Along the same lines of Parker (since Brubaker and Philips ended Parker) maybe look at Criminal series by Brubaker and Philips someday, especially with the show on the horizon
Sorry babe can’t come over. The greatest adaptation in comics in being featured One of my favorite homages is the character of Stark that Cooke introduces in his Catwoman run, who looks like Lee Marvin (who plays -Parker- Walker in Point Blank) 18:28 THANK YOU for pointing out the data page. 😂
I imagine Mr Westlake was finally pleased that someone caught the essence of his character. I like Marvin in Point Blank, but I could imagine an early 70s badass Clint Eastwood tearing it up as Parker. He had that mysterious silence that a pro like Parker would've had.
I read the first Parker book when the Mel Gibson movie came out and loved ruthless stripped down style. I might have been a freshmen in high school when I read the first book and though Parker was so damn cool. I went to my local library and search for more of his books. I remember going on reading spare through the books the library had.
IS THAT THE REAL DEAL, BRYAN REHEIL I HEAR?!?? Excellent video as always Doug, The Parker series is something that I first read about a year ago when the complete collected edition from IDW came out, and I instantly fell in love with it, so this video was definitely a huge treat.
This video has me absolutely mesmerized with reading this series of books/comics I’d heard of before as a Darwyn Cooke fan, but never looked into! I don’t wanna spend all my money on comics, but these sound too good to resist!
Thank you for this. I saw the Lee Marvin adaptation of this in the seventies and loved it.I also read this comic and let me tell you D.Cooke really cooks here.
I became a fan of parker through the movies ( both point blank and parker are the better film adaptations) so this comic is just incredible in both art and storytelling and darwyn cooke is a master of that

Darwyn Cooke's Parker is fantastic which says a lot since I don't read crime stories.
Good job man, this comic caught my eye but I couldn't decide, now I think I do.

This is so perfectly timed, I just got my copy of the martini edition in the mail
Great job on this video. Very cool and now I have to find the first three novels. Great job indeed.
Love the Parker novels. And Darwin Cooke achieved the BEST adaptation.
A lot of these were at my local Library!

Makes me want to see a graphic adaptation of John D MacDonald’s Travis McGee character.
3:07 - guy looks like Cameron Mitchell
I wish some great comics team would adapt Westlake's other more comedic Dortmunder books.
Yeaaaah
