Greatest of all time? Hardly. It was an awesome season for him and definitely one of the better starts to a career, but it's not the greatest. James Stewart won 14 SX and MX races in his first year. He really only lost when he crashed. No other rookie was the outright fastest guy right from the beginning in the way James was. You might be too young to have seen it for yourself though.

James was bad ass for sure but don't think the level of competition was as high could be wrong. Seeing how dominant Jett is now and comparing him and Haiden's rookie years I'd have to say I haven't seen a better one and I've been watching for 30+ year's.
Stew, TP199, and Reedy all had phenomenal rookie years in the ama. Deegan is amongst good company by being the first smx lites Champ, but had the smx format been implemented 25ywars ago, those three and many more would be Champs too. That is by no means taking anything away from Deegan. He is a great talent, is well spoken, a man of faith and a good roll model. It is definitely exciting to see him come into his own. As a western NC resident, who is now old and has taken up adventure bike riding and backpacking, it is awesome to see him do well. I do a ton of backpacking and riding around linville gorge, which is a few miles from lake James, where the Deegans have a house. Almost impossible to not cheer for the kid. Great kid, with a ton of heart, but smart on the track too. That's priceless.
Carmichael, pastrana, bubba, reed, and many more had better rookie years. I’m a big deegan fan fyi, but greatest man? Nah bro he won a a title where you can run the number 1 plate for 3 races

No one mentions that the LA Coliseum was also the birth place of Supercross (the 1972 Super Bowl of Motocross) and IIRC also the start of stadium truck racing, quads etc. CONGRATS DEEGANS you deserve it!!

Haiden has been a real breathe of fresh air for the sport he is a 17yr old rookie with mega talent exciting to watch the crowds love him and hes an all american kid and proud of it MX have a real asset in him theres no doubt love him or not he brings the crowds and he is a worthy winner of the title he worked hard for it he earned it i think we are looking at another MX legend starting his pro journey

Wow what a ride!!! I mean the entire three part season. Ive been watching a long time and very proud and pleased. Best part was i finally saw haiden where he seemed overwhelmed. In a totally good way when he saw his mom and dad (especially mom) after the race. I really dont think he knew he won until then. What a load for the young guy to carry for fans friends and family. But you did deliver as you always seem to do. I know I had a tear or two in my eyes just knowing all the things that were put on this young bucks shoulders and how well he handled it all. This is hands down thee greatest 250 class I'd ever seen in all my years of watching motocross (Haiden Deegan, Jo Shimoda, Levi Kitchen, Hunter Lawerence, Justin Cooper, Tom Vialle, RJ Hampsire). I honestly cant think of a 250 class in all of moto history as stacked & talented as this one.

He has been someone for kids and even adults to look up too. I race motocross I raced back in my teen years my bike got stolen. I just got a new 22 yzf 250 last year and I was tied for first in points in Winchester nh and fell broke my wrist had to get surgery. Now 8 weeks after my crash I’m back racing got 2 10s 11 and 12th first race back. Hai den has motivated me to stay focus on being healthy and racing

I just got a new 22 yzf 250 last year and I was tied for first in points in Winchester nh and fell broke my wrist had to get surgery. Now 8 weeks after my crash I’m back racing got 2 10s 11 and 12th first race back. Hai den has motivated me to stay focus on being healthy and racing
