Julian Plaza plays "Payadora" (2000)

On my first trip to Buenos Aires, I was fortunate to hear and video Maestro Plaza. I, my wife, QuinTango's founding director, Joan Singer, along with two QuinTango musicians Bruce Steeg and Libby Blatt, attended the monday evening concert at El Viejo Almacen (21 Aug 2000). After the concert, we met with Maestro Plaza. The next day, Plaza presented arrangements of "Danzarín" and "Nocturna" to Joan. Both piece were recorded by QuinTango on their third CD, "To Buenos Aires With Love - 2003." This clip is in memory of the Maestro.

Beautiful. I was born in the same farming community. I am younger and and did not meet him but interchanged some emails in the late 90s. His children are invited back to the town from time to time when there are special celebrations. Legend has it that he learnt at a very young age by himself from a course by post.
