  • I added another Skylark to my collection today. This one is a survivor! Very excited to have this car.

Both of my 64’s came with v8 turbo 300 with aluminum heads and the 65 Grand Sport had a 401 but back of engine and bell housing was BOP so type casting and the 4 speed trans is cast iron.

Awesome find, very nlce car. That is my favorite year Skylark.
Turbo the v6, see what the older one can do? But truthfully that st300 transmission is what makes that thing gutless. Bolt a 700R4 up to that would wake it up a bunch. But definitely that 401 would be way more funner with a 700R4 bolted to it.😎👍

I admire your optimism. More than likely the dauntless will be at the bottom of Lake Wylie before it's over with. I am either going to put the 401 back in this car or possibly a 455 that I have on a stand in the garage also. I have a few other engine options for it as well. I'll probably change my mind though four times before I settle on something lol.

Both good choices but before you retire the v6, a couple videos of it going down in a blaze of glory would be awesome. A cheap turbo from the Bay of e and see what that little guy can take before you do all that work to remove it? Would be a great video series for your channel.😎👍

Oh or perhaps how big of a shot of nitrous it can take before giving up the ghost? Maybe both, that would make an even cooler video series.😁😎👍

Odd Fire 225 V6. I have the same motor in my 67 Special Deluxe bought new by my great grandparents. I have changed to a HEI and dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers. It also has the ST300 Switch Pitch trans. For fun I have run it a few times at LACR and Pomona drag way. It was by far not fast but did run 18s. I think it has a 2.93 rear it does very well here in CALIFORNIA on the freeways in SoCal.

A 700R4 would wake that car up, those
st300 transmissions really slow a car way down. After the transmission swap a turbo would be a great addition if you want more?
To bad we can't share pictures on here, sounds like you have a nice '67.😎👍

I would leave that little 64 stock. Drop a HEI in it and some dual exhaust remove the heat raiser and you would be surprised.

@76629online Didn't see how to reply with a video. I wish I had video of the track in CA. I just never thought of it.
