The NCAA needs to learn that it's the players that makes them so big, if there were no players, there would be no NCAA... Technically they do get paid. Tuition can range from $5k-$80k so that. Plus they get free food and housing, and they get monthly stipends.
But yeah they should get paid for their likeness

For people who think LeBron is currently the elite. Your wrong. The people who pay LeBron are the true elite.

I hate this discussion because the pro athletes and broadcasters only think about the top schools. Alabama, USC, etc. But what about the small schools. Paying players will cause small schools to drop athletes programs. Because I went to a small school you never heard of on a tuition only scholarship.

A lot of people argue that student athletes deserve to be paid because they “bring in so much money for the school” but what about small D2 schools whose athletes work just as hard but probably cost the school more money than they make? Hell since I pay tuition to go to a D2 school I am probably responsible for more of my institutions revenue than the athletes on scholarship..

  • @saucecastillo460

I've been sayin this for YEARS. Every time paying players comes up, I always say the schools/ncaa don't havta pay them, let them make money off their likeness, that way the ncaa can still exploit....I mean make money off "amateurism" & the players only miss out on tv, video game, merch & ticket sale money. I'm prolly forgetting some other streams, but those are the ones that came to mind

It seems to be against the goals of schools and the NCAA not to allow college athletes to earn money from their likeness, because a college student athlete has a greater incentive to stay in college and finish earning their degrees. It is in the interest of education to allow student athletes to earn endorsement money, not only as an incentive for star athletes to postpone the pros and continue their education, but also to provide the student with the means to pursue his education inside of circumstances that are financially stress free.

It's very easy to simply prove that the ncaa is breaking worker rights. They athletes are doing work that is generating money for various entities, and aren't receiving monetary compensation. The "free education" is simply overhead for these entities to get paid.
