Have to agree with this. Both coaches are similar in approach and it's evident. I think the bias comes from people being hyped by the fact that coach Tab beat international teams with a team that's mostly college players. Pero yun nga lang si coach Tab kasi very straightforward and it comes off as arrogant for most ng management. It would have been kung we had both of them. One manages the entire program and the other runs the team. We still need a lot of improvement in terms of developing players from all parts of the country. So many untapped potential waiting to be moulded. If God willing sana, may true national collegiate tournament to develop the talent even further. The same goes for the league. Kinda hard for people to relate to brands than say your own home town or province. Nonetheless, I'm hopeful for this current team we have right now.
One thing na masabi ko we should copy from euro system is yung development program nila. They have youth academies for basketball in the same way na ginagamit nila sa football leagues nila. How are we gonna do it idk HAHAHA but one can dream naman diba 😂

Tim and Tab rely more in the system...the only difference is triangle have more options in terms of offensive plays...that is why no one use this plays anymore in nba due to complexity of the play generated that need to be read in every set option.....hopefully it works wonders with our Philippine team...

Tim learn his lesson when they were obliterated by South Korea.... in his 1st stints as Head coach so he develop the level as defensive coach which was cause by this lesson learn to make the team versatile as constructed.

I noticed that tab gets the players that fit his system, not necessarily the best players, while tim gets the best players and finds a way to make them work within his system.. i prefer tim.

kala mo lang yun. hanggang June 22 lang ang agreement between PBA and SBP. after that, all PBA players will go back to their motherclubs. because of that, Gilas will miss a chance to have a pocket tournament in Lithuania against Lithuania, Belgium and Cameroon, all will play in the OQT.

I agree with most of your assessments. My only concern about Coach Tim is kung kagaya ba siya ni Tab na magaling magdevelop ng players. Nakita natin kay Tab yun sa Ateneo and nung Fiba Tournament na mostly College players ang ginamit. Si Tim Cone kasi, panay proven materials na yun eh. Guys like Standhardinger, Pringle etc. kumbaga magaling talaga yung mga yun eh. Gusto ko makita madevelop niya yung mga bata sila Tamayo, Edu, Kai, KQ and Dwight gaya ng ginawa ni coach Tab dati.
I've known billy for a couple years now. We used to play pickup basketball every tuesday at dumlao. I agree with you bro, most of all that he is saying is based on his personal feelings and not facts. He jsut says what he feels. I was literally LMAO while watching that episode of powcast and listening to billy blabbering. He is like rendon labador clueless as ever. Tim has a good plan for Gilas. The only thing missing is reserve players. Why not integrate reserve players now so they can gain experience and chemistry with the team. I know Tim wants a core but some of the players in the pool will be too old in 4 years time.
Well, actually he's got a point. But only if the international coach is Tab Baldwin since he's proven that he can do the best job in handling Gilas. Pero other international coaches I'm not sure maybe mas okay na si Tim Cone. But Tab Baldwin is a proven international coach with a resume that even Tim Cone doesn't have. Sure Tim Cone is 25-time PBA champion, with a 2 Asian games medals and 1SEA games medal. Meanwhile, you have Tab who has coached international teams for many years and brought New Zealand to the highest finish (4th place) in their country's history in the World Cup. Managed to be competitive with a " batang" Gilas lineup vs strong international teams without relying on a naturalized player to take on the bulk of the scoring load. The best candidate for the Gilas coaching job is still TAB BALDWIN. But since ayaw talaga ng powers that be sa kanya. It's our loss. But Tim's the best we can have right now. And he's a great coach. It's just that bakit pa natin papahirapan sarili natin and not take the best man for the job.

Scottie: pass first wing, constantly moving Brownlee, cj, Jamie & oftana: good cutting skills, plus may tira sa tres - closers KQ: under rated passer & shooter Dwight: hi-IQ alll around player Newsome: avg pg but a very very good sg defender Japeth: athlethic big / vet (knows the system well) We have a clear direction now, plus early results agad pinakita ng gilas, not just the coaches but the players as well... Edu (no offense Kay carl) plus pg-glue-guy type of player, we will be competitive...

Yes. Why not a fresh face with a fresh perspective. Although Cone is a great coach his experience is mostly in the PBA. As Tab said, Philippine basketball is insular. It's difficult to effect changes since we are set in our ways. So our development is going to be slower vs more progressive thinking countries. Oh well. Still, Tim Cone at least is a great coach and is a logical thinker.

Have to agree with this. Both coaches are similar in approach and it's evident. I think the bias comes from people being hyped by the fact that coach Tab beat international teams with a team that's mostly college players. Pero yun nga lang si coach Tab kasi very straightforward and it comes off as arrogant for most ng management. It would have been kung we had both of them. One manages the entire program and the other runs the team. We still need a lot of improvement in terms of developing players from all parts of the country. So many untapped potential waiting to be moulded. If God willing sana, may true national collegiate tournament to develop the talent even further. The same goes for the league. Kinda hard for people to relate to brands than say your own home town or province. Nonetheless, I'm hopeful for this current team we have right now.
One thing na masabi ko we should copy from euro system is yung development program nila. They have youth academies for basketball in the same way na ginagamit nila sa football leagues nila. How are we gonna do it idk HAHAHA but one can dream naman diba 😂

Tim and Tab rely more in the system...the only difference is triangle have more options in terms of offensive plays...that is why no one use this plays anymore in nba due to complexity of the play generated that need to be read in every set option.....hopefully it works wonders with our Philippine team...

kala mo lang yun. hanggang June 22 lang ang agreement between PBA and SBP. after that, all PBA players will go back to their motherclubs. because of that, Gilas will miss a chance to have a pocket tournament in Lithuania against Lithuania, Belgium and Cameroon, all will play in the OQT.

I agree with most of your assessments. My only concern about Coach Tim is kung kagaya ba siya ni Tab na magaling magdevelop ng players. Nakita natin kay Tab yun sa Ateneo and nung Fiba Tournament na mostly College players ang ginamit. Si Tim Cone kasi, panay proven materials na yun eh. Guys like Standhardinger, Pringle etc. kumbaga magaling talaga yung mga yun eh. Gusto ko makita madevelop niya yung mga bata sila Tamayo, Edu, Kai, KQ and Dwight gaya ng ginawa ni coach Tab dati.

I agree with you bro, most of all that he is saying is based on his personal feelings and not facts. He jsut says what he feels. I was literally LMAO while watching that episode of powcast and listening to billy blabbering. He is like rendon labador clueless as ever.

Tim has a good plan for Gilas. The only thing missing is reserve players. Why not integrate reserve players now so they can gain experience and chemistry with the team. I know Tim wants a core but some of the players in the pool will be too old in 4 years time.
Well, actually he's got a point. But only if the international coach is Tab Baldwin since he's proven that he can do the best job in handling Gilas. Pero other international coaches I'm not sure maybe mas okay na si Tim Cone. But Tab Baldwin is a proven international coach with a resume that even Tim Cone doesn't have. Sure Tim Cone is 25-time PBA champion, with a 2 Asian games medals and 1SEA games medal. Meanwhile, you have Tab who has coached international teams for many years and brought New Zealand to the highest finish (4th place) in their country's history in the World Cup. Managed to be competitive with a " batang" Gilas lineup vs strong international teams without relying on a naturalized player to take on the bulk of the scoring load. The best candidate for the Gilas coaching job is still TAB BALDWIN. But since ayaw talaga ng powers that be sa kanya. It's our loss. But Tim's the best we can have right now. And he's a great coach. It's just that bakit pa natin papahirapan sarili natin and not take the best man for the job.

Yes. Why not a fresh face with a fresh perspective. Although Cone is a great coach his experience is mostly in the PBA. As Tab said, Philippine basketball is insular. It's difficult to effect changes since we are set in our ways. So our development is going to be slower vs more progressive thinking countries. Oh well. Still, Tim Cone at least is a great coach and is a logical thinker.
