    Great video Will! what intake & carb are you going with? looks like it's going to be a really strong street engine! You might want to store the crankshaft standing up on the flex plate/flywheel end to deter any flexing or warping. (just a suggestion) Can't wait for new videos of your build! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Will! 😀👍

      Thanks Jim. I will get that crank up didn’t think about that. Yes hoping for some decent powder from it we’ll see. As far as intake and carb I haven’t thought about that far yet. Need to do more research on that since this is my first 440 build I want to make sure everything works well together. I was thinking of trying out EFI but not sure yet. Thanks for watching sir!

    Years ago I saw where there were sonic thickness tests done on 440 blocks covering 66-78 and there wasn't enough difference in castings to be significant.

    So did you take the engine to the machine shop first and they tell you what size piston to get or did you just ballpark what it would be over by looking at the walls of the engine and guess how much they needed to take off?

    • @wills69charger1
      @wills69charger1  3 роки тому

      The machine shop usually tells you how much it needs to be cut. It all depends how worn down it is.

    The car is clean AF. Did you do the body work too or just the floors?

    • @wills69charger1
      @wills69charger1  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you. I bought it like that. The body work was done several years ago. Needs some work. I just did the floors. Slowly trying to get all the drivetrain right first before I redo the body. Thanks for watching

    Will, what is the rear axle ratio of your Charger? It looks like the cam grinds suggest using a 3.54 or 4.11 with their cams. I'm guessing with yours being a 318 engine that you have a more gas friendly 3.23 or 2.73 ratio? Are you willing to change your ratio to a more aggressive version? Just wondering. 🤗

    • @wills69charger1
      @wills69charger1  5 років тому +2

      Yes I’m going with what they suggest. Not sure which one just yet. I also been looking for a 8-3/4 rear end for a while now as well. Still trying to figure out what works best with what.

      @@wills69charger1 How about a Dana 60? With the power output you're planning on, it might be a better route to go for the added strength. 😉

    • @wills69charger1
      @wills69charger1  5 років тому +1

      I would love a Dana 60 just so hard to find one around my side of town. And when I do they want close to $2,000 for it and that’s too high for me right now. Always open to one though if I ever come across one.

      @@wills69charger1 Yes, I forgot how pricey they are due to their popularity. And to get the ratio you'd want would make it even a harder find. I wonder what that Charger in that junkyard had in it a few videos back? Might be worth revisiting that place again? 😁

    • @wills69charger1
      @wills69charger1  5 років тому +1

      Agreed. Good idea but I do remember him saying he was selling it as a whole and not parting that one out 🤷🏻‍♂️

    With that duration and lobe separation it should sound and run good, your neighbors probably won't have as much appreciation for it though lol

    i am 15 right now and am can get a rv with a 440 in it... i want to get it and take the engine out but idk if it runs and its a 24 foot rv so towing would be insane... what should i do get it or just say forget it (the rv isnt in useable condition like interior is screwed)

    • @wills69charger1
      @wills69charger1  5 років тому +1

      There are plenty of RV 440’s out there that are pulled out already. I wouldn’t go through the hassle of trying to figure out what to do with an old rv after engine is pulled. You could cut it all up like on the roadkill episode. It’s really up to how much money you are saving either way you choose.

    I think 78 was the last 440 year.
