It's his family and father fault for the reason he was insecure with his looks. They always teased him for his acne and nose. If I was born around the times that he was a teen, I would have told him how beautiful he was. He was beautiful regardless because of how beautiful he was on the inside.

+Lauren J Karen was his Make up stylist. At this time he probably didn't have a hair stylist. He later got one but by that time he was already using weaves due to the scalp procedures he had to undergo.

Zehra aa well he needed 1 or 2 for his nose,the tragic Pepsi commercial broke his nose and he couldn’t breath properly afterwards so he had surgery in order to still be able to sing high notes
Also he got a bald spot because did the Pepsi commercial in the back of his head😖and apparently it never grew back which is why he wore wigs,he had to for performances.
Um yeh he did.if he hadnt, then he would've suffocated.

Here he already had one nose surgery though. This is 1982 and his first surgery was back in 1979. He was perfect during this era, but then in 1984 came the peter pan-esque nose which I'm not a fan of though he was still fine.

I get how he feels.. during that time it was hard to find someone who could understand his texture and work with his hair type.
I'm a hairstylist who can work with every texture of hair and I also work in the industry and have seen or been on set in situations like this.
He wants to cooperate but I can tell he's very uncomfortable and is guiding the artist the best way he can-- to be in agreement for what they what. He has also stated in many of his interviews that people are always wanting to touch or feel him-- like he's some type of foreign object. So I get it.
Plus during that era (in 70's, 80's) it was complicated for others to understand that texture of hair ( as well as it is now) so many would just style their own hair, bring their own, products and makeup too.

A BLACK hair stylist would’ve understood his hair texture just fine, but when you hire a white person that has no inkling of how to do black hair this is what you get. I hear a lot of black models and actresses speaking about having this same problem when going on set to film.
I came here from a fictional MJ story mentioning this "just water" scene. I wonder what made him keep Karen Faye for so long if she had no clue what to to with his hair.

She sounds dumb, and the guy--who is CLEARLY not a hair stylist, is trying to reinvent the wheel, to do, what it's not designed to do. He said "When you press down, you'll get a few more of those curls..." I had no idea MJ was using hair pins, to sculpt the "Jerry Curl" in sections--which is what it was called. Interesting!

She helps him to cover his vitiligo in the beginning stages, until it was so widespread he had to just show the white ! He was such a beautiful and caring person !

It's not necessarily offensive it's just he would've been good with someone who was African American than white because white people don't know too much about black hair and same goes for Asian and Hispanic. His stylist didn't seem like she was doing a bad job I just think that if his stylist was black they'd know almost exactly how his hair should've been styled.

He's just like me, I also take comments personal sometimes and I can't help it especially when someone jokes around me.

And mainly since he’s probably living his life thinking “oh why do my hair have to look like this, like why god have make our hair turn out this way… I wish it was different” But it’s sucks and for me I feel the same way with me having to live my life in depression and anger over looking ugly, having horrible coily hair and growing up in a tough way to live lifestyle which my life will never change the way I want it to be for myself 😔😓😭

Rafael Ahmed oh, yes, I remember that. Even when he was a teen, he hated looking at the mirror thanks to his bad acne, but you know what, even when Michael is always insecure and hated his appearance, I always tell him that he always beautiful no matter what he looks. Even when in day, evening, and night, he still looks like an angel everytime I see. When he has some physical imperfections, he's still beautiful either way. Imperfections is what makes him special. However, Michael's insecurity problem pretty much reminds me of myself because sometimes I feel like I'm not attractive or hot enough for everyone and I would just keep questioning my beauty everytime when it comes to certain situations. Just like Michael, I seek the approval of others I know just to make me feel better of myself. Michael needs to know and realize that he is actually and always beautiful himself and not caring what others think of him. I even don't care of what anyone says about my Michael.

I wished I lived in those times to tell him how beautiful he was because obviously his family wasn't doing it. I loved Michael big nose and he was gorgeous with it. Even when Michael had surgery he still was gorgeous. He was gorgeous from 1958-2009. I loved Michael regardless because of how beautiful he was on the inside. He is the most beautiful man I've seen. He was even beautiful as kid. As I said before, I wish his family told him that he was beautiful then he probably would have never been insecure with his looks.
