The distinct sound of a 1985 CR500! Not just the short rod, but the aggressive ignition map and high compression. That baby just barks. Thanks for sharing this, there's not any videos like this of an 85 CR5 in the wild actually ripping and not for just 5 seconds. Awesome bike bro!
Had a ‘88 Cr500 and rode the hell out of it for 2 years straight , only thing I replaced was clutch plates - sold her in 91 and missed her everyday since!
Had an 87. Rode in New England enduros. Registered and street legal in NH. Lights , horn , mirror and a quieter silencer. Stopped by police many times, had all paperwork and inspection sticker in order. So much fun. Put thousands of miles on it. 35 years later still miss it.
The 85 model year was the HP king of all the Honda cr 2 strokes to date. They had to de tune the bike in subsequent years because it was too brutal. I noticed you almost looped it in one of those wheelies, no doubt due to the power band and the insane increase in HP in a small rpm range. I remember reading about the bike back in 85 in dirt rider mag and dirt bike.
I've got a full power 85 in my kitchen in england, exactly the same look as this bike....just looking at it every morning before work gee's me up....a classic dirt bike if EVER there was......✌
First 500r I ever rode was the 85', man I wanted to keep it. I later bought a 84 and raced it, both were similar, but my 84 had a explosive power band and the 85 was smoother.
That's what I call "Beautiful noise!" I once owned an 86 CR 250,til my ex🦇 sold💸 it out from under me. Now I'm lookin' for another one. Ready, willing & able to make a serious offer💵 for a pristine✨🏍 bike.
Que maravilla de máquina japonesa ...que placer ver esta maravilla de máquina japonesa oír su sonido de escape y motor ...es una pena que no se sigan fabricando ...ese sonido de dos tiempos suena como música.....
i want a CR500 bike BUT with a CR80 engine in it...i think it would be great for riding around in tighter areas like trails and private property where space is more limited, but full size adults can ride on it comforatably...IMO anything past 80cc just has too much power for general "fun" riding, but they are too small for me
Stroker crank cr500r! The widow maker 😅 they definitely are sweet bikes. Did you upgrade the magnesium cover that tends to rot out with waterpump to the newer aluminum style?
The stroke is same length all years. The rod is 7mm shorter 84-86 yrs. So is the cylinder deck height. What you have is more crankcase pressure and less mass rotating so they spool up and hit much more aggressively and have more torque. Not that you can't stroke a cr 500 but they aren't "strokers" stock any year. 🤙🏼😎
I bought one of these in the mid 80" and not a pro rider at all , Had it less then 2 weeks about killed myself legit , Man oh man they are wicked fast and not meant for novice riders i found that out haaa !
Mere mortals must handle these two stroke purebreds with extreme care, in saying this the 86 CR500 was easier to manage than my 85 YZ490 which was an all or nothing type of bike, it nearly killed me three times and than I sold that MF.
One of the greatest dirt bikes ever.
The king!
THE dirt bike ever 😉

The best year for the 500 after this year, they tamed down this classic. ❤
