To anyone who thinks his screams are weak should know a fact: he's trying to balance the clean and screaming vocals perfectly together without sacrificing the integrity of his actual singing ability.
Anybody who'd think his vocals are weak are fucking insane. As someone who's practiced metal vocals for 14 years I can do something along the lines of Meshuggah better than I can achieve Dan's much more tonal and emotional register of screams.
I thought this song was meh when I first heard it, especially after hearing Concealing Fate. Now I can't stop listening to it! Can't get it out of my head. So awesome.
I've noticed that theme with Tesseract. I loved almost everything right off the bat but there was a few songs that had to grow on me but they all did lol
I'm currently obsessed with Periphery... I was recommended by a friend to listen to TesseracT because of my love for Periphery... I then started looking around at Periphery stuff, and frequently came across TesseracT too. so I thought it must mean only one thing... TesseracT are also awesome.
dzamija922 Explain this ridiculous infantile rudeness. TesseracT, like most similar-genre bands, are constantly dabbling in polyrhythms/polymetrics, so nothing says that the OP and the one that you are gratuitously insulting are not both actually correct.
I'm not saying he isn't correct. I just hate pretentious pricks like him that come to videos like this just to say "LOL NOOBS THIS IS 4/4 L2MUSIC". Yeah, it is. It's 4/4. It's also 8/8. It's also 12/8 + 4/8, as well as 13/8 + 19/8. It can be counted in endless fucking ways, depending on the person. Grow the fuck up and let people count it any fucking way they want.
This is a new way to develop metal, on a math rythmic way. This is the very first band using rythms like Meshuggah or Mudvayne but screaming and singing also. This produces a very interesting movement between complex melodies and great riffs... This is very promising !!
Yeah these guys are really good. wsn't a fan of them at first but then I really listened to what they were doing. I'm quite impressed. And the clean vocals are refreshing.
It's about time these guys made it bigger... now we need Periphery & Animals as Leaders to get into the 'mainstream' in poularity..... because djent is djizz-worthy. :)
Tesseract are definitely one of my more favored djent bands.they certainly stand out from the vast majority of them. I like how its sort of like meshuggah mixed with opeth and tool.
In October in Manchester Animals as Leaders are playing with Tesseract and 3 days later Between the Buried and Me, Periphery and the safety Fire are playing as well. I'm ridiculously pumped.
I heard their sampler a while back and thought they were a little too flowery for my tastes. Then I saw them live and they blew me out of my fucking skin. This is a heavy fucking band man. It's elaborate and it's melodic, sure enough, but these riffs are heaaaaa-veeeeyyy. I saw em twice in the past year, best two performances I've seen in the past year as well.
The thing that separates TesseracT from all the other djent bands out there for me is the bass. TesseracT makes good use of the bass to emphasize groove and rhythms as well as backing-up/beefing-up the guitar riffs.
I love Tesseract. I remember when I seen them for the first time with Maylene and Protest The Hero. Their vocalist had his fly unzipped the entire performance. I told him after. He was said "I did that on purpose for maximum sex appeal."
Was that Abisola or Daniel? I’ve been hearing about the former lately. Seems to have had a great voice, well suited to early TessarecT. Wonder what happened to him.
I urge every fan of Tesseract to listen to this album from start to finish while STONED! You will discover so much more that you missed previously. lol
One of the greatest glasses of wine I have ever had was with James, I could see myself working on another project with James, and for his birthday, my wife and I would buy him a new Purple Ibanez 7-string. A perfect gift for a tall brother.
Yeah, I like the music, one song at a time. I can't listen to lots of their music at once without getting quite bored, you constantly have to focus on it to enjoy it which can get tiring
I like the comment, but Meshuggah have definitely had a record of consistently changing, progressing and improving from album to album. That said, this song is great, and the video is also very cool.
@iFinni Actually I love them better. The screaming is just pure goosebump. I've always considered two schools for screaming. Screaming that sounds demonic, and screaming that sounds demented. This is demented. The kind of scream you hear coming from the empty hallways of a lunatic asylum, and not the kind of screams you get from creatures that escaped hell and are back on earth. I don't know if you get what I mean, but there is a lot of actual voice left in the screams
Why do we all have to argue over music? Is it really worth it? People have different tastes in music. They either like it or they don't. And I will say TesseracT and bands like them are awesome and admire their talent. Theres no need to start an argument over something people like differently. If you don't like the music than dont listen to it. Dont post comments that start comment wars. Its not worth it. Enjoy the music or dont.
@woedrummer i wish brother bur this is just teserract a great prog/djent band good to know some ppl do know what good djent prog is. keep it alive my friend
I like Meshuggah's style of groove more. It's just raw power coming at you at all times and the slower tempo gives it a heaviness that's just amazing. Tesseract is cool though. They really got those spacey melodies down.
tesseract just kills it everytime ... meshuggah is bad ass and thank god they created such a bad ass style but damn it dude just cause one guitarist plays an open A or what not doesnt mean hes trying to be like meshuggah come on fellas its development metal is getting so great
He forgot one of his guitars during a tour and had to attempt to play An Infinite Regression on a pink Squire Stratocaster strung with 9's tuned to B standard. His mind couldn't handle the abomination.
Well I've seen Periphery and Tesseract at the same gig, and Animals as Leaders and Meshuggah at the same gig. And this October I'll be seeing Tesseract and Animals as Leaders at the same gig! They're never all together! xD
@KadajMetal I saw them live with this singer and he was flawless. These guys sounded so much better live then the recording, it is a rarity these days.
While I do agree with you about TesseracT being bloody brilliant, I can't agree about all other djent bands being unoriginal. Of course, all of them aren't great but I find alot of them being really interesting. Meshuggah's grooves are just perfect.
Tesseract , Periphery , Animals as Leaders and many such bands make my life worth living for.
To anyone who thinks his screams are weak should know a fact: he's trying to balance the clean and screaming vocals perfectly together without sacrificing the integrity of his actual singing ability.

So dark and cleverly written, and that breakdown is just pure epicness, man I love these guys
I'm currently obsessed with Periphery...
I was recommended by a friend to listen to TesseracT because of my love for Periphery...
I then started looking around at Periphery stuff, and frequently came across TesseracT too.
so I thought it must mean only one thing...
TesseracT are also awesome.
I love Dan's vocals in this song, such a talented musician
People will need to really listen over and over again to appreciate/absorb how good this is!
in case you were curious...
0:48 - 1:13 (5/8)
1:13 - 1:34 (11/8)
1:34 - 1:49 (5/8)
1:49 - 1:55 (9/8 > 9/8 > 7/8)
1:56 - 2:18 (11/8)
2:20 - 2:38 (no time)
2:38 - 3:14 (7/8)
3:14 - 3:31 (4/4)
3:31 - 3:36 (7/8 > 9/8)
3:36 - 4:00 (11/8)
So...you mean 4/4?
dzamija922 mkay.
dzamija922 whoa... that's very hostile...
dzamija922 Explain this ridiculous infantile rudeness. TesseracT, like most similar-genre bands, are constantly dabbling in polyrhythms/polymetrics, so nothing says that the OP and the one that you are gratuitously insulting are not both actually correct.

Damn can't believe I've actually met these geniuoses in person, loved that totally on par with periphery
3:13 When you're spoiled as a child and you get everything you want
"NICE INK!!!
MY COLORING BOOK!!!"
Tesseract and Periphery toured Australia last year, they played really tightly, I would've really enjoyed seeing Animals as Leaders with them
This has to be the best genre of metal to listen to while high :)
coming 12 years in the future but you are very right brother

This is the most thoughtful disagreement/discussion I have ever seen on UA-cam.
Oh hell yeah! Great job guys, one of the best produced videos I've seen in a long time!
Faith in the everyday youtube restored. We live in hope.
One of my favourite tracks from Tesseract - slaps so hard compared to most of their other (and newer) stuff (except their first EP)
NASCENT
: coming or having recently come into existence
So underrated prog metal! Insanely odd time signatures 😇😌⏳
It's about time these guys made it bigger... now we need Periphery & Animals as Leaders to get into the 'mainstream' in poularity..... because djent is djizz-worthy. :)
definatly in my top 5 prog/math band out there. keep it coming.
tesseract, I love you guys , please keep the beautiful music coming brothers!
I've never heard anything of this band so far but me seems these guys make up a really sophisticated progresive rock music.... ❤❤❤
CANT WAIT TO FINALLY GET THIS ALBUM.
Like 3:00 onwards is just fucking fire.
I'V REALLY ENJOYED THESE 4 MINS!
This band just gets better.
Victory !
Now let's make this number one for 2011 !
Tesseract are definitely one of my more favored djent bands.they certainly stand out from the vast majority of them. I like how its sort of like meshuggah mixed with opeth and tool.

How I wish I could turn on my radio and listen to this kind of music instead. :D
Goosebumps... EVERYWHERE

awesome song and video. The head banging cliff scence is rad
These guys are so freakin good! Love this song
One of a kind song. Have loved it for years(:
Properly feeling this! Quality.
Marvellous!!
Modern day TooL with Sting as its vocalist who can also scream like Chester. WOW!!!
I don't see the comparison but either way your point stands that it isn't terrible.
I just discovered this band. I'm well impressed.
The thing that separates TesseracT from all the other djent bands out there for me is the bass. TesseracT makes good use of the bass to emphasize groove and rhythms as well as backing-up/beefing-up the guitar riffs.
sounds awesome on a badass stereo and a loaded bong.....
@CenturyMedia WOOT!! fav'd, thanks!

Wow!!! Definitely just became a fan! These guys are awesome!!!
This has some real atmosphere to it, good vibes and sounds nice and original
I urge every fan of Tesseract to listen to this album from start to finish while STONED! You will discover so much more that you missed previously. lol
love the singers emotion ... gotta check out their album
One of the greatest glasses of wine I have ever had was with James, I could see myself working on another project with James, and for his birthday, my wife and I would buy him a new Purple Ibanez 7-string. A perfect gift for a tall brother.
A Perfect Circle + 1980... I'm in love.
i love their videos because they have something unusual to offer. amazing band!
Clean vocals remind me of Protest the Hero. They are one of my favourite bands, so, I like them. Good song.
Yeah, I like the music, one song at a time. I can't listen to lots of their music at once without getting quite bored, you constantly have to focus on it to enjoy it which can get tiring

I'm actually one of those "old school" metalheads that dislike the new metal/deathcore bands, but I admit, this shit ROCKS LIKE HELL! Djent
Screams at the end are lit
I dunno man. As an American, I can really say TesseracT is up there on my list of best prog bands.
Seriously, I really like this kind of sound. Very very nice. I'd like to purchase the album soon! :)

You know what's pretty damn near perfect? Meshuggah are touring with Animals as Leaders in the UK. I'm going to see them in about a weeks time :3
Well they said it themselves, and knowing TesseracT it'll definitely still be epic.
2:40 that section....
sexy350Zowner awesome breakdown
This is seriously awesome 👏
they are currently the best band in the world
very good, very good indeed! first time i've heard this, like it
great song! great video!

Brutal, djenious, amazing, orgjizzmic, earbreaker, mindblowing, impressive and awesome mix of artwork, concept and music :D
tesseract just kills it everytime ... meshuggah is bad ass and thank god they created such a bad ass style but damn it dude just cause one guitarist plays an open A or what not doesnt mean hes trying to be like meshuggah come on fellas its development metal is getting so great
i whole heartedly agree......iv found that this and lament and groove verse idea(acles soundcloud) are y i listen to music now
Who could possibly dislike this song?
Love this song!
i swear this band has a fetish for polyrhythms
I have a fetish with polyrithm because of this band
polyrhytmophilia ?
@@gluonpa6878 Meshuggah syndrome?
This song has all the right materials to be a metal song. Just because it isn't as heavy as Cannible Corpse, doesn't mean it isn't metal.
I saw Tesseract with Animals and Leaders, with BTBAM on the main stage.. Needless to say, ti was pretty sick.
This song is sic as hell!!
whats happening to tosin in this video?
That seriously made me laugh my ass off, in the early morning hours :D
He forgot one of his guitars during a tour and had to attempt to play An Infinite Regression on a pink Squire Stratocaster strung with 9's tuned to B standard.
His mind couldn't handle the abomination.
hahahahaha
Patrick Sarađen haha, I'm down 😂
Ahh, back in the day when the only Tesseract songs that were around were half-completed "Sax Solos" and about 100 songs called "Part 1".
such a huge production!
Reminds me so much of Sikth's Bland Street bloom song and video. Both such amazing bands
Unbelievable great effects you guys!
Seeing them tomorrow night!!! Holy shit!!!!!!!!
If you don't like it don't hear it,as simple as that. That's their style
Meshuggah meets The Butterfly Effect, love it!
yes! yes yes yes!
no no no no!!!
hahaha
maybeeeeeee :D
so so so so
what what what what!
o Omni Codex y u so funny :^)
I think Dan Tompkins has become one of my favorite vocals after this.
Yes, it's great music.
Love this song.
I love periphery SO MUCH.
Amazing as always :)
Well I've seen Periphery and Tesseract at the same gig, and Animals as Leaders and Meshuggah at the same gig.
And this October I'll be seeing Tesseract and Animals as Leaders at the same gig! They're never all together! xD
Same, might actually be the best night of my life :3 :3 :3
Nice vid, all the best guys!
@KadajMetal I saw them live with this singer and he was flawless. These guys sounded so much better live then the recording, it is a rarity these days.
This song doesn't go anywhere... can't get it
While I do agree with you about TesseracT being bloody brilliant, I can't agree about all other djent bands being unoriginal. Of course, all of them aren't great but I find alot of them being really interesting. Meshuggah's grooves are just perfect.
I love this big time
going to seem AAL and TesseacT in Birmingham in october gonna be sweet :D
