- This is the recipe for my beloved Israeli pickles! They are really fermented pickles, or sometimes also called old fashion sour pickles. For me, they are just the good old pickles I consumed in massive amounts when I was a child growing up in Israel.
I hope that you'll like this recipe! Here is the step by step photo tutorial and the printables recipe: ladyleeshome.c...

I love fermented pickles! They are hard to find. Thank you for your video. Now I can start making my own.
Just make sure to find really fresh pickling cucumbers! Small and firm.
תודה רבה על השיעור! ערב טוב.
בכיף ❤️❤️
שלום , אפשר מים רגילים מהברז?@@ladyleeshome

I replied from my phone but I don't see it posted so I'l reply again. I'm on my computer so I can't type in Hebrew. If you need Hebrew just let me know. You can't use water that have chlorine in it. If your water comes from the city, it is probably treated with chlorine. It messes with the bacterial process. You better get chlorine-free store-bought water.
Bless You! I have never made pickles! This tutorial is so wonderful Lee!
Yay! Happy you liked it. It’s supper simple.
great. I did it exactly like you did without any fancy gadgets and was absolutely delicious. then I didn't do it for couple of years since this previous batch lasted 3 years and this forth year they decomposed completely and had to throw them away. so I forgot. watching your video was a blast, instant reminder. thank you.
I’m glad you like it! And, yes… they won’t last that long.
I make fermented cucumbers on a regular basis, especially when my garden is producing so well. I'm going to try your recipe; I've never fermented them whole. I also ferment sauerkraut, beets and carrots. I'm going to ferment other root crops also like radishes. I also love pickles, I like most that I've tried, and I can bread and butter pickles as well as other types. I use mostly my half gallon canning jars that way I can use my glass weight and my pickle pipe . or my spring weight. This time I'm going to make mine using your recipe in a gallon jar, I have plenty of these jars.
Thank you for sharing, I've liked and subscribed to your channel..
Thanks for watching!! I love fermenting veggies. It’s an easy and quick way to preserve them.
I use cheese cloth over the jar mouth and secure with rubber bands. Once fermentation is complete remove cloth and add lid. But try a couple first!
Thanks for sharing!
Why cloth? I thought keep airtight and only burp it daily?
@@nixodian it does not need to be air tight during the fermentation process. Some people use cheesecloth or a coffee filter as a cover because it keep things out while letting the gasses out.
I will make these in the future. They look yummy. They look easy to make.
Really easy!
Fantastic stuff ! Thanks for sharing !
You are welcome!!
Great job! My daughter and I are looking forward to working on this soon.
I hope you'll like it!
By the way, knowing that you do not like vinegar, is there going to be a big difference if I was to add at least one cup of vinegar? Also, will I get the salty flavor with 1 teaspoon of pickling salt per 1 cup of water rather than 1 tablespoon of salt?
I totally forget about Fermenting cucumbers
Thank you I literally paused and made todays harvest real quick
It’s so easy!!
I can't wait to try this. I'm a newbie to pickling! Thank you 😃
You are welcome! Just make sure that you find small and firm pickling cucumbers to use. The quality of the cucumbers make all the difference!
@@ladyleeshome thank you I will do!
Ate these when the cucumbers where in season. We called them salt pickles. Just cucumbers and salt water. I have a batch on the counter right now.
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.I love how you explain it.. amazing!!
These are a favorite here. I hope you'd like them!
Thank you for sharing this no vinegar nor sugar nor sterilizing recipe
I will definitely make, eagerly awaiting result, thanx very much🌷
Let me know how you liked them! They are our favorite!
This recipe is Amazing! Thanku ❤️
You are welcome!!
I like your video it was simple and to the point I wish I could try one of your pickled
If I'm making pickles in a gallon jar I weigh them down with a zip loc bag of salt water in case it leaks if I use my stainless steel bowl I use a dinner plate with a weight on it
These are good ideas! Thanks!
Amazing fermentation. Thanks Lady Lee!
So happy it was helpful! You are welcome.
That’s amazing
My favorite pickles!!
Brilliant thanks for this recipe :)
On my second batch 👍👍
Yay!! I can’t wait for pickling cucumbers to be ready for harvest. What cucumbers are you using this time of the year??
@@ladyleeshome The little ones I got a Giant grocery store Here in Pennsylvania there from Canada I tried to send you a picture but I could not 😩.
thanky much for your recipe where do i get the glass fermentation thingy..?
You can find them on Amazon. That's where I got mine.
Yes I just got mine there this week. Just $21 or $22
Enjoyed your video on the pickles. Could I add more dill to my pickle ferment after it has been fermenting for a few days? I tasted them and they are good but weak in flavor
Definitely! Shouldn’t be any problem with that.
Hi Lady, I have a question. Can you still ferment cucumbers if you skin them and de-seed them? Or will the beneficial bacteria not grow?
You can, they are just going to get soft really fast. So I'd say, let the fermentation process be done, store in the fridge immediately, and eat within a couple of weeks.
❤❤❤nice work
Thank you!
Do you refrigerate these after making?
Yes. Once they are done fermenting they should be stored in the fridge.
Do you ever try Grapeleaf pickles ? 🥰
We make stuffed grape leaves. And for that dish we get them preserved in a jar so I guess that they are probably pickled but I’m not sure.
@@ladyleeshome I love stuffed grape leaves !! Grapeleaf pickles are fermented green grapes and leaves So delicious but can only get at end of summer
@@ritahall2378 never heard of this dish! Sounds amazing!
A good dill is hard to find most recipes taste like bread and butter. I find its the addition of sugar in the brine that ruins the flavor... but lacto fermenting is so easy 2-3% salt by wight of water and vegetable.
I don’t personally like the sweet pickles. Fermented cucumbers is where it’s at for me!

👍👍👍
How to make pickled Garlic Unset
I made pickles this way and they were too salty. I used sea salt from Real Salt. Next time I will use pickling salt.
You can try different kinds of salt or a little less salt but this pickles will be salty.
Thank You...
This is very Interesting and Informative..
Did you say, Milk Your Goat..?!
You are welcome! And yes, milk your goat 😂
Surprised you can't find fermented pickles; they are found in the refrigerated section of almost every grocery store. Almost every country has a version of fermented pickles because fermentation is the oldest means of preservation.
Store ferments are pressure canned aren’t they? Which would kill a lot if the benefit also
Not in our small town. We have kimchi but that’s about it.
lol. you are so cute
Why, thank you 😊
feet as many as u can or fit as many as u can lol 😆
Basically fit as many as you can 🤣

Are these Israeli pickles or Jewish pickles? The reason I ask is that it seems you're claiming this process originated in Israel, which became a nation in 1948. But Jews have been making these pickles for a thousand years. Why did you choose "Israeli" pickles instead of the more accurate "Jewish" pickles?
Urrrmmm... I learned how to make them in Israel. I am from Israel, we eat those in Israel. I was born in 82. Not sure what kind of pickles Jewish people ate 4000 years ago. I know what I ate growing up... in Israel.
Also, Israeli pickles sounds better and Google likes it more. Also, I really don't see a need to further complicate just about anything. If it makes you happier, go ahead and call them Jewish pickles, I don't think anyone will mind. Thanks for watching!
@@ladyleeshome Yeah, I grew up in Canada and learned how to make fermented pickles from my grandmother. I don't call them Canadian pickles. My wife makes them too and she's from the US. She doesn't call them American pickles. In fact, other than you, I've never heard anyone refer to their fermented pickles based on their nationality. I just find it odd. But if you want to call them Israeli pickles you go right ahead.
I don’t know…same thing how the Palestinian flag and nationality was created in 1964, yet there is supposedly “Palestinian” food :)
I like this receipe. But i want to remind you that palestine is not your land. You came from many countries and settled in Palestine and took their land and houses.
Whatever you believe is your belief. I'm guessing that whatever I say you probably aren't going to change your mind about the situation.
So I'll just say this... Israel isn't going anywhere. Therefore, it will be better for everyone to get used to it and move forward.
Now... Do you want to move forward in war or in peace? That's the only question.
If THEY choose war, we go to war, and we win, every time, and we always will.
If they choose peace, we live in peace, just as we do with the Muslims who live INSIDE Israel, as we do with Jordan, Egypt and others.
The question is what do we do from here...
Anyway, thanks for stopping by! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and I hope you'd give this recipe a try!
Shame on you The Hebrews are Gods chosen people. It is their land.
The reply is as tangy as the cucumber 🥒 pickle😊@@ladyleeshome
@@helenedwards9304GTFO with that coloring book history BS! BIBLICAL RIGHTS DO NOT EXIST. only you caveman think like that.
