    Americas Test Kitchen recommends the OXO kettle. I’ve had mine for almost 10 years. The filter inside broke, so I got another OXO. I love it. The old one still works so, I’ve stored it away.

    Really nice OXO kettle lasted me 3 years. I was really sad to see it go. The best glass kettle I owned. Bella lasted almost 2 years. Chefman lasted a little over 1 year.

      @guess what I watch many, many reviews. They're important to me before I buy something. This review was comprehensive which made it exceptional and a great help to me. A brilliant video. I also read many comments and yours is just dumb. Very dumb.

    I'm not sure about OXO but I have Breville kettle BKE595XL which broke after few months of moderate use.. The lid opens up spontaneously keeping the power on even after the water reaches the boiling temperature. You have to turn it off manually. Breville customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with. The chat on their website is always off line , the reps if you re patient enough to reach, are clueless and helpless. They email you back with subject line starting with ' Unfortunately...'

      I’ve had my OXO 10 years now, still works great. When the filter inside at top of kettle broke, I decided to get another OXO. I stored the old one away. Americas Test Kitchen recommends the OXO. I noticed in his comparison, he didn’t mention about the filter near the spout of the OXO kettle.

    Can't I just take the plastic and filter out of the oxo so that the water then only contacts glass and stainless steel?

    • @cherylelinsmith743
      @cherylelinsmith743 6 місяців тому

      The filter helps to take out impurities from water. Americas Test Kitchen recommends the OXO.

      That would blow most circuits in North America if used in a 2 plug outlet.

    Hi Khoa, I have watched all your kettle videos. Thanks! Do you prefer the Breville or OXO at this point?

    • @KPhan
      @KPhan  4 роки тому +10

      Hi Molly! Thank you for watching. I ended up giving the OXO to a buddy. I just watched this video again. About 3 years later, the Breville is still running strong. My buddy like his OXO. He doesn't use it everyday like I do. Maybe I can do a quick update video on 3 years usage and my thoughts on the pro and con of the Breville. Would you be interest to see that?

    Thank you for the comparison. What is the purpose of the filter, since it is used just for water?

    • @KPhan
      @KPhan  4 роки тому

      I think the filter is just in case. Depending on your water source, but I have been using bottled water so the filter isn't necessary.

    which one is lighter

    • @KPhan
      @KPhan  6 років тому +2

      The Breville is a bit heavier at 3.2 lbs vs OXO at 2.84 lbs

  • @richlaue
    @richlaue 2 роки тому

    My only complaint about the OXY is that the water comes to a rolling boil, for about a minute, before turning off. This boils off a lot of Oxygen

      Oxygen doesn't boil off from water. Water vapor boils off from water.

    breville - when you pour, hot water touches plastic right?

    • @KPhan
      @KPhan  6 років тому

      Unfortunately yes, the filter is a thin plastic frame with wired mesh. It can be remove but not sure if it’s a better trade off for no plastic vs extra filter protection with it on. I usually use bottle filtered water so I can use it without the filter mesh.
