Read an article somewhere that talked about a contact problem. The article said that a doctor solved the problem by making contact with a golden piece. When I was a little boy, I wanted one of these, real bad. As we were somewhat poor, I didn't get one.

I've had one of these for a while now, it was my grandfathers. Had to replace the cord with something more modern but other than that it works perfectly. This thing could handle more locomotives than tracks, i.e. it puts out more power than you can realistically use. If you have a mid-sized layout, one of these might be all you need.

Red breaker lamp does not flash. Shuts off when breaker cools and resets.

So, if you have 4 loops of track, does this 275 watt transformer provide 275 watts to each loop, or approximately 70 watts (275 divided by 4) to each loop?

It's 275 watts total output. The number of watts going to each loop depends on the load of the train running on the loop.

I now own a ZW 275 Watts, no manual. Works Beautifully, but where's the switch that turns it ON/OFF?

If you do get one don’t get one on eBay cuz you need to inspect these before buying. Wait for a train show in your area, & most of the time there will be at least 1-2 ZWs or KWs. I paid $50 for my KW w a new cord. Haven’t had it apart to see if it was done right, but its been like 5yrs now & it seems to be working fine.
The postwar stuff is frigin great! Great time period for Lionel… they’re tough as nails, easy to sell, easy to find, & fix for the most part when they break if they ever do.

Very useful video. Thanks. But . . . never use the camera mic for this kind of video. Spend a few bucks and get an extension microphone.

Agreed, or buy a cheap Lav mic and record on your phone, then sync the audio in post.
