- Eddie Hearn says that Canelo has no problem fighting David Benavidez but is not happy about how much weight Benavidez would rehydrate to on fight night. As Hearn says that Canelo was sending a message to the world that if we want to see the Canelo vs Benavidez fight that you have to pay Canelo Alvarez. As he also speculates that Canelo could have only two more years left in the sport.

Canelo is not Floyd though. As much as people want to say Floyd was ducking opponents, he consistently fought the big name fighters who posed a threat. That’s why his ppv numbers were consistently high, because people thought he could lose. Who did Floyd avoid in his career? He fought every big name is his era and won. Plus he was a marketing genius. That’s what brought him the 9 figure pay days. I hope Canelo gets as much money as he possibly can, but when he’s fighting guys like Yildrim, Ryder, Charlo, Munguía, & claiming Benavidez isn’t worth anything, along with multiple excuses, it just looks silly.

There's an entire pool of fighters all far more proven than Benavidez that Floyd never fought, Paul Williams, Margarito Sergio Martinez, Lara, or fresher versions of Pacquiao and Shane etc. Floyd started pulling stunt retirements since age 30 after his first big payday vs Oscar to swerve the crop of fighters he wasn't eager to face. And Floyd never even fought the taller champs period like Canelo has. Floyd even as he moved up strictly fought fighters around his height and almost always maintained the reach advantage while avoiding the lankier guys that could've made it tougher for him to fight out of his shell.
As for Benavidez, he's never set himself as a class apart let alone is he a legacy fighter. Canelo haters just ran out of guys to prop up as avoided so the best they can do is the guy who ducked all the fights to be in Canelo's shoes lol. The reason there's no super fight money on the table right now is only because of David refusing to do work on his end to build himself up despite there being a large Mexican American audience that he could've tried tapping into. Basically David expects Canelo to give him in one fight what David refuses to do for himself, and expects it to be on his terms even saying he'd refuse to do the B side thing of crossing the street to get it down with his manager Sampson saying they'd reject a Canelo offer for September even if it came. David stays fighting leftovers as a priority like his next rando fight that that nobody cares about watching.

Wider win Canelo Alvarez himself versus Jermell Charlo was easily 20 pounds heavier than Jermell Charlo his last night he picked somebody smaller, so Canelo could pick smaller people, but Bonita can’t even though Benavidez and Canelo fighting the same white division which is the 168 Canelo decided to fight somebody that only Wade 154 pounds pounds.
The main difference here is canelo is not draining his body and killing himself to make 168. Benavidez is.
