My wife has just started getting back into painting and I'm going to use these plans to build her an easel for her birthday. I'm terrible at working with wood, but I think even I can make this work. Thank you!
Do a second canvas holder for the top, too.
The Brand New cover for the paining 😎
I did one of those about 5 years ago.
Nice choice 👌
This is really cool! I'll do it! Thanks!
Awesome! Glad we could help! Thanks for stopping by and supporting the channel!
Thanks!
Thanks so much amazing work and also very simple way
I’m glad to hear you liked the project! Thanks so much for checking out my channel! 😀
Would love to see an idea to expand on something for the top to secure the canvas while you paint. I am searching YT for a DIY easel stand, love your design but I can be heavy handed. I like my painting not to move while I am painting lol. Very nice build though, I love maple wood beautiful wood.
Thanks for checking out the video! If you wanted a piece to secure the top, you could follow the exact same idea as the bottom tray, but basically flip it upside down for the top. I think that should work!
Sure thing! If you try it, comment back and let me know how it works!! I’m sure other viewers would find it helpful too 😀
Thank you for the tutorial. I'm looking to make an easel for my wife and am checking out a bunch of UA-cam videos. I noticed when you were ripping the wood that you weren't using a rip blade.
Very helpful...easy to do..thank you...regards from india
Glad you enjoyed the project! Thanks for checking out the video and for your support
Brans new fan? Thats the album cover to deja entendu. Love it!
I would love to purchase your easel.

What kind of 2x4 would work best if I don’t have maple?
Hey Chris! Just a standard 2x4. Make sure to get one that’s kiln dried. You’ll be able to tell by looking for “KD” marked on the wood. A 96” long one should be right around $3-$4
Just subscribed !. Making this for my girlfriends birthday 😂
That’s awesome, Israel! I hope it works out well for you! Thank you so much for the support
great looking easel but why is there nothing to hold the painting from the top. sorry, im no expert.
Thanks for checking out the video and reaching out! Our client asked for no top hold down, and instead wanted the easel be able to told back more. Gravity holds the painting in quite well. You could definitely add one though!
Is it necessary to cut that 10° in 2:28 ? I don't have the tools to do that . Can i drill it directly without cutting that 10° ?
Hi, Casper! You can certainly do it without the 10 degree cut, it just won’t look as clean.
@@SpencleyDesignCo Oh okay thanks for your advice I'll try cutting that 10° to get that clean look .
Glad to help! If you don’t have a table saw, a miter saw, circular saw, jigsaw, or even handsaw would work just fine!
@@SpencleyDesignCo I'll definately try it with my circular saw .. and thanks again for your awesome advice 👊 .
Thanks for the video. It was great. Except for the constant asking for liking the video! I liked it. But I almost didn't, simply because of the bothersome asking aha
Making videos is just like anything else in life, always learning how to make them better!
Does it matter how much I cut off on the 10 degree angle?
Carsten, it’s not critical that you’re absolutely perfect on that cut. There are free plans for this project on my website: www.spencleydesignco.com/maple-art-easel
National Bouillabaisse Day
The link for the design doesn’t work anymore :/
Which link? I just tested the one in the description and it took me to the website where the plans are
I wonder if you know that your website is unavailable
Which link are you trying to click on? Hoping I can rectify the issue. Thanks!
Brand new 😬
I was lucky enough to see them 4 times on their last tour...it was INSANE!
As an artist, I don't think any A frame easels are gonig for $500, even in today's economy (the highest I've seen around are less than $300). H frames are the more expensive ones (up to $1000).
Good techniques, camera angles, lighting, focus etc and beautiful finished product, but instructions acutely lacking in ease of understanding because of narration and shot editing.
Thanks nonetheless for the video and your time and effort.
Thanks for checking out the video 😀 all the measurements you need are in the free pdf plans to accompany the video
Nice idea but I came here for DIY because I am poor and cannot afford an easel, what makes you think I have power tools? I have 2 old screw drivers and sand paper.... I'm not completely shitting on this, it has given me some inspiration of how to build one but this is rich people DIY to me.
Thanks for the feedback, Kai. Looks like this project wasn’t for you.
You guys sound's so boring while explaining 🤣no energy at all
I don’t disagree. This is one of the first videos I ever made. Take a look at a more recent one and let me know if there’s improvement 😀
Thanks for much for checking out this video! We've got a ton of other projects we know you will love. We'd love if you would consider subscribing to help this tiny channel grow! Thanks!
