@@redrider7730 me too. I bought 25 of the hex receiver guns from dunhams in somerset ky about 10 years ago for $80. All arsenal refinished, bayonets, tool kits and oil bottles with slings. They didn't have price variations on different models, or stampings back then. No one collected them or knew what they was. I would go buy them 5 at a time.

Bought an excellent condition from yall 5 years ago... gun chock full of cosmoline 1/2” thick over the entire gun. Wiped some off the receiver to see the maker mark and it was deep pitted rust. The “excellent condition” gun had been rebored and “arsenal refinished” aka black paint put on rust. Sold it at a loss. Will never buy used from classic firearms again.

I remember when Big 5 sold them for less than $45, then you could clip a $5 coupon out of their magazine, and get an additional $5 if you were Military. Yep... I was a kid, and I begged my dad to buy one, but he said "Nah Son, they'll be here when you're an adult, and you can buy as many as you want." I paid $105 for mine, and I thought that was outrageous...

Referring to those "double date stamps", my 91/30 has a date stamp of 1942/51/52. Doesn't that mean that it was rebuilt twice? I was always told that that meant it was issued out on those years. Either way I still love it, all matching numbers, metal is great, bolt is very smooth after some care but the wood is definitely used

The double date guns have MO markings. This is a Ministry of Defense mark. Those were rifles used by the MoD after WWII for protection of government buildings and gulags. They used Mosins because they didn't want foreign prisoners to know about the SKS or later the AK. Also they were available by the millions post war and a guards rifle wasn't all that important so they didn't necessarily need more than a bolt action. However some MO marked SVT-40s exist as well but that was very uncommon.

I have bought about 12 guns from them. Trust me hand select is not worth $30. I have gotten hand select guns that if they was the best of 10 they should have thrown the other 9 in the trash can, because mine was terrible. The only guns I have found worth fooling with is the ones listed very good to excellent if your worried about cosmetics.

The rifle with the "crack" along the receiver is an ex-sniper rifle. The arsenals removed the scopes and mounts and replaced the wood. In the receiver they welded up the scope mount holes, ground them down, and reblued it. Sometimes the blue didn't take well because of the weld material, but sometimes it is very hard to see, if not impossible. Little tip- open up the bolt and look along the inside of the receiver- you will see 4 holes clearly from the scope mount. Also, the receiver will be stamped to indicate is a sniper as well (usually)- Tula should have a C N on it. Here is a link to see what I mean about the holes on the inside of the receiver. Warning! If you think the Classic guys butched the pronunciation of Izhevsk you are gonna LOVE how this guy pronounces it. ua-cam.com/video/RB7ZYt7RF4g/v-deo.html

Bought one back in January, still trying to figure out the best way to get the bayonet to fit. Seems so long ago...Fuck 2020. Anyway, I'm sitting around waiting for more SKSs to drop cause its something I actually have ammo for...Again fuck 2020

Technically that’s $130 in today’s dollars... so it still would’ve been a pretty good deal but not quite as good as being $69.00 today.

Fuck me, there isn't a rifle on that table worth more than $70.00 USD
From Sandyhook to covid these $29 master pieces have 10x'd in price.
Who remembers the 3 for $99 specials not even 10 years ago
or when 880 rds of corrosive ammo was $75 and they included the can opener..
Hopefully nobody gets burned on these.
Mind you the Russians store shit like this in outside warehouses because they could give a rats ass about 70+ year old rifles..
Whos laughing the last laugh? Standard biz model pricing is cost times at least 3X if your smart 4X that means a $330 rifle cost CF probably $50-60
and BOAT Freight is piss cheap too.. Dont let em fool ya.
