Great to hear Nicky! That is very kind. How long have you been playing? What are you working on?

The island strum is so ingrained in my genome I'm never getting out of it

The symbol for "and" is called an "ampersand" 😊

Thanks for keeping me strumming on my lunch break. Love the little differences to adapt the island strum!

I have 12 days playing. Got my uke the evening of June ,9th. So far I've been practicing till my fingertips are purple. Ouch!
But What I'm I doing wrong that I don't get a smooth strum sound.

Let’s see if I can help, is it with all strums, strum patterns or the changes from one chord to the next?

What really helped me when I first started is playing a song ridiculously slowly until I could play it smoothly at that speed and then going a little faster, then a little faster... That and lots of Ten Thumbs content.

12:40, how do I learn how to just do that intuitively???

It is A LOT of time playing with backing tracks and jamming. I play with people every chance I get, if I can't then I jam with backing tracks. Elevated Backing Track is a great youtube resource and so is Quist. Then I just plug the scale and in and jam, 30 minutes, an hour, and you do this enough and you'll just start to really master timing, scale shapes, licks, bends, slides, hammer ons, until the point that you can just throw them out there.

@@TenThumbsProductions got you, I'll be practising over jam tracks obviously then!

if you could just tab out the random solo for each video, you'd be doing me a HUMONGOUS favour :D

    • @TenThumbsProductions
      @TenThumbsProductions  3 роки тому

Hahaha, right on, problem is they are totally random! It would take me forever to go through and try and figure them out because I just throw them out.
Where are you at in your soloing journey? Have your learned the scales? Can you improvise? Instead of tabbing out the random solos it would be easier (and more fun) for me to teach you how to make your OWN random solos. Then we could be random solos buddies!

      @@TenThumbsProductions Yeah I figured,
well due to your videos, I went from having no clue as to how to ever solo / improvise :D to being able to throw out random solos in the key of Cm and A right :D
      It's amazing really!
But my style is still somewhat plain and I dont quite use triplets, pullofs and they sound very similar since I mainly resolve on the root or on the 5th with a slide to it :D
You have no idea how much you've already guided me on my journey to mastering this little instrument :D
      (patreon baby!)
And yes a video series on going from zero to hero on soloing would be out of this world!
