Havin a j and watching your videos before bed has been a pleasure of mine for a bit. Wonderful work as always, and can't wait to see more. Hope you and yours are well!
The table on my terrace outside needs replacing. When I see this I’m thinking more and more about making it myself. Or maybe take an existing piece of furniture and chance it like you did. The end result definitely looks amazing!
This was a creative and ambitious shortcut to a new bench. The little old bench could easily have decided it was time to die and fallen apart in your hands, which would have made the situation all that more frustrating. But, it worked and here you are with a new (to you) bench! Well done.
I believe if you add a drop leaf extension to the exit side of your table saw you'll be a lot happier. The advantage of a drop leaf extension is to support a longer piece of wood while having the ability to reduce the size of your table for storage. 4 hinges, 2 legs and the additional wood for the extension and you're done. 👍👍👍👍
Excellent project, well done! But, let me give you some guidance on future lumber purchases. look at the end grain. The ends of the boards, not the long sides or the faces. ideal: end grain runs through the thickness of the board, and both ends match Okay: end grain runs across the width of the board, both ends match, this is face cut wood, it is cut this way to show the face grain, for highly visible places. Bad: the end grains forms complete arches. This is centre cut wood, it is very unstable and will cup towards the top of the arch over time. if the ends don’t match, it will also twist badly over time. all the other cuts are so so.
This was my kind of project. The table is out of my league for now haha. And yeah, agree with you and everyone else, these turned out really nicely. Thanks for the continued updates on projects! It's definitely keeps up the 'ole やる気 for my own projects.
Now this is creative! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and the greatest of these is Reuse. Extending the frame of the original bench and reinforcing it is a great, low-cost solution that extends the original investment in the bench. It's amazing what you can accomplish with imagination and basic tools. Very impressive!
So when we tore down walls I have left over really thick smooth and long pieces of wood from the shoji doors. I am thinking of making a thick table top by slicing in half and putting together. Maybe crazy idea but going to give it a try. Plus I get to say I repurposed wood from the house. Let’s see…maybe 3 or 4 Christmas from now 😅
one thing i noticed using saws is that if the board doesnt stay straight all the way through you dont get straight cuts it may be worthwhile making an extension for your tablesaw to keep the board from falling off the end or from moving side to side
Came out really nice! Good looking feature or mabye it shoult be called design and not a lengthening disguise element in between the two leg sections. Goes well with the table. Great work and great thanks.
@@TokyoLlamaPlus thanks a lot. I did mit notice the switch in channels. You are quiet an inspiration for more diy projects. Thanks for all the ideas, insights and vibe 🙏
@@TokyoLlamaPlus oh yeah I didn't even think about cushions in case you wanted to have a fluffier sitting spot, but yeah I understand that you might prefer it like that.
I love the idea of using parts of the old bench to both recycle and also save a lot of time. It looks very good!
Thanks!

I agree, it looks really nice! And so does the dining table...
Thanks Nynke!
Upcycling at its finest!

Thank you! Yes, it was on its last legs…

A drop leaf is a great idea! I'll do that, thanks!
next project you need to try the burning of the wood to show the grain - Yakisugi / Shou Sugi Ban
I'm planning a project doing this, hopefully this year.
You might have more Makita tools than I do. JK. I don’t think anyone has more than me. But you deserve a sponsorship!👍🏻
😁 I'd love a Makita sponsorship!
Excellent project, well done!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep that in mind in future.
Awesome!!! Great table and love the casual foot wear 💪
😁 thanks Merv!
I have no idea why you didnt put this on your normal channel equally interesting as how you made the table
Yes, you're right, I should have!
That’s an excellent solution, and a good use of resources. It looks great, as does the table. I use Osmo on my oak kitchen worktops- it’s good stuff.
Thank you! Yes, it’s so easy to apply too.
Table and bench very well done.
Thanks very much!
And theres a bench, nice job😊
Thank you!
what a talented man!

It's incredible how good it turned out. Congratulations
Thanks very much!
I wish we have all the tools that you have Jaya 😅😅
😁 at least I’m getting good use out of them!

Thanks Michael, reusing was much more satisfying than I expected. I’m going to consider doing more projects like this in future.
Watched both videos. Very nice work. I know about doing it and then finding something I hadn't counted on happening.
Really enjoy your videos.
Great, thanks very much!

That should work - maybe when I visit you I'll bring my tools down!
Maravilloso! Hermosa manera de reciclar y aprovechar al máximo la madera. Adoré ver la construcción. Mis felicitaciones al constructor :)
Muchas gracias y saludos!

I did make my sawhorses to match the height of the bench to use as in/out feed supports - not sure why I didn't use them!
@@TokyoLlamaPlus i should add that your trick of cutting the boards at the same time works wonders because the bench and table came out great
❤

Thanks, yes, “design feature” does sound better! 😁
Looks terrific. Are you accepting orders ? 😉
😁 Thanks!
Good repurpose and as a fat guy I’m rather fond of bench seats.
Ha ha, they're convenient!
Great Work 👌Wanted to watch the table vlog but sadly I can't find it. Was ist taken down?
Thanks, it's still there on the main channel - see link in description!

I was wondering will you upholster the bench at some point, seeing it so bare gives the idea of a very uncomfortable sitting experience
It's a personal preference as some people prefer wooden chairs and benches, but of course we can use cushions there.
