It's amazing to me how he expanded his compositional and conceptual palette to then refine it to the point where he could produce such a pretty and satisfying trio. Thank for posting this, my favorite new trio.
beautiful music, serenity and wit, and an extraordinary degree of craftsmanship in every detail of the various figures in the instrumental writing. Now I am longing for TREUE which ist on the same CD :)

Stockhausen should have stuck with integral serialism. His works from the early 1950s were concentrated and compact -- even edgy -- and promised wonderful things for the future. But then...
I love later Stockhausen too. He MASTERED Wagnerian large-scale forms, in the way that Webern mastered miniature forms. There is so much to be inspired and influenced by in his work :)
I've just read this Sir and I have to say it's not the going dialectical trend but the composers talent and vision that makes possible works such as Kontrapunkte , Gruppen ,Zeitmasse and the Klavierstuck . As great as these works are you eventually have to move on from pursuing your present mode of operations to ever more fertile lands !Boulez's " at the limits of fertile land" claimed ages ago the "limits" you go to in a system and to what finite limits it would actually serve are self evident. Even HE understood , while writing Structures, this would render the period of the language of that time . Darmstadt composers , so called , found themselves in a sort of "fascism" of serial composition ,Years back when I took composition lessons from Earle Browne and Richard Rodney Bennett I learned from bothof them that " an enormous machine had been brought about " and nearly all but a few could do anything more with it.Enter Cage , Feldman , a hyper awakened Stockhausen . Xenakis ,Ligeti , and already history proves clever escapes ! This does not mean that "serial composers" did NOT produce great work . they most certainly did !!But each and every one of them evolved and did so quite differently! Sorry I don't type, thanks for reading .
His comments were actually taken out of context by some random journalist. He was reported have said that "9/11 is the greatest work of art" when in actuality he really said that "9/11 is the greatest work of art of Lucifer", which makes sense when you think about it.
Difficilissima da apprezzare, eppure affascinante e anche, incredibile, dolcissima...🤩 Il filmato le rende molto godibile.

+Namekuseijin Br Give me Cecil Taylor any day of the week.
How well said :) :(((((
Sounds like a good trip to me
it sounds like Zappa to me
Holy shit it's me!
XD
Or, maybe, Zappa sounds like Stockhausen...or Eric Dolphy...or Johnny Guitar Watson.😂

+lendallpitts To each his own I guess as with everything. I love later Stockhausen, Licht et al.

I think this is really interesting, you are onto something here. .
'you' meaning Steve McComas
This man was clearly a mad hatter.......... consider his commentary about 9/11

The beginning sound like an ripoff from Wagners Parsifal.
