I’ve only ever seen a reference to this show before in another show and all I remember is the joke was that one of the characters thought that the guy was an actual monk and didn’t realize it was his last name
Haha, there's actually an episode where he is surrounded by monks which is pretty funny. 😂 Growing up I didn't realize how many people also followed the show. But I was pretty obsessed as a kid. 😅
Ever since that episode I call Ted Levine 'Brother Leland' whenever I see him in a show/movie! Thanks for covering this show, I used to watch it in Germany and a lot of my friends did too. I would love to see you make more of these, since a lot of people seem to like the series.
My mom is all about these murder mystery shows; she watched Monk and Psyched and everything else. And she runs into the same problem you ran into during this review, that what seems like just a fun little show is very grim when you try to explain it.
This show was (and still is) a household favorite! There's so much heart and charm behind it. Watching new episodes premiere was a huge highlight for me growing up, so it's very near and dear to my heart even if aspects of certain episodes and jokes aged a little poorly.
I think Monk is hilarious in general. I've seen several episodes earlier, but I'm currently watching through the whole series from the very first episode of season one and forward. I just got to this episode tonight and since I've been an avid Alice Cooper fan since my early teens (in the 70s) it really made my day when Monk came up with the theory that Alice Cooper was the murderer. For your info, his original name is Vincent Damon Furnier, but he legally changed it to Alice Cooper in the mid 70s for practical reasons. And, he is known for being a really super nice guy, which is very plain to see in interviews with him, as well as he (surprisingly) is a devote Christian since beginning of the 80s. I've seen him on stage several times and he really has a stage presence that for lack of better can be called demonic, his acting that I've seen in cameos earlier though has not been that great, but in this scene here he's really good. Anyway, a really nice surprise. Another funny thing, not related to this episode, is that I've been following the court case of the Floyd murder and discussed the matter of hung juries with some friends just a couple of days ago, and when I was watching my daily Monk episode that evening, it happened to be just the episode where Monk gets jury duty and the jury gets hung because Monk does go against the rest of the jury.
@@AveryTalksAboutStuff 💯 agree! I remember when he first showed up in Grimm, I got excited to see him, and then I found out it was a solid role and not a one off and it made me over the moon w joy!
I love seeing Alice Cooper pop up in stuff. He plays a possessed vagrant in a few scenes in John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness, if you want to see him not being a lovely person.
I absolutely loved Monk as a teenager, I used to watch it every day after school just before diagnosis murder. Also I love Munro, best thing about Grimm. Especially later in the series.
It's here, it's actually here! What a great way to start my morning!! 🤩 I had no idea you have experience with OCD as well my dude 🥺 that shit it rough, Im still trying to figure out how to cope in this world 😫
I never really got into the show, but I love Tony Shaloub. Also I like that this show means a lot to you. I am some one is kind of on the spectrum and the main character of Bones Dr.Brennan is someone I can relate to on that level. My mom got me into the show and told she reminded her of me.
@@AveryTalksAboutStuff Speaking of shows with Alice Cooper as a guest star, the original Muppet Show is coming to Disney + next month. All five seasons of the show.
@@shelbymckinney8888 I'm an old Alice Cooper fan and remember how happy I was when the Alice Cooper episode of The Muppets was aired in the end of the 70s. Now a days I'm a translator (mainly from English to swedish, which is my native language), I had the pleasure of subtitle translating several episodes of the original Muppet episodes last year, and to my immense delight of one of the episodes I got from the agency was the Alice episode. And it was even better than I remembered.
Sorry his name is not Alice Cooper he was born Vincent Damon Furnier. sorry to burst your bubble. this is not the wierdest show Alice Cooper has done.... he was on the original Muppet Show and sang "welcome to my nightmare" along side the muppets.
Thank you for sharing that 💛 my mom and I still watch it constantly as a comfort show. Mental illnesses including ADHD and anxiety run in the family so this show means a lot to us.
so, these union reps never heard of the term "conflict of interest"? Monk wants works to go back to work but they still trust him to investigate the truth? The mayor was prob like "I may have murder accusations thrown at me but BACKDOOR DEALS? Preposterous!" Also, the guy who played monk is great in Marvelous Mrs Maisel

Yes, I grew up with all these shows and I love them! But yeah... definitely hard to explain it without it sounding extremely dark. 😅

Agreed! We literally watch this all the time and as a kid growing up with anxiety and ocd it really helped to normalize the struggle to me.
I've never watched Monk so this will be my introduction 🙂
I hope you like it! 💛
I loved this series growing up! I haven’t watched it in forever.
It just makes me happy every time I see it. 🥰

That actor from Grimm was always my favorite as well! 😍💖
