I HAVE UPDATED THE PATTERN TO A PDF THAT IS EASIER TO USE! YOU CAN FIND THE NEW (BUT STILL FREE) VERSION HERE - whitneysews.com/product/fabric-banner-pdf/

Great easy way of putting it together. Thanks so much for your time in showing the public. Yes the baby is gorgeous like his Aunty. I'm going to give this a try, as I built a lemonade stand for my granddaughter, and this will brighten it up. Thank you again
I know I'm late to the party but I have to tell you this is the easiest and fastest bunting pattern I've ever used! FANTASTIC!! Thank you so very much :)
UA-cam likes, knows what I'm looking to do lately. I want to make bunting for my room to hide wood under my shelf but couldn't find the best way to make the triangles . Thanks so much, can't wait to give it a try
What a GREAT way to make bunting!!! So clever. Thanks, Mom!!! I printed the pattern and will add it to my pattern folder. Thanks for sharing, Whitney. Watched your video about cutting off your finger with the rotary cutter. You really did a number on it! Hope you are healing well.
Amazing! I make loads of bunting and it's always such an effort to try and iron it flat on the seams. This looks super easy and much quicker. Thank you for sharing , you've just revolutionised my mind!
So I just found this video, and I love it.. So what I did was, I took the template you made on your website, and shrunk it to 1/4 size.. I am using it to make mini-bunting flags!! So, now I have your regular size, and for the scrap pieces, I have a smaller template for minis :D Worked out GREAT! Thank you!
Kat Fidanza Great idea to make minis from the scraps! I usually save all my scraps then make paper pieced blocks from them to use in other projects. I would love to see pics of your bunting :)
Thanks for the tutorial and pattern!! Not being the greatest sewer I found this easy and uncomplicated and made a fab bunting!! Thanks so much all the way from New Zealand! Jess xx
I made this for the kids to have some Canada Day decor that was not disposable. So, I raided the scrap bins for red and white solids and patterns. This turned out great and your pattern was the best I tried. You can also use the photocopier or (if you have some computer knowledge) the printer, to alter the size of the template to you can have larger or smaller flags as needed. Thank you Whitney, this one was a home run at our house. The only step I did additionally was adding a hem to the piques that are not along the bias tape edge because it gets hung outside, so it will need a washing and this will just help it to NOT bunch up.
Awesome! I'm so glad you made the bunting and loved it! I love making it in different sizes...I made the small ones that are in the background of all my new videos and a teeny tiny set for my daughter's busy book.
You should just be able to alter the slant of the long side with the seam allowance. Put a dot at the length you want then use a ruler to draw a line from the top corner to that dot and that is your new side. Make sure to do a test flag with scrap fabric to make sure it worked. Hope that helps!
Awesome! Glad you like it :) You could add the letters afterward using pellon wonderunder, or lay the fabric out flat and fuse/sew the letters on before sewing the flags together. Hope that makes sense :)
Sweetheart! Great video and best way ive seen to make a flag banner. Well done!!! I don't see the link for the pattern. It links to a page that asks for credit card information. Please advise. Thank you!
hello! Great tutorial and I was able to download the pattern; however I don't have a printer just now, can you give me the measurements, perhaps? Thanks!
Hi I love this method so much it looks alot easier and neater than others I have seen. Only problem is I don't have a printer so can't print off the template. I have traced it from the picture on my phone but obviously it's very small could I have the measurements for the lines please so I can draw a more accurate template please.
+rachey1x I'm sorry but I don't have the measurements right now. If you can get on a computer and make the image full screen you can trace it on there.
Very cute and thanks for sharing! Now thinking about possibly making a banner for our bedroom as looks so cute... Just to ad interest as have no party to make one for. Super cute!
Way cool! I was going to make one out of paper but fabric is way better. I want to make one w/ a name for a baby's room but embellished so it looks girly. Yes your nephew is gorgeous. Hope he had a Happy Birthday. God bless him. TFS. Tere
I just finished some bunting for my sewing room. I took the big heavy doors off my closet because I was always sliding them back and forth to get to my stuff. Now it is just open, everything in bins, and labeled. MUCH better! So I wanted to string bunting across the closet doorway. I embroidered some sewing designs I got off Emblibrary.com because they have designs for bunting. You should check them out; so cute. I finally finished them today and they are sooo cute. But I will use your technique next time. I want to make some Halloween bunting now!
Thank you Whiteny, I can't beleive, I am searching for this these days for my daughter's birthday and this by far the best out there, thank you. I have just a quick question: I want to add felt letters to the bunting, when and how can I add that ? Thank you again xx
thank you so much for sharing I just made one there now and it is so quick to do!! a quick question how do I alter the template if I want it slightly longer or is that not possible? keeping the same width but maybe an inch longer?
I was wondering what kind of bias tape you recommend. I have never used bias tape and I saw in the tutorial you had 2 packs. Did you sew two together? Do they come in different lengths?
Hey, if you havent found yout answer, bias tape is just any material cut along the bias, meaning ( if you pull your material at different angels you will see 1 pull had a much longer and giving streach this is the bias this is normally corner to corner on the diagonal. you can buy it and you can make its yourself :)
I love your hat! Did you crochet it? Or do you have a pattern for it? If so, I crochet and I would like to make one. BTW, great banner. I'm going to make one for my sister-in-laws little sisters baby shower.
Hi Whitney, I'm trying to get your bunting pattern but I can't save it or print it for some reason it goes blank. Any thoughts? It's the best bunting method. thanks
Did you click the text on the free pattern page under the bunting picture? It should open the pattern up where you can save it. Not really sure why it wouldn't be working :/
I would suggest making one of the pieces and playing around with a few letter cutouts and a ruler to decide what size you like best. The size will depend on the letter style and actual letters themselves (ex- W is wider than I) that you want to use.
Go to whitneysews.com and click the free patterns tab, then click the text for the template you need. It will take you to the template and you can save it or print it. Hope that helps :)

Awww your wee nephew is so cute and your banner is beautiful. Lee x
Whitney, what if I want to add batting to the middle to make it "puffier"? Any ideas? I love the pattern you and your mom made.
I think it would look cute. Just make sure to not over stuff them since it is a 2 dimensional pattern and not one designed to be 3D.
Was searching for this sewing project. Such a great way to make them. ❤️ Thanks for posting.

Thank You... I Love It!!! It and your Nephew are both adorable!!!
I started this project. I would like to add a letter to each panel. What would be an idea size?
I would suggest making one of the pieces and playing around with a few letter cutouts and a ruler to decide what size you like best. The size will depend on the letter style and actual letters themselves (ex- W is wider than I) that you want to use.
