of the charts and solidify his reputation as a trailblazing artist.
Kendrick and Drake hate each other for real - Cole doesn't hate either of them. Apology was disappointing in the beginning , but I get it now. Might Delete Later still an amazing project and The Fall Off will be a classic. Still comfortably top 2 for me.
i love how these 2 never be like "if you like this ill also agree" they always stand on what they believe and when they talk about hip hop its like they were never friends. love the content lu and ant
Y’all underrating tf out of Mr Morale. It’s not even comparable in quality to any Cole album. It’s not close. At all. Mr Morale is by far the best album of 2022 and shits on the Offseason.
@@rizwanbhangar3021 literally no one thinks the offseason is better. It’s a 6/10 album with no direction or purpose, is sonically redundant, and while it does have Cole’s least offensive rapping and some of his better punchline raps, it’s a very forgettable record. Mr Morale is one of the best written albums ever.
@@rizwanbhangar3021 looking at albums as to what you can add to your playlist based on “skips” is the most brain dead way to value an album. By that logic an album with no direction, purpose and all only barely passable songs will be better to you than an album with many 10/10 tracks and maybe a couple you don’t like. It’s not a playlist, it’s an album.
I think, even with the backing out of the beef, J Cole, right now, is the most inform rapper I have ever seen in my life, throughout history. The only other times i can think of is Eminem with his SSLP to Encore run, and, yes, I include Encore, even though it was worse than the others, because that album was hindered due to leaks and might've been one of Eminem's best projects if not for that factor. I say this because of the four studio albums, endless features, and his involvement with 50 Cent and other Shady Aftermath artists projects. Then, secondly, I think Kendrick had a similarly in form time period, between TPAB and Damn, and it say that because he went on a phenomenal feature run, dropped 2 amazing studio albums, including arguably the greatest album of all time in TPAB, and also put out a phenomenal album in Untilted Unmastered. These two runs are the only ones I can think of that can compare to Cole from KOD to present day, and what's really crazy about Cole's run is how long he's been going. From 2018 to 2024, with 3 albums and countless features.
I just hope the album is more conceptual rather than bar heavy. I want him to make me think, feel emotional, happy, etc. I want him to make me feel something.
Love you guys content. I do wonder though if an argument could be made for coles 2018 - 2023 run could be considered just as great as the 2 highest touted albums in K.Dots discog (GKMC & TPAB). It's really hard to compare but I really think Cole Put hip hop on his back for almost a 6 year period and few rappers EVER could say that.
@@myweirdsecondchannelwithap9070 absolutely Brother and I was in high school during that time so that’s the greatest run I’ve ever seen. It just sucks that he got locked up when he did because there was no one hotter.
I think what most aren't considering is that they both are just approaching 40. In a time where you have Jay still rapping and dropped his most critically acclaimed album in his 40s and Nas dropping his best and most well received work (outside of Illmatic) in his 50s, Cole and Kendrick both still got some years ahead of them. Not sure if Cole completely stops after this next album, but if he doesn't then I have a very bold predicition. I think Cole drops one or two more projects in the near future...and I think they'll be classics. Might Delete Later was throwaways and was a better project than We Don't Trust You. If Cole drops classics with the next few projects AND continues to stay tapped in with the current rap scene and does his features then he'll be able to make up ground. Kendrick "won" this battle, but he was definitely driven and inspired from his hate for Drake. He even said himself that he lives a boring and peaceful life and only stepped outside of himself to kill Drake, but now that he's gotten that out of his system what's next? He's not that great on features and he isolates himself from the current rap landscape outside of Baby Keem. I think that is where Cole has the biggest advantage.
You don't gotta have animosity to lyrically spar with somebody. You can't be saying you the top dude in the game for years and when one of the few that's on your level challenges you then back down. It looks funny as much as some of ya'l try to downplay it.
Right on gentlemen. The whole situation has been so crazy. As far as the apology, I'm glad he did it. I'm still think he shouldn't have released the song to begin with, so it was the best he could make of a bad situation. Given how long The Fall Off has been teased, I don't expect him to address everything going on recently. However, I do think Cole has a great opportunity to use it as some inspiration. I think he could still be boastful and confident, just approach it a different way. Personally, I'd like to see him go into the beef stuff on another project. Even if it's not based on it conceptually, or he doesn't address it directly in the lyrics, I think there's so much to take in from the situation that would make for great ideas to go super introspective.

If I'm completely honest I think The Fall Off is gonna be a featureless album sorta like 2014 but it's gonna be a story of him telling us about his highs and lows like the Kendrick moment and probably having one of the best feature runs a artist ever has to finally tie in his thoughts and how he feels about his achievements and if he has done enough, if he has pleased his urge to become the greatest or not (But that's just a theory, A GAME THEORY)
We’re speaking in hypotheticals as well. We’re saying “if J.Cole drops album of the decade” when we’re in 2024 very early to say so and as if Kendrick possibly didn’t drop the album of last decade so he could possibly do that this decade. Anyway at least there’s hope for J.Cole only time will tell.

We are asking the wrong questions, what really happened between Kendrick and Drake to make this spiral. Cole got warning from Kendrick that this was personal and Cole just wanted a sport rap battle. The Fall Off is going to be huge but I feel out of all of this, a collab between Kendrick and Cole is very possible now
Honestly, i have always preferred Cole to Kendrick and Drake but right now after what happened, I'm curious about how he's going to bounce back and what his choice of words is going to be like in the case of "ain't no way around it no more, i am the greatest..." (Fire Squad) when Kendrick clearly claimed he's selfish with the crown 😂😂
I’m sorry bru but that rap beef was not the Super Bowl of the Big 3 which is irritating that you guys try to make it that way. It would be horrible if Cole’s claim to fame to take the number one spot was just through two songs in a beef against Kendrick. Let Cole try to get number 1 or claim the throne by making a generational album. Yall put Kendrick at 1 with the albums he’s put out and not through rap beef why can’t cole do the same?
But what if Kendrick drops a superior album than The Fall Off? He can and has shown the ability to do it. As an album artist, Dot has run circles around Cole for the majority of their output. That’s where the real competition comes between these guys at this stage. Steel sharpens steel. All these guys (Drake included) have higher stakes ahead.
Too many people are confusing beef with competition. Before, rappers would compete by featuring with each other, but when they battle, it was always personal
Where is this Fall Off album of the decade hype coming from? Like legitimately. Cole having a couple of nice features with Benny & Lil Yachty doesn't prove to me he can finally craft a generational tracklist of song after song. Especially after the disaster that was MDL.
MDL is just the throwaways. The Fall Off will be the conceptual, it will have more storytelling, more bars, and etc. He's been working on this album since 2017. So thats why the conversation about album of the decade began.

I still love J. Cole he’s proven himself over the past 5 years I’m not discrediting his work all because of this battle tbh.
Lou ignoring rap history.. Jay-Z loses battle to Nas but drops Blueprint, Black Album and cements himself as a lot of people’s #1. We’ve literally seen it happen before.
Exactly
Difference is Hov DIDNT BACK DOWN win or lose jfold did
@@r.johnson1170Mr Morale garbage lol, just say that album isn’t your bag. It’s a great album but that aside I see what you’re saying. Now I don’t think he needs to ride off Drake hate to deliver heat either that’s also foolish, he can still bar up for sure but I think that’s down to him choosing what music he wants to make, since all his albums have a different sound

This simple task could propel him to the top of the charts and solidify his reputation as a trailblazing artist.

I will keep saying that he didn’t back out of a battle. He backed out of an unnecessary beef cuz he doesn’t have any animosity against Kendrick.
Too late for j fold
🥱

MDL is just the throwaways. The Fall Off will be the conceptual, it will have more storytelling, more bars, and etc. He's been working on this album since 2017. So thats why the conversation about album of the decade began.
@@nicholasanderson9019are you a fan of Kendrick? Because they respect each other and the fans also should have some respect for each other. The problem is the Drake, Kenny just wanted smoke with him, not Cole. So stop the slander and be more positive man 🙌🏻
@@WaddupYT i see your perspective man, as this guys said, Kendrick is and always will be the best rapper, but J. Cole is also the one of the greats, so I would love to see him drop an album masterpiece!
Diss or no diss Cole still holds tha throne today Kendrick hasn’t done nothing strong enough since 2017 Damn Cole been putting work since then you all both are lucky Cole is Humble “The Fall Off” December 2024
Lol
J Cole backing out officially locked himself at number 3. I think he raps better than Drake but Drake just one upped him and even held his own. Even tho he lost. Drake gained my respect over Cole.
So Drake gained your respect over cole even though he was paying for people for dirt on Kendrick and made up several lies throughout the beef that we’re all false? These guys are my favorite artists but what Drake did was so lame
@@MrASAPAB I agree that he is lame. But he didn’t rap bad. All I’m saying is j Cole cant talk shit anymore. He literally backed out. I’ve been trying to listen to j cole and his new shit sucks. I can only listen to kod. Even listening to 2014 is weird since he talks about how cold his is on the mic. He just ruined it for me that’s all
@@samuelcarrillo4378not a single sentence you said is a respectable take
I wonder just a thought if J.Cole drops an album better than Illmatic or Tpab could he still talk about being number one? TBH the beef was alright but I feel like drake and Kendrick didn’t drop nothing harder than PI off of MDL. Plus I don’t look at the mdl differently than when it first came out and he says ppl don’t want no smoke on the same song cause of he will show he has the better pen and he has just look the ft he had on fps it was better than drakes verse. He hasn’t been on a song with Kendrick with both of them having their own verse since Black Friday so if he gets on one now what will happen? This might just be a lot of yapping though so yea
