Sounds like your truck needs a timing chain! Lol
I always thought of crab legs when someone would say City Island. I had no idea that the island is residential.
Used to love to go to city island back in the 80’s and 90’s , it was like your in a whole new different neighborhood from the bronx !! Great seafood restaurants
I grew up in the Bronx in the 1940's and 50's, it was wonderful i often rode my bike to City Island. I now live in Indiana and love to show these things to people, it blows their minds. "Thrat's in the Bronx?" You mentioned defense in WWII, a lot of PT boats were made there, I think at Consolodated yatchs
City Island is definitely a beautiful place; like a little hidden gem in The Bronx. And the seafood is excellent.
I’ll have to go back to grab a bite to eat
The bridge was my first major job with the dock builders union local 1556 I was on. Back in 2015 , that place is like a mini paradise. Btw the seafood restaurant directly to your right after the the bridge going into the island , is great
Wow you helped make this video lol, and I’ll have to check it out
The block that you went down by the painted barrier with the kayaks, the movie Summer Of Sam was one of the locations that they used for the movie.
Great video, City Island is one of my favorite places to visit, anywhere. Please consider another tour, up and down City Island Avenue. I ❤️ City Island & I ❤️ The Bronx
My favorite tours are when we end up on the water 💧 love your videos!
Lovely neighbourhood, love the old houses
Before watching you, I thought The Bronx was like a cesspool of Urban drought. Geez. I think I need to learn.🤒
The Bronx has every kind of neighborhood it’s an interesting place
Great video bud, really well done! Just catching up on some of your tours. It's funny, I grew up in Whitestone, but never made it to City Island; so close! Maybe sometime when you get a chance, you could do a video of Bayside Queens. I went to High School there, and I think it's still a real gem in the borough of Queens. 😀
Cool video Brandon! I always wondered about that place. You cracked me up when you said "muscle sucker" is not too endearing! I wonder if they sell shirts they say that in the local shops :) Did you ever check out Roosevelt Island? That is so interesting. I went with a friend and had Sushi there looking up at the Queensboro Bridge. Really cool. The promenade on the Manhattan side is awesome.
Really like this place a ton. Dam hard to believe it is in the Bronx. Went there many times when I went to college in New Rochelle. Nicest and best the entire city has to offer.
Why is it hard to believe that this is in the Bronx?
@@kyla738 The Bronx has three real nice to very very nice neighborhoods. This is #1, #2 is "Arthur Ave" up near Fordham U. and the Bronx Zoo.It is more Italian traditional than Little Italy in Manhattan.#3 is Riverdale, Manhattan College. Irish, ton of wealth,Manhattan College neighborhood.
@@davidwadsworth8982 That's not true at all
@@kyla738 Whats not true? No hookers in Hunts Point, no drugs either? Cross Bronx is NOT noted for being the WORSE Highway in America?Nobody steals cars there no chop shops on Jerome? the Concourse is safe to walk at night without an M-16?
@@davidwadsworth8982 Unless you live in the Bronx you have no right to speak about the Bronx. Of course, there are areas with crime because, in any area where there is poverty, there is also crime. Yet that doesn't neglect the many other beautiful neighborhoods in the Bronx that are thriving and full of life
You do a great job whipping your big rig through many narrow streets 👍
I try my best
Summer Of Sam was filmed on one of the locations on City Island, the block that the barrier was painted with the kayaks behind it.
Maaaan city island is the place in the bronx even in the winter not saying things can happen around they're but like it's like taking a vacation for a day my favorite restaurant is seafood city
MOONEY is just the tour you need to take you to rougher hoods of NYC .
😂😂😂 this isn’t even a rough neighborhood
This may be my favorite neighborhood you've toured so far! You said it spot on. It's homey. I would live there in a NY minute. Man, you could just drive downtown on a weekend, park the car, and do a total walkabout, eat some great food, and just chill. Awesome video, Mooney! Thanks again for all you do to bring NY to life for all of us who wouldn't see this side of it otherwise! (Btw, after watching your later videos, I'm now always wondering what crazy $h*t may have happened here, lol) :)
The Bronx has significant shoreline both on Long Island Sound and the East River. Kind of a closely held secret. I've lived near City Island all my life but definitely learned some new things from your video. Nice Job!
Great Job !!
Man your videos are pretty good
Only heard of Governor's and Roosevelt Island. Nice to know about another island. NYC has so many haha!
from Queens, had no clue this place existed until about 2015 when i visited a friend who lived in the Bronx and he suggested we go there, very calm area
Yes so different from the rest of the Bronx
Thank you so much for this. The video really got my curiosity up about Hart Island, a fascinating but rather sad place. It's the "Potter's Field" for all of NYC. Over 1,000,000 bodies are laid there. I stumbled across this incredible story: Lost in the Pandemic: Inside New York City’s Mass Graveyard on Hart Island - from, Time Magazine. If you search it out, find it and read it, don't say I didn't warn you. It's quite heart wrenching.
I’ll have to check it out
Nice videeo mooney . Theres a great book entitled This fine piece of water by tom anderson i think you ‘d love. Keep up the great work
🌽 Have a great Thanksgiving. 🦃 🕊
You too
I used to live in an apartment owned by the people who ran the honey farm and they lived right above us. I never really helped them but they'd give us free honey sometimes and it taste pretty good. The farm is just a little area with a few thingies to hold the bees and they do it right in the small back yard
You should do a video of the graffiti crew called MPC. They were from the Morris park section of the Bronx They were one of the crews to put nyc graffiti on the map would love to see you do a video on them , great work btw!!
Is that dead end sign at 50 seconds in the video the one on Son Of Sam movie?
No, that’s on randle ave in throgs neck, randle and Clarence ave is the dead end your thinking of.
Southern Tip IS the Best Part.
Watch out for does 25mph speed cameras on the island.
How much are houses and rents these days?a
I'm born (1988) here and raised there. You wouldn't understand there neighborhood even if I explained it to you.
Maaaaan sometimes I dream about having a house around they're like maybe if I won the lottery or something
"Does it get much better than this, when the sun reflects off the water?" No, it doesn't. Thank you.
Potters field is the cemetary..
Bet they loved hearing that muffler.
I played ball for the church you are parked next to at the dead end looking at hart Island.
that guy or that man is going to hit somebody with the car or run a red light or crash into another car or hit a bicyclist or crash into a police car if he doesn't pay attention to where is he doing.
Poor job Sir.
