  • The State Anthem of the Armenian SSR (Armenian: Հայկական ՍՍՀ օրհներգ) was the national anthem of Armenia when it was a republic of the Soviet Union and known as the Armenian SSR.
The anthem was used from 1944 to 1991. It was composed by Aram Khachaturian, a world-famous Armenian composer, who was known for his concertos and ballets, Spartacus and Gayane, the latter including the ever-popular Sabre Dance. Armenak Sarkisyan, who went under the pseudonym Sarmen, wrote the lyrics. Upon independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Armenia adopted the anthem Mer Hayrenik ("Our Fatherland") in its place.
    -------------------------------
    Soviet Armenian National Anthem lyrics

Out of all the Soviet Republic Anthems, this one is the best. I even think it's better than the Soviet National Anthem. It sounds very powerful and written and sung so beautifully. I'm not Armenian, but i can only imagine feeling lots of pride when hearing and singing this song as they would even with it's mentions of Lenin and Communism. It's Absolutely a magnificent piece of work Written by an Armenian for Armenians. I can't believe this isn't Armenia's current anthem. They should have changed the lyrics a bit and kept the music.

I couldn't agree more. Russians kept their Soviet anthem, with changed lyrics. Armenins could do the same. Just remove Lenin's name, replacing it with someone else, or replacing communism to armenianism, work-loving to freedom-loving or similar. It would be such a great anthem. This one isn't bad, but this Soviet anthem is way better. Not to mention that music was composed by Aram Khachaturian - a genious musician.

Joseph Staline No the old brainwashed Armenians might be pro Soviet but the new enlightened generations of Armenians such myself are against communist soviets, fuck them all! They gave our ancestral Armenian lands to Turks and Azeris, (Western Armenia to Turks, Artsakh and Nakhichevan to Azeris and should I mention Javakhk that was also Armenian and was given to Georgians?), then in attempts of forming a Russified one soviet nation they forbid Armenians to talk about Armenian history especially the pain many Armenians have been through during Armenian Genocide, or about our heroes such as Garegin Njdeh or General Andranik. This fucker named Stalin sent my own grandparents for 10 years of gulag in Syberia!!! The roads of Syberia are filled with bones of our ancestors dying there while being forced to work endlessly! Should I mention that it’s Russians and Americans who play cat and mouse with Turks? One day they hate each other, the other day they love each other and make business together? Especially Russians who make huge amounts of money on the Armenian-Azeri conflict!

    • @AR-ef1rs
      @AR-ef1rs 4 роки тому +8

Joseph Staline I hate how the old generations are romanticizing the Soviet times describing it as this lala land where everyone had a job and went on vacation every three months while forgetting to look at the bigger picture and seeing how badly they fucked up our country! If Armenia kept on being independent, just like they declared in 1918 and the further Sovietization wouldn’t occur then Armenia would have been much richer and more advanced now! God! How I hate the communists, the ottomans and everyone who tried to impose themselves on our Armenia!!! Long live our ancient nation who has suffered so much! We gotta cut our country some slack, everyone is criticizing our country but they forget that in the span of 100 years our country has been through a Genocide, World War I, World War II, then Communism, then the tragic earthquake in 1988, then Artsakh war in the 90’s then the massive emigration, where more Armenians have fled the country than stayed, then corrupted oligarchs trying to sell our Armenia to Russia... It’s only now that we try to begin a new life...I don’t know about Pashinyan, I don’t like him but at the same time I’m glad that the revolution happened since we got rid of that pro Russian puppet Sargsyan...

How are you doing over there, Armenians? There are many people of Armenian descent in Greece, but they only retain their names. :-( You barely hear the language anymore, a great shame! :-( Still... WE ARE BROTHERS! REJOICE!

@NONSOV That's a fair way of putting it actually. The Proto Indo Europeans divided across Europe and the Middle East. Europeans got Latin and Germanic - which has now become languages like Italian, French, German and English. Eastern Europeans got Slavic, which is Russian etc. The Greeks got their own branch too, and so did the Persians/Indians.
In the language tree, Armenian is somewhere between Greeks and Persians.
    Hope that helps.
