@@DavesWorldofFunStuff You're an awesome guy Dave. Thanks for sharing your "world". I'm almost confident enough to do my own set ups after 25 years. Because of this channel, I will be doing my own from now on. Love from WA USA
Usually I see the dots where the frets normally are on an unlined fretless, and between the frets on a lined fretless. That would make playing more difficult for someone who hasn’t developed their ears yet. So many myths busted, pickup height, the bigger the blob the better the job….✌️
A Double Bass special! You could call it a contrabass special (but you shouldn't). I never had the extra bread to invest in a fretless but if I did I'd want one with training wheels (fret lines) like that Yamie. Excellent movie Dave, so happy to have you back and getting healthier.
I've got a black Yamaha fretless that just has the P pickup. Really nice bass, especially I've put flats on it. Really need to play it more often though!
I just seen your video on the harmony rocket I need to find a selector switch for a three pick up I have a 1960 Harmony rocket that was my father-in-law’s I found it up in the attic it was missing the input switch and the selector switch has been busted where would I start
You have mentioned my personal nemesis; the dreaded side dots in the same place as a fretted bass. I Am very curious as to what you would change on the neck to fix this issue. Thank you very much in advance!
Could ya let me know what you don' t like about baby oil so I can explain to Roce & Thomas why I won't be buying their "premium fingerboard oil" (which their MSDS shows is pure mineral oil) -- I was actually planning to use baby oil when I run out of this stuff.
Thanks so much Dave - they both play great! Your call on rounds instead of flats on the fretted was the right one (dare I doubt!) Without your expertise these 20-year old pawn shop relics would remain unplayable. The 6hr drive was worth every litre of overpriced gas 😂 Merci brother!!!!!!!!
Not too often you work on a fretless, yet you pick it up and play it as if that's all you've played.
You never cease to amaze.
50 plus years on the bass..I have played a few hours :)

New band name: The Door Springs
Nice jacket/windbreaker/spring snowboard attire....NASA, WTF Dave, flying the US for the pre-4th ???? ✌😎
Good to have you back , Dave.. hope you are on the mend brother...
That's nice fretless bass.
Hope everything is going well with you, Dave.
Those are nice looking basses. Now that Dave has worked his magic, they're nice playing basses too.
I had the same model of Yamaha fretless. 13-14 years ago. Wish I still did.
Damned straight - NOT for sale. I’ve used it in studio before the banana 😂
Your practical advice is always helpful. When I get a fretless, I'll be sure to remember what you said about fret and dot parallax. Thanks!
Neon colored dot stickers. They would work well for fretless markers. And are great live show hack. Not all guitars/basses have luminlay dot markers.
Dave must've banged his noggin' pretty good = haven't heard the "Quiet Dave" voice in a few episodes...
Be Well Dave
4 door springs. 😂 That’s Dad’s for you.
Once, after getting a particularly short haircut, my Dad said “I don’t like your ‘jailrock cut’”.
🤔😂
That's Dad's what for you?

LOVE the jacket. BTW
Thank you David.
I own the 5 string version of the fretted one, love it
15:20 nice Primus cover Dave!

I put a MM fretless neck on my P bass. No lines or dots on the fretboard. It’s been fun.
Ha! The 4 door springs! Glad to see you are doing better Dave. Cheers!
Thanks 👍
linseed oil works great and last a long time good stuff cheers Dave
Great video.
I reckon that if you're going to play fretless, you shouldn't be too worried about seeing markers.
Oh, ok. Thanks for the help.
Love that jacket

Hi Dave.....ever dig your ear with a nickel fret?
I thought I heard Dave slipping into a little Rush there.
Living in the limelight David is

learn to read music..no time to look at dots on the neck..comove with Sharpie. Cheers !!
Evening Dave.
Nice work Dave...
I have learned much from you.
Glad to hear it
Couple of older nice Yamaha basses. That fretless would be nice to play.
Plays like butter with my 15yr old flats 😆
@@MontrealMusiciansExchange I'd use rounds.
@@trance9158 If you put rounds on a fretless, guessing it would butcher the fingerboard? It came with flats…
@@MontrealMusiciansExchange not necessarily. Tony Franklin uses rounds and doesn't wear his out for years.
F1 oil okay?

Rock on!
glad he's back even if there are ants in his pants
What do you think about the PJ bass? Is it like two basses in one?
no
Fretless bass: I suppose, if you didn't have fret lines, you would measure to half the scale length to find the octave point?
Makes sense to me…
lines are frets
That fretless has a very beefy looking bridge
Yes, I noticed that too. Maybe Dave has the why fore on that. Notice however, it seems to be lifting as well...
Rubbanecks! Livaneck an' Rubbaneck.
No mention of nut height 🤔
I can feel that if it's out ..usually is always not and issue
Seem to be decent guitars after you massaged the settings
Glad your getting better Dave, you havent lost your humour or no how,Cheers!Happy Canuckistan weekend or strong begining!Lol
Like deployed 👍
Thanks ✌
My tech is more of a critical grump
twins but one of them has braces...
Why dose every Canadian guy named Dave sound dead inside these days
COBBLE COBBLE TURKEY
I could never get comfy on those Yamahas. Weird neck stuff.
Grab a sandwich at intermission.
Side dots with fanned frets is my current dilemma.
Gave makes great videos...but I am here to correct him on the title for this video...he should have said FRETTED and fretless...just sayin'...
