Evan, designer from Hasbro said that arms would be too fragile if they would add an elbow joint. Plastic is already quite thin near the elbow. As for Vac metal, the process nowadays is way more expensive than it used to be. Mostly because it is quite toxic and poisonous for people doing it so they need proper protective gear and conditions. In the past they were able to make it cheaper by just not caring about health of the cheap asian workers. Overall the fact that cheap asian labour is not so cheap anymore is big contributor to the price increases in toys.

I also don't believe the spiel about environmental concerns or caring for Asian factory workers. @retroandreissue I think the reason for no chromed parts is that they want flat colours to resemble the animation. Look at the new movie reissue of G1 Soundwave... very flat colours.
How is him complaining about the dirt on Blurr "not wrong" exactly? He clearly got a secondhand one, why is he blaming the design? Does he actually think that dirt is an intended feature?
If these are the "worst" looks like SS86 is killing it. Appart that Blurr who looks like it was forgotten in a sand pit over the winter, those are just nitpicks. I've been collecting Transformers since 2010 and since that time, I've seen some really awful things. Like so many QC issues, things that pop off if you look at them wrong, overall not fun design, and even some that DREW BLOOD with their not safe auto-morphs and gimmicks.

@@retroandreissue I had that type of residue on my ultra magnus, but it was fixed with a que tip and some hydroperoxide. It can only be used on white plastic safetly, painted details and coloured plastic may get white discolouring.
@@Gripen1974yeah, I found this out the hard way the other day, but I had used isopropyl alcohol... Luckily it was a figure I bought pretty cheap and wasn't too attached to. Otherwise it would have been a much harder pill to swallow!
all i can say is if your not happy with the parts being dirty etc take it apart clean it yourself even better customise it or just buy the master piece Transformers Line but you cant expect Hasbro to make the perfect Transformers toys with cheap plastic at the end of the day its a win/lose im new to this channel and you now have a new subscriber keep up the good work your doing an awesome job 🙂
I do agree that Coronation Starscream is not worth the Leader-Class price tag. If anything, he's a glorified Voyager Class. Thankfully, that version of Starscream got passed over quite a bit for his less expensive War for Cybertron counterpart, which in turn, caused him to go on clearance. I recall getting him for about the same price as a normal Voyager Class. I'd imagine that people who had to shell out aftermarket prices weren't quite as lucky, though. As much as I like the throne and crown, an extra twenty dollars for some accessories and a package refresh... Really, Hasbro? "This is bad comedy!"

Completely agree. Personally, I think the MP line was ruined by the move toward cartoon accuracy, leading so some astoundingly ugly figures, and the continued focus on that - be it in Legacy or Studio Series - has led to some seriously dull-looking figures. That said, the Coronation Starscream set was a Studio Series '86 release, so toning down the detail would have been more appropriate. It's a mediocre figure either way, but it doesn't look like something out of the animated movie as it is.
1. I agree totally with Ironhide. He's cool, I like how he looks, but the transformation scares me 2. Frenzy and Rumble, I love playing with them! I do agree however the no elbow joints bothered me, I wish they had elbows. 3. I haven't experienced these issues with my Blurr copy and that is absolutely shocking that you have those problems 4. Jesus i thought your Blurr was decades old the state it was in. poor lad looks like he's coming down with cosmic rust ! that really shoulda been a case for a return IMO. I agree with the flappy bits , its why i passed on the fig when he came out. on the starscream one your right but funnily enough you can find him on line for about 30 quid now which is resonable enough. he's deffo not worth leader pricing though. that lad shelf warmed for an age in my local.
If you dislike Scourge having a posed hand, you can swap it with The Sweeps hand by just unscrewing the forearm. Scourge and The Sweeps have alternate dramatic hands, so it is possible to give Scourge or The Sweeps both dramatic hands while the other has 2 fist hands.
That ironhide is really hurt by those legs up top and the weird flap by the window that’s been popular the past several years. I just kept the previous one, but sheild sled and all.
I only agree with Blur on your list. The others have issues, but there are worse in the "modern" line (which I take as starting with 2019's War for Cybertron- Siege line). Blur definitely needs reworking. Face is ugly and those "sleeves" - the original toy had a shield. It may be a tired cheat, but it would have been a good place for it. Tracks great design, bad execution. Same with Skids and his redecos. Trailbreaker/Hoist - Forget the hollowness, the arms are unforgivable. Pointblank - Again, it is the arms. How do you give bad elbows to a targetmaster? Breakdown - Why the heck would you cheap out on the final figure in the Stunticon set? Runners up: Blitzwing - I don't mind the tank dong, and the robot mode is awesome, but that just mode is atrocious Earthrise Megatron - Siege mold was great but needed a few small fixes. This didn't do it. Fugly face and I have no clue what that accessory is supposed to be. Rattrap - Cute toy but he needs a deluxe release. Core was too small. Wreckers Fossilizers - Fossilizers aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I was looking forward to the mammoth and spinosaurus included with the Amazon exclusive Wreckers line, but these were just floppy messes. It's like no one bothered doing QC with the new plastics.
Personally, I'm glad chrome's gone these days. Expensive level chrome is too much for mainline. $60 deluzes would be a bit much. And cheap chrome...well... you can see what happened with transmetal II, flaking inside the box. Just not feasible outside of masterpiece, so I'm fine with it.
My biggest issue with Ironhide is that his back is red instead of black/gray. Since the exposed side is the underside of the van, I don't know why it couldn't have been painted gray. Biggest issues with Starscream and Scourge are their sizes. Generally, they should be larger than the autobots, but their actually smaller in a lot of cases. Now, I wouldn't say they should be scaled for real life accuracy, but show accuracy would have been great. I also wish Rumble/Frenzy's torsos should have been able to snap upwards to give them taller bodies.as is, they have short waists, and long legs.
Far too harsh on Ironhide. I can see from the video your hand positioning is off Upper side panels has rectangular tabs that fits into his forearms to secure it. You need the angle his arms prior for a good fit. Yes more force is required for the last step and that is why you need to hold both side panels before pushing the driver's compartment in. If properly secured and not a defective copy, you don't even need to hold them and they won't even come undone like that. I've transformed him many times and I've come to appreciate the engineering and paneling work for Ironhide. Not the best looking Ironhide but I'd rather this than the tyre butt MP figure.
I've seen hit and miss on blurr. My copy is solid and clean. But I've seen the chest extremely floppy on some copies. Luck of the draw on that one. I didn't get studio series ironhide so can't say much on that but the translucent plastic bothers me a lot
SS86 Ratchet is way better than Ironhide. For me the mold fits him better, and the colors are mor in line in vehicle mode. The stiff arms on Rumble/Frenzy are really annoying, like Blurrs face and arms, yes. But his altmode is really cool. I like the earthrise seeker mold, so 86 Starscream was pretty unnecessary I think. But I don't let anything come on this Scourge!! Are you completely right about his legs and feet? A 100%! But man, he gives us the look of that character a hundred times better than I have ever expected! Grapples peg problems were way worse! Or SS86 Jazz roof breakage Or Siege Jet/Skyfires color changes on some parts Or ER Primes skinny long legs... But all in all, the last few years gave us something we would never dream of. Mini Masterpiece G1 Transformers that capture the cartoon look At least I lost hope that we would ever get toys like this and here we are, finally having the ultimate toys of many many characters! Edit - my Blurr was clean, so not a problem with the figure in general
Completely agree! Rumble and Frenzy should have had elbow joints.. (surprised 3rd party haven't caught wind of making proper arms with joints). The Starscream mold should have had 2 major fixes in Voyager when it came out and that was to hide the cone in bot mold and not in the back and a way to hide the rare wings on the foot into the body instead of being metal snapped on. Head scope for Blurr also looks a bit weird. In another similar mold, the flaps under the arms are not fixed into the hand but instead ate separate pieces allowing for wrist articulation.
You’ve been pretty lucky if those are your worst figures. I’ve been collecting for about 20 years and have had some real stinkers. I’d need a top 50 or more before I got to Scourge.

Don’t stay together in either mode Power Core Combiners (all) - gimmick filled core and fragile un-posable limbs 3rd party mention - Sonicron - terrible materials, poor assembly, bad design-I hated that thing and I got it dirt cheap.

The criticisms are valid of course but I still adore those figures. That Blurr is gross! Looks like the bromine(?) or whatever leaches out of the nylon type plastic is making a swift exit. That has to be the worst QC ive ever seen.
someone must have spilled coffee on your Blur before you got it, because mine is not that dirty. It does have the flappy arm pieces though. That's annoying. I would rank the Legacy remold even worse because it doesn't even like like a cool race car and its wheels don't even move.

Have to agree that the moulds for the new G1 minibots are great but they are much too big. I also have yet to pick up the Blitzwing because I think id could be a lot better - the alt modes in particular just don't cut it for me. Thanks for the list!

(Giant hollow moon boots, strange shoulders with bits that hang below the waist, and a torpedo chest) Other Warpath molds just seem to pull it together better) I feel that minibots should just be simple and fun, and he's a miss for me
Yeah, no. SS86 Ironhide is a great figure and destroys Earthrise Ironhide in every way. The transformation is actually enjoyable and he’s one of the few figures I enjoy converting back and forth. The gold line is very easy to add with something as simple as a gold pen. Just one stroke and you’re done.

i missed out on the starscream and now was coronation starscrean cheaper then the original so i bought it for half the price of the orginal.

How does you getting a Blur that was dunked in the sewer before you got him make him the worst figure ever?

i customized Twincast's Rewind so he can hold on stompers(that i made) and he is way better than both Rumble and Frenzy.

Totally disagree with #1 and abit harsh. That is probably the best mainline Scourge we've ever gotten...have you seen the ones before? Power of the Primes, Titanium or Generations?

I enjoyed the discussion and the criticisms. I'm even ok with strongly disagreeing with the #1 pick! I adore that Scourge/Sweep mold. The criticisms are valid of course but I still adore those figures. That Blurr is gross! Looks like the bromine(?) or whatever leaches out of the nylon type plastic is making a swift exit. That has to be the worst QC ive ever seen.

someone must have spilled coffee on your Blur before you got it, because mine is not that dirty. It does have the flappy arm pieces though. That's annoying. I would rank the Legacy remold even worse because it doesn't even like like a cool race car and its wheels don't even move.
Nobody seems to know what that gunk is! It's the only figure like that - none of the ones released around the same time have that issue.

Worst of modern G1's? #1 BLITZWING (nothing makes me feel like I waisted $55USD more!) #2 Megatron (tank is fine, but this is in such a need for a complete overhaul). #4 Beachcomber (I love his rubber wheels, but I always wish he were half the size), #5 The seekers, I have like 12 of these now, but they miss the G1 nostalgia mark for me. Unhonorable mentions: Blurr, Huffer, Warpath
Have to agree that the moulds for the new G1 minibots are great but they are much too big. I also have yet to pick up the Blitzwing because I think id could be a lot better - the alt modes in particular just don't cut it for me. Thanks for the list!

@@telaviefilms280 I love his alt mode (and the size works for me here) To me, he's got a finicky frustrating transformation (Lots a panels and odd angle turns) and the bot mode isn't especially rewarding. (Giant hollow moon boots, strange shoulders with bits that hang below the waist, and a torpedo chest) Other Warpath molds just seem to pull it together better) I feel that minibots should just be simple and fun, and he's a miss for me

Agree re: Blurr. I don't mind the Kup so much - apart from the arms that sometimes fall off. I like the Hot Rod though!
Yeah, no. SS86 Ironhide is a great figure and destroys Earthrise Ironhide in every way. The transformation is actually enjoyable and he’s one of the few figures I enjoy converting back and forth. The gold line is very easy to add with something as simple as a gold pen. Just one stroke and you’re done.
I love my SS86 ratchet, but I agree on the fact that he doesn’t hold great
@@telaviefilms280 Ratchet does not, and despite being the same mold as Ironhide, he’s not as good. He suffers from more QC issues and his white paint mismatches even worse than Ironhide’s does. But the guy who made the video was talking about Ironhide, not Ratchet, who’s better of the two.
Buzzworty bee ironhide is better
