I am a truck driver that transports motorcycles for a living. I handle/ride every new bike that comes out. IMO, any bike that weighs over 500lbs and meant to go even occasionally off road, is a pig. You WILL have to pick it up eventually.

I have had and currently have many bukes all makes and models. My favorite bike is my ktm 790 Adventure R. It does most things well and is so enjoyable to ride. However, if the gravel road narrows and turn to single track, I prefer the ktm 690 Enduro r which I still own.

Joe - I do not have a hard time sticking around. I ALWAYS watch every minute. "ALWAYS".... As far as No. 4 - the Harley "Pan American" - I saw one riding by me the other day - Sorry Joe - but it was "Uglier than a bucket of buttholes".... Might be ok on the road, but...... as a proud member of "THE MIGHTY SUZUKI DR 650" - "CULT" - and a True Dual Sport Rider - would never consider that one.... The "Africa Twin", however, is another story.... Heard great things about the Honda. Haven't heard much about the Yamaha....."yet".....
    Thanks Joe - Another "Good'n".....

for the money, the T7 is great, but when you add suspension upgrades it becomes less attractive. I have had KLRs and a GS, I now have a 690 and I love it. my only complaint is I wish they would upgrade the dash with better gages etc. seems ridiculous not to even have a tachometer but the bike is smooth, strong and really light.

If I had buy a new bike tomorrow, it would be a T7. I'm seeing people take that bike everywhere on road and off.
The Pan America is also amazing. I know a buddy who took one for a rip and he was blown away. Very comfortable, and man, it has power and snap.
    Great points brother.
    Good line up for 2021.

As usual Joe, you definitely nailed the adventure class perfectly. If I had to pick an adventure that has 2 cylinders my first & second choices would be the same & that would be difficult. Like you I own a KTM. Mine is the 2005 KTM EXC 525. I would have to try both the Yamaha & the KTM to make that decision. Spend less money for the Yamaha or go with what I consider one of the best motorcycle brands in the world KTM. I would have a very hard choice to make!!!! Again thanks for another great video!!!!!

At my local dealer they were selling the t7 for $200 difference from the ktm890 adventure

T7, 890 Adventure & the new Aprilia 660 Adventure bike were my top 3 choices. I would've actually gone for the Aprilia, but they don't sell in CT, USA. the T7 is impossible to find. So I'm a proud new owner of an 890 Adventure.

Hey Joe , Thanks for the video you have inspired me to buy a 690 Enduro r so I just got a 2019 690 Enduro r with only 189 Miles on it, it was one those garage queens, I have a question, I really like the quiet sound of the stock exhaust, I do know that it gets kind a hot, do you think that eventually it will melt my side cover and my blinker ?
    Cheers from Austin TX *

You got it wrong. Tenere is a very good bike, but it expensive for what it is. Yes is cheaper than 890, but when you look at the price difference between T7 and Mt 07 and than 890 ADV vs Duke you will understand what I'm saying. And if you just upgrade suspension at ktm lvl the price difference is gone in 60 seconds, leaving you with all the electronic ktm have almost for free.
Also, being basic can be a good thing for some, but not putting and switch for off road abs (about 50 cents) is lack of vision for Yamaha, Honda did it for crf 300 so shame on you Yama.

I’ve only got 1200 miles on my Pan America but I really dig it.
Is it as comfy as my Ultra Classic crushing the long distance miles or as off-road capable as My KLX 300S, no. But it’ll do all those things the other big ADV bikes are capable of doing.

As long as you don't start hanging out at Starbucks ;) I took one of the first demo rides here in Texas a few months back. Really liked it. But not as a ADV bike Im looking at it from the naked bike they had been talking about.. I rode it as such also:)

@@EastTexasADV hahaha, I'm seriously planning something with that in mind. It won't be a Starbucks though. ;)
I think the Pan Am is a great Sport-Turing machine. I have a Kawasaki ZZR 1200 with 62,+++ miles on it and the Pan Am certainly outperforms the Zed's older tech.
I have a video during break-in on a twisty road. I haven't ridden the ZZR since I bought an Ultra Classic in 2018, it shows in my riding but the PA instills confidence on a snaky lane and a half back road.

@@pinkiewerewolf I hear ya. I actually it to test out the traction control on the demo ride. Rollin on it comming out of a curve a bit to hard... Lol

@@EastTexasADV Hahahaha, that’s awesome! Another thing I like about the Pan Am is the ride mods aren’t just a gimmick, they radically change the bike’s characteristics.

So who is first manufacturer to make a small light weight no thrills adventure bike, like a 2 cylinder, 350lb wet, 500cc, 9" of travel, 34" seat height, 18/21" wheels, very small light windscreen, for $6900, I know Honda has the hardware already to build one, let's face it all you need is 75mph tops on highway and small light weight is king for off road and who can handle more then 45hp on the dirt, just my opinon
