I love those more serious songs of alestorm dont get me wrong i enjoy the party and drinking ones too but those more serious ones with historical themes are the best in my opinion! Cant wait for the album

as a South American historian, living just north off the Magellan Strait, I can attest to the existence of giant laser eyes patagonian rubber ducks, hence the reason crossing the strait became stuff of legends

"On 26 April 1521, a woman that accompanied Magellan's expedition party went missing after running into a cave. Reports arised that she faced the Giant Rubber Duck God in battle, and was transformed into a hen-duck as punishment.
When informed, Magellan insulted the Giant Rubber Duck God in front of Lapu Lapu, Datu of Mactan.
Lapu Lapu, enraged by such temerity from Magellan, attacked the expedition party the following day, in what today is remembered as the Battle of Mactan.
His warriors didn't stop until Magellan was killed and his body recollected. Then, after the blasphemy was avenged, Lapi Lapu let the remaining forces (and hen-duck) leave Mactan for good."

My mother lived on Fire Island/Tierra del Fuego, so you mentioning the island gave me a surge a euphoria.
Imagine being Magellan and just sailing in a direction in hopes of finding new lands... then traveling the whole world... without knowing it basically.
That's not what happened, he set out to find a straight between the Atlantic and the Pacific and always aimed to come home from the East.
And then encountering a big duck. It must've scary.

Edit: Do bear in mind that at the time they had no guarantee the two oceans were connected, it was entirely possible to them that the Americas stretched from Antarctica to Arctica as a continuous landmass, making travel by ship impossible.

There aint single Alestorm album that i dont like and listened to their songs since Captain Morgan, seeing them live 2019 and that thing is called keeping the salty wounds open and mind in ecstasy 24/7.

I love Alestorm's commitment to their whole persona. For 13 fucking years they've been putting out quality material that has a really fun swashbuckling adventure feel. I feel like if I want my grimy, smoke-filled tavern pirate music, I've got Running Wild and Blazon Stone and when I want to feel like I'm in a Pirates of the Carribean movie or blasting my ass drunk off some rum with my boys at the beach I have Alestorm. Their music gives me that "fuck yeah" excitement feeling that makes me laugh when I need cheering up. I'm all for my super serious blistering death metal, but I love to let loose with the high seas scallwags on occasion. It keeps the reaper away.
