Is it difficult to paint them, or just time consuming? Have you ever encountered someone with an absolute shit paint job?
Better to 3D print them/get third party models. Rather not pay of cent to GW.

Yes to all of that. Well, the first two depends on the complexity of the model.
A bunch of small guardsman can be very loosely painted fairly quickly, and unless you zoom in you won't really notice a lot of mistakes. You get yourself a Primarch or a Titan and you'll have to be careful. This goes into your third question, because some people really do suck as painting if they haven't tried it before. There's a reason one of the most famous lines in the community is "thin your paints!" I remember someone's Imperial Fists (Forge World models I believe) looked like they were shoved into a microwave and then painted by a toddler. If you struggle painting, start with less detailed, small models. Or pay someone to give your models are sweet paintjob.

Nothing wrong w/ collecting. As a matter of fact war strategy games were historically played by kings, pharaohs, great generals etc. I like the strategy games. Im not really into the toys & stuff though. I collect antique & modern weapons mostly.

Modern tabletop wargaming originated in Prussia, was refined to a public audience by H.G. Wells, had a resurgence because of Dungeons and Dragons and a revival was attempted by Gary Gygax. It wasn't until Games Workshop created their own game systems did they create Warhammer.

As someone who not only plays table top 40k and works at a game store. I think Kyle would be surprised at the average 40k player. They're not all neck beards.

If you’re interested in dungeons and dragons I’d recommend checking out Solasta, it’s a pretty good game that functions basically just like D&D. It comes with a prefab story and the character creation is pretty easy to get into, there’s also dlc with a second campaign and another is on the way I think.

Didn't Kyle own like 300 guns? Hate to tell you this, but that's not any less nerdy than if you had hundreds of swords lying around your house.
To be fair at least you can shoot targets or hunt with guns, you can't really do much with swords beyond look at them or swing them around.
Even the ones used at reenactments have to be specially made and aren't really for display.
So yes one is more nerdy than the other, and don't get me wrong I don't own any guns

Warhammer 3 is one of the worst Total War games. They literally just put in reload animations for the majority of missile units. Shogun 2 and Medieval 2 are 100x better.

Hell Let Loose is rewarding when playing with friends or a clan. If you don't know how to play or run a mic you ruin the game for everyone else effectively.

You guys should play fps tank games. War Thunder or World of Tanks. It's not as rabid gerbil nonsense as fps games like CoD or BF. Look into them, they are a lot of fun. Basically FPS games for old people.
