Hi guys, Alan here from NZ. Just a couple of comments on your trip from Corfu to Prevaza. While you were ashore at south end of Corfu you commented on what the black netting was under the olive tree, that is for collection of the olives when they are ready they shake the tree and the olives drop into the netting. I would also like to mention that you sailed passed another gem at Paxi and Andi Paxi very secluded and well worth keeping in mind for next time. Regards Al.
Thanks Alan, yes we did visit Paxi the first time we went through, loved Lakka, the water was so clear :) That makes sense under the olive trees haha. We have spent the last week in Milos, visiting all the places we didn't see the first time. Beautiful!!!!!! My favourite Island now :)
Enjoying your channel, but most impressed with your dedication to respond to comments and answer people's questions. Virtually all the other channels kinda respond if you hit the video right when it comes out, but you can't rely upon them to answer questions. You guys set the bar on that! Great job!
Hi Kent, thanks so much :). Yes we try to help where we can and provide as much information as possible. Currently we aren't sailing which is a shame but hopefully some people are enjoying the videos and learning. We plan to be on the water next year and continue our journey. Thanks again and appreciate the kind words!
Hello Kawai This is what I dreamed of last year: in your footsteps Actually sailing path Last two days sailed from Corfu to Lefkara Yesterday motoring, but today topsailing Wind 4 - 5 Bf, boat perfectly trimmed Simply trimmed sails and she sailed 7 knots for 1 hour With wheel simply locked Everybody on board enjoyed it First full family outing in 15 years Glad to take inspiration from you Keep it going Tomorrow overnighter to Patra Beautiful pictures
Hi Jan, so great to hear you are loving it! Sounds like you had some great sailing conditions :) . It also sounds like it's something the family won't forget! I was wondering how you went, there was some bad storms in and around Corfu and where we were in Ithaca. We had 60 knots in Vathy, keep me updated and have fun!
Hello Kawai We passed by Vathy day before yesterday And kept going up towards Patras We made landfall at daybreak Great sailing before entering gulf Took in 1 reef, first, eventually 2 Then wind at due east turning into Gulf We tried 3 times, ( 3 hours) then switched on engine, basically sailed and back in front of Gulf So motored into gulf Wind freshened, we lost our windmeter Took down gib , main minimum surface Had to motor 30 degree of wind Captain estimates it went above 8 Bf Arrived in Patras and clutch failed on entry Managed to moor safely Currently waiting for spare parts A day in the sailing of Leisure Time Great sunset and sunrise, in between less enjoyable Boat and captain did very well
Hi Guys, love checking in and living vicariously through you!...love the real feel to your travels that makes it enjoyable to watch...happy to see the bits and pieces of daily sailing life like paying tolls through the canal...safe travels and fair winds...yamas Στην υγειά σας PS..Your videos keep getting better and better
Hi, thanks so much for the positive comments, appreciate it! We are learning all the time so hopefully we can keep improving the videos :). Thanks for watching!
Lovely candid videos from lovely candid people. 🧡 Enjoyed the laid back feeling that sailing in Greece should be. And it is! 😎 We have sailed these waters for more than a decade, and is so nice to see people enjoying their time there, as we do every time. And watching you going to the same restaurant we've been just a few months ago brings us back some really sweet memories. Thank you and Godspeed in your travels!
Hi Alexandru, thanks so much for the kind words, we really love everything about Greece and hope to spend much more time in those waters. Awesome, we really enjoyed the restaurant, I wanted to go back a second time haha. Are you still sailing? Hopefully we will run into each other in the future, thanks again, best wishes :)
Really enjoying your channel. Really enjoying watching you learn. Our confidence is slowly building for a similar adventure. Thsnk you sgain for sharing..
Thanks very much, glad you are enjoying the videos and appreciate the kind words. Yes we are always learning a lot and it's great you are learning planning for your own trip, best of luck and thanks for watching :)
Really enjoy your informative Vlogs. Having sailed extensively through the Pacific in my youth, you guys are inspiring me to contemplate a few years sailing the Med. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Robert :), glad you are enjoying the videos! We have really enjoyed the Med, but can't wait to get to the pacific, thanks for watching and the kind words, appreciate it!
Awesome, glad you enjoyed the video! We will continue to add to the videos while we sail through the Med, Turkey next! Thanks for watching and following along :)
Hey! We moored up in Preveza in 24th Aug. Managed to get onto the town quay but down side was busy night life!! Not a problem as we were pretty tired...
Certainly tell the difference from your spontaneous conversation and when you are reading from a script. Glad you enjoyed my home Island of Corfu, if you ventured to the north of the Island up to Erikousa then I was probably sitting on my veranda watching sailing by, trying to find your progress through AIS...no luck, happy sailing.
Haha yeah, our casual conversation isn't quite as considered. Which do you prefer? Ah you live on Corfu, we love your Island, so many unique areas. We spent a couple of weeks previously up the northern end, what a wonderful view you must have! We are currently leaving Katakolo on our way around the Pelopennese. Thanks for your comment and watching the vid :)
I like the spontaneous reactions, however, if your anything like me (which I am sure your not, as you are doing and I am watching lol) after summing up add lib I would have missed something out with my usual comment "I wish I had said...." so you have the best of both, enjoy your life.
Hahaha no I say that all the time as well 'should have said ...'! So voiceovers do come in handy. All the best Roly :) we may pass by your view again in the future!
Hey guys, another really nice video - just wondering if you remember the name of the Taverna in Preveza with the enormous pork belly serving? We are heading that way next season and it's always nice to find somewhere a little off the beaten path to eat!
Hey Bonno, thanks very much :). Just had a look then and it's called 'To Tempelxaneio', the owner is Michael, really nice guy who speaks great English. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
Wohoooo you must be excited. Hopefully you get some great winds from behind, let us know how you get on :). We are currently in Ithaca, might run into you in the Cyclades!
Expecting 4 - 5 Bf N - NW , 18 C , sunny: Ideal for sailing away from Corfu Great pictures again and lot’s of practical tips You are surpassing yourselves
Hi Guys, Love the Hanse yacht! What was your short list of must have’s on the yacht that you purchased it seems to be self tacking, which makes things easier. What creature comfort’s and other important equipment that makes your ideal yacht? Best Peter.
Hi Peter, self tacking was something we liked, we also have solar panels, diesel generator, fans, inverter, heating & aircon (haven't used), we would love a water maker (expensive). In-mast furling has been really easy and simple, originally we didn't want it. We also wanted a boat with a large swimming platform, which the Hanse has which makes cruising and swimming enjoyable. Hope that helps, let me know if you want any clarification or have further questions, chat soon!
Hi gang! Great see you both. Wondering how you are enjoying the Hanse. Has it disappointed you at all? Would you buy it again now that you've had some time with her? Thx! Stay safe!
Hey mate, how are you? We are really happy with our Hanse, we haven't had any real problems with her at all, saying that she only had 500 engine hours on her when we purchased and was well maintained. Some of the additions the previous owner installed need fixing (solar panels, electric toilet). We would buy her again, we have sailed and lived on her for 1 year straight and she has held up well :) Thanks for getting in contact, chat soon!
Hey mate, the Taverna is in South Corfu in a small village of Petriti, just South of the village and is called 'Panorama', it is a beautiful spot, hope you get to visit :)
Thanks so much Peter, we looked at other concepts others had used to name their boats, and so we searched for a name that resonated with us, we liked what 'Kawai' meant which was 'from the water' in Hawai and that's how we named her, hope that helps :) Thanks for watching!

Really good vid, you are my favourite sailing channel. natural and modest + a Hanse!
Wow thats a compliment and a half, thank you!!! Hope we can keep making video's you like hahaha, thanks again for watching :)

Hello Kawai
We passed by Vathy day before yesterday
And kept going up towards Patras
We made landfall at daybreak
Great sailing before entering gulf
Took in 1 reef, first, eventually 2
Then wind at due east turning into Gulf
We tried 3 times, ( 3 hours) then switched on engine, basically sailed and back in front of Gulf
So motored into gulf
Wind freshened, we lost our windmeter
Took down gib , main minimum surface
Had to motor 30 degree of wind
Captain estimates it went above 8 Bf
Arrived in Patras and clutch failed on entry
Managed to moor safely
Currently waiting for spare parts
A day in the sailing of Leisure Time
Great sunset and sunrise, in between less enjoyable
Boat and captain did very well
