- Without doubt this is my most anticipated game of all time. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was the catalyst that created this entire channel over 8 years ago!! To be here now with the MEATY section of the FF7 story that is Rebirth. I've done theory after theory, trailer reaction vids for days, speculated on news and held my breath for this game long enough. Its time to dive in and see if Rebirth truly lives up to its early metacritic reviews. This could be the ending stream of all streams for the channel. Potentially. I can't wait to get in and have you guys along for the ride! I'm going to be SLOOOW burn playing this playthrough and enjoying Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth while I'm mid travels. Starting here in Bali and probably get to the ending in Australia. Twins getting married so there may be some chop in the playthrough consistency. May be a tech issue or two lmao. I'm also taking it rather slow, I do get a bit lethargic at times because sometimes if eel like I'm not making a lot of progress. But I am and it feels good to go in every time or another and then see something new and enjoy it. Keeps the life of the game going so much longer now that I think about it.

To add, the love and excitement you've shown towards many of the games I've orignally not been the biggest on have got me off my arse to revisit them and find a newfound enjoyment of many of the games, this I am quite thankful for.

Final fantasy 7 in 3 parts is not a video game, actually it's a disgrace to call it a video games, it's just a game movie movie of a remake, your saves are resets at every part, everything you've done, or failed in the game does not matter, from part 1 to part 3, everything you have done, or failed to have done, does not matter like in the OG game, it's already bad enough to sell it as 3 separate parts, it's another whole worse thing to cut it in 3 parts in wich you don't retain your first playthrough errors like back in the day, if you made mistakes, or missed materias in midgard, it was done for this playthrough, you couldn't get one or two mega materias, you couldn't sometimes get some end game equipment because you missed to do something particular in sector 7, same thing for rebirth, it does not matter if you do everything, or NONE of the side activities, you will not end up stronger or weaker in the part 3 because it all resets at every beginning of every single part.
This statement therefore, is 200% true ; it is not a video game, it's not a video game like the og was a video game, more then a movie, and this is it's main problem. This isn't a video game because you are STRIPPED away of your decisions, your mistakes, none of them matters, you can't even have a different playthrough or just forget things along the way, everything is forced onto you unlike the OG where you could miss a lot of the plot if you didn't visit this or that place.

Ok. TLDR. Skimmed though. Become a game dev, make a “true vid game,” then @ us so we can enjoy your definition of a true game. Otherwise, it’s just gatekeeping. 🪦🌻
Except it is a video game and your over assessing a very simple component of the remake. First... it HAD to be 3 parts. That really is just a fact. If you still can't see why after seeing the scope of Rebirth, then nothing can make you see it because your just being willfully blind.
Second. Many games have hard resets through it. Either a time skip, or a story rest. What about games that have seasonal resets or MMO's that have new expansions? Essentially making all your older gear or progress completely meaningless, are they not games? Of course they are. Your notion that gear carrying = a video game is SUCH a miniscule notion of what a game is. And even then its not true. You did get equipment/summons for playing Remake to carry into Rebirth lol.
Thirdly. If it was a movie and not a game. Then how come I'm using a controller, fighting challenging bosses, configuring builds, assigning skill points and executing combos? What 'movies' have you done that with? Please name it... I'll wait.
Fourth. Even IF your nonsensical POV was true and it wasn't a video game "in it's pure form". Whatever the hell that means. What's the problem with that? Even if it was some new form of content thats not a game(even though it isn't), just making that point does not explain why its bad? Because yes, FF7R has done something totally brand new, never seen before in the world. There has never been anything like this before. A new innovation that has achieved a TONNE of incredible things. Your just nit picking the only downside to that innovation which yes... is a break in continuity. Theres no doubt that exists. But the way your wording it and hyper fixating on it like you've just discovered an object fact is strange. You can call out that break in continuity and you would be right. But you go and make your point completely wrong by trying to state that the issue makes it not a video game....
