Lovely idea to put a lecturer on site to talk about what is being filmed. I spent all my summers growing up on Arrowsic, bordering Sewell pond. There, we occasionally saw very large fish break water. Were they salmon, or another breed coming up the outlet from the Kennebec to breed? AS children, we never knew. But I saw one which I initially thought was a human! Any way, thank you for the introduction to estuaries. And perhaps you did not think about the outlet from a fresh water pond and its role in the river ecology.

If they were big enough that you thought they might be human you probably saw sturgeon! They can be 6 feet long and are often seen in the Kennebec River (near Gardiner, for example).
