- Lola loves racing Andrew in the pool. Lola will sometimes let him win but usually, she always beats him. Lola was rescued from her local lake, where she was abandoned by her mom and the other swans rejected her. Andre and PJ then decided to bring her into their home and give her the best life possible. Now Lola spends her days swimming in their pool and her nights cuddling with her new family

Rescuing wildlife, the goal is always returning them to the wild. But sometimes, circumstances make that unsafe or impractical. Fortunately, Lola found a LOVING family that welcomed her into their home. She, in turn, clearly makes their life more fun and meaningful!
You couldn't have said it any better. If an animal is unable to be released, this is the absolute best case scenario you could ask for. A loving, open home
The goal is saving the animals. Truth is many many released animals don't make it. Especially in the bird world. As long as an animal has plenty of food and a flock or pack of love they will be all good.

The nene (geese) here in Hawaii are going extinct, and you aren't allowed to do anything about it.
They would make fantastic pets. They are super friendly birds.
They would also make fantastic livestock.
At least then they wouldn't be going extinct.
We could even make them a tourist attraction. Geese that like pets.
But no, because something something natural nature something something PETA.
@jtjames79 That's one interesting bird. And it sure sounds like nothing really is being done. 50 birds at one point even. I lived on st. Thomas for 11 years. It's nearly impossible to get some thing accomplished on an island.

These are animals that come right up to people anyway. There's almost nothing wild about them.
I have indoor diaper wearing pet chickens that I take to the park sometimes. The geese will come right up just to hang out.
It's infuriating.
She clearly has a fantastic quality of life. She is so very lucky to find such a loving home.
You are giving Lola the best of both worlds. She is clearly loved and cherished. This couple clearly values and respects Lola.

I used to rescue animals rejected by their mothers, birds, cats, dogs!
I used to feed wild Swans 🦢 Geese, ducks,, they ate from my hand! Mostly made me feed them in their gobs! They do love hugging with their necks!

To cute we had a duck when we were kids named her Charlene my dad worked for the parks and recreations and she followed us home she love my dad so much we lived up the street from the park she followed us in our station wagon and we kept her my dad took her back to the lake old behold she started chasing our station wagon we were crying but we loved our Charlene what a good old duck

It's nice that you gave the little one the opportunity to grow up, but at some point nature will call and Lola will want to seek out her own kind. Swans are great animals, we have three depicted in our family coat of arms, two large and three small, as many as our surname has letters. My family comes from Sweden, where family crests are not uncommon. Enjoy the time you still have with Lola, because there is nothing more beautiful than that.
