I'll say, American Nightmare seems like Remedy's experiments in enemy variety hastily turned into a game, and I kind of vibe with that, especially having the premise also looking into "hey, what if I tried *this*" and ultimately failing. It actually sort of points out that the team is aware of its weakpoints and at least tries to do something.

5:30 I think this type of architecture is often called "modernist" as well. I'm not very sure what the difference between brutalism and simply modernism is, but I actually like it in real life too. Old buildings with that style have an oddly "livable" feeling to them, with plants and benches and bridges and parks and little conveniences. It's also a very cyberpunk/90s anime aesthetic.

    • @batti591

It became a meme to hate on brutalist architecture, but honestly I love it. I spent a ton of my childhood in and out of old government buildings featuring this style. Typically when I ask those who dislike it to articulate why they can’t put it into words or just claim it’s ugly, which is subjective.

This game made me really appreciate Brutalist architecture. It can really be so beautiful when done well. The geometric shapes and symmetry, the clean look and feel to it. I did like control except for one gripe. It , at times seems like it plays like a souls game in that if you die you start from the 'bonfire' but it plays like a typical 3rd person action game....so why make you back track over and over again especially on the more difficult bosses? Why not JUST have a auto save system? IDK the only other complaint is I felt the ending was a bit anti climatic

Emily Pope looks like her ears should be pointier. Honestly, with the subject matter of this game, I wouldn't be surprised if she's a cross with something from another plane, elf maybe.
