I can safely say I was at all these raves back then , from the days of Orange and roller express the rocket and laser drome of the jungle days , 1992-96 ,then as garage kicked in cookies and cream at the bass club then leisure lounge in Holborn, sun city at the temple , LA COSA NOSTRA at the Connaught rooms ..1990s raver here people..!!!
By ‘98 it was all over. The last Garage rave I was at was in ‘95 and even then the scene was becoming murky. Even though I was pure D&B head (Metalheadz Hoxton)I would skank out to some early garage. You only have to look at this rave and see it’s full of kids. That said raving was wicked you could go anyway virtually and just speak to anyone London was on fire for real.
Oh and forgot too say , what a fucking brilliant upload , well done for sharing this vid of the great nights out we used too have In London .... Nice one .... Drove past his house in balham as a mate said he was out washing his vauxhall frontier. I didnt believe my mate so i just went anyway. To my shock he.was there....washing his car. Ironically had a sun city tape playing with him on it as we drove passed. We nodded heads and he gave a friendly smile hearing himself in my car. What a moment. Rip charlie brown. The days of Patrick cox and ya garms having the tags still attached 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 these were without doubt the best racing days IMO 97-99. I’ve hung my cox’s up now but how I’d love to go back for one last shuffle. I was supposed to be at this rave but we got nicked on the way as my mate had kicked off with old bill 😂😂 we was a lucky bunch to have this as our nights out nothing will ever come close to the old days. For me, DT is one of many overrated garage MCs, along with PSG, Kie, Champagne Bubblee, Versatile... garage was full of right-place-right-time MCs and mates of mates who seemed to be on the podium with not much to offer. I don't think that was the case with jungle though. Each to their own though. For me, CKP is the best garage MC - lyrics, rhythm, vibes, work rate. Others I rate are Wiley, B-Live, Buzzhard, Creed, God’s Gift, Hyperactive, Neat, Rankin, Shantie, Sharky P, Dappa, Viper, Wicked.

By then jungle raves weren’t what they use to be. Garage ushered in the “ladies scene”, and not the women in baggy cargo pants/trousers and tank tops (which was perfectly fine, it was the scene). House and House & G put mini skirts and dresses back in clubs in a major way. This all led higher gate prices, deerer alcohol and dance finally breaking pop in a major way (Craig David) Nothing against garage, but from a dance perspective, it has nothing on jungle and drum and bass. As a club thing, it killed jungle/dnb. Jungle was a revolution in music. People raved on a peace vibe till 8am.

I recognise a few North Londoners 😊 raving was so cool back then including jungle raves, people made such an effort and would plan outfits weeks ahead of the rave.
Jungle raves were off the hook. But with the Garage raves you had to wear smart clothes which changed it up. I liked raving to both. Jungle was more relaxed to clothing.
Doing Bugle or Mandy on these weekend nights and dancing non-stop till it closed was a sure fire way of losing weight, You could bang out 1 stone in 2 nights out, Fri/Sat raves, and Keep sunglasses on, dont need to be clocked gurning or have the pupils dilated.
