Such a great Jackie movie -- deserves a nice 4K box set with extended version and extras like you mentioned!
Absolutely!! Such a waste of money and time :S
@@invincibleasiaofficialThe Japanese box of this is probably much better! The HK Rescue bootleg is better for sure like you mentioned! It’s really too bad he didn’t start with Rumble In the Bronx and First Strike then at least we would have those!
I know right! Too many great releases that have been missed or yet to come lol
@@invincibleasiaofficial sorry - but does this version include the HK cut of the film? I sorta either missed if you confirmed that or not.
This from a 4K remaster.
Hongkong Rescue release still the the best so far..
Agreed 1000%
It may well be, but I've been waiting three years for my Killer, Hard Boiled and Police Story, so HKR can get stuffed.
Yep, that is the sad truth about the late (presumably), great Hong Kong Rescue; it got to the point where you couldn't assume you'd ever actually receive your order! Sorry to hear you didn't get your order, Jacob's product was outstanding if you eventually got it, but way too many fans didn't.@@patton2773
Me too!! And they can get stuffed lol
Thanks for the info, saves me the trouble of being disappointed for myself. I , too, have the Hong Kong Rescue version and, yeah, it's kind of pathetic that one fan working out of his home could come up with a blu-ray presentation far superior to what a major Hollywood studio releases! Warner Bros seems to have no respect for Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee (I'm guessing you've noticed the complete lack of any new features for their 50th anniversary edition of Enter The Dragon release?), makes me appreciate companies like Arrow, Eureka!. 88 Films, etc., all the more.
They don't have any respect. I've not rushed to get the 50th anniversary release of ETD. They do very little to excite me and need to take note as to what the smaller labels are doing!
So glad you told it like it is George. Shocking release (alongside Rumble in the Bronx). Will be voting with my wallet and avoiding these two.
Thanks, I just had to vent lol They both deserved so much more. Thanks for watching :)
Totally agree, both of theses films needed an 88 films style deluxe release, they're too good to be released as if they were budget discs from the early 2000s!.
Awesome unboxing! It was nice for this to get a UK Blu-ray release for the first time.
Yeah its great to have really, but such a disappointment in how they went about it!
Love Drunken Master 2 😮
It is an awesome film!!
@@invincibleasiaofficial I hope one day we will see a 4k version of it. 🙏🙏
The fight scenes are incredible, I just wish there was an actual movie behind them.
The fight scenes are awesome!! Thanks for watching :)
Drunken master w is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and STUNNINGLY AMAZING
Way much better than the so called Hollywood imitation and knockoffs
It's an amazing movie yes!
It is a 4K restoration btw. Warner put it out in Korea and then globally.
Good to know thanks :)
Hi George. Please check out the german Blu Ray release of Drunken Master II. It's a bit more interesting and well made IMO. It's a Mediabook with cool extras. Musikvideo, Trailers, Interviews ... maybe it's Something you'd like
Awesome thanks!! I will indeed. Had my eye on it, so will be grabbing it soon :)
I remember this movie always having trash quality Dvd's with the dub only, and later on the same with the first blu-ray... Almost gave up hope but luckily this came along 🙏
Yeah I know right. I'm glad it got the Blu treatment, but it still isn't the ultimate release. Thanks for watching :)
The blu Ray of legend of drunken master is on for 102 minutes
It's still cut though.
I ended up picking up the Korean blu-ray of this when it came out. It's great, although the English subtitles are for the hearing impaired, so you also get descriptions of anything in the background, but It's a minor gripe. Much better then the Legend of Drunken Master release. I always flip flop between this and Police Story 1 as my favorite Jackie film.
Yeah its the same here with these subtitles. Still not the ultimate edition we had hoped for :S Thanks for watching!
A great review as always George. Thanks for saving me a few quid as I will stick with my Return of the Drunken Master Blu-ray instead of picking up this version.Jackie deserves a special edition.
Yeah it was such a let down. Someday it will get the love it deserves :) Thanks for watching!
@@invincibleasiaofficial 🤞:-)
Well, this was a pain in the aris. I have the UK Studiocanal blu ray which has the dreadful Miramax cut and dub, with a terrible transfer, but some special features, and this barebones release that has a much, much better picture and original language/original dub, but they knackered the subs and there's no special features so now I'm stuck with both. The annoying thing is that there's only five sub options selectable but seven buried on the disc so there's probably a non HoH English sub we can't use.
Yeah it was such a disappointment. You would think with such a long running film company that they would actually love what they do and respect the great films in their catalogue :S Thanks for watching!
If these were £15 I might be tempted, but even then it'd be a push. Might pick them up if they're ever on sale, but it'd have to be 2 for £25 and even then I'm not convinced.
You might find them in the next HMV sale actually. Definitely not worth the 25 quid :S
It shows WB don't know what they're doing when they include the original international poster for Rumble In The Bronx yet the movie on the disc is the US cut and with DM2 they finally give us Brits the full HK cut and sure enough they give us the original HK poster but why in God's name include that p*ss poor Legend of Drunken Master poster?
Why not include the original international poster (the one used for the WB Archive cover)?
If they won't show these films the love and attention they need and deserve, give them to someone that will (Eureka, 88 Film or even Criterion).
I know right!! Such a major fluff up on all accounts. Titles like this should be given over to 88 Films (and others) to do it properly!
Are you sure this'll doesn't have two English subtitle options? Warner put this out in Korea first then internationally and that's got English and English HOH. I reckon it's the same release. Cantonese, English or Mandarin. 4K remaster.
Pretty sure yeah, I'll go back again but I couldn't find the regular subs at all :S
I was holding off getting this one as I already own the Korean WB,miramax and Hong Kong rescue release and I'm a fan of the uncut classic English dub which was on the Korean WB release only it sounded very poor quality so I'll stick with the Hong Kong rescue which has much better English audio, probably taken from the DVD release I think, sorry you was disappointed with it but great review Anyways.
Yeah it was such a shame. This film deserved so much more love, but its clear that Warner don't care about their foreign films. Thanks for watching :)
After being hugely disappointed with Warner's UK release, so I purchased the Japanese box set.
The first disc is exactly the same but it has a second disc with 3 versions,
2 of those are in 480i & the US version in 1080p. It also has two 6 minute features, & an easter egg along with the postcards & 2 single sided posters.
The reason that I am extremely pissed off is that we didn't get that second disk for the UK release. They could've put that second disc with that release & we wouldn't have been this ranty.
Absolutely!! But that's good to know. I'm in Tokyo next week so will be keeping my eye out for that edition, thanks!! :)
@@invincibleasiaofficial Tokyo? Now I am jealous.
And a few other cities :)
Warner Brothers does indeed Suck Ass my friend. Horrendous Blu-ray release. Shame on them. Great content as always Mate!!!!!
I do have the HK Blu-ray and the HK Rescue as well👍👍‼️
Thank you, appreciate it! Such a shame they have no love for this amazing movie :(
I highly recommend the hard slipcase version from Japan. (if you don't have it already)
I was a bit skeptical with the HMV release.
What a let down for RUMBLE IN THE BRONX as well.
Thanks! I'm off to Tokyo next week so I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for it :)
@@invincibleasiaofficial I would like to point out that japans YOUNG MASTER looks great compared to what’s out there too.
It’s had a wider aspect ratio then what 88 put out and looks great!
Awesome to know thanks! Will keep an eye out :)
Oh crap! I just ordered this from HMV and thought to check out your review! Hopefully I can cancel as I'm disappointed that hard of hearing subtitles are the only ones supplied on the disc. I think I'll just stick to my terrible Miramax english dub disc until i source a better version!
Yeah this really was a major let down unfortunately! I got the Japanese special edition since and preferred it, although the first disc is this exact one. Go check that video out :)
I got one yesterday as i didnt own a copy of the chinese version.
So even with extra features being non existent, i was still happy to own a copy.
But...
My main disapointment was the english subs, which seem to be made exclusively for this version as they match the english dub perfectly.
And arent at all accurate.
When jackie has the fight against the gang that assault his step mother, he calls out the moves of the 8 drunken gods.
In this version on the subs he doesnt, and he says stuff like "go for a spin" instead of "cleaning out the wine jar".
So this alone for me was really disappointing.
But still, i would take this version over the legend of drunken master all day long.
Didnt like the musical score on that version.
Yeah, its certainly not the definitive version of this incredible movie. Such a shame!!
I totally agree with you 🖕Warner Brothers 😂
Absolutely!! :)
It the same version as the US release, Warner are shit they dont care about JC fans, Rumble In Bronx the same.
Very lazy releases.
Absolutely! No care at all :(
I've just bought this 3 times. The final one (the US Warner Archive release) was the only one I was happy with. This UK version & the Hong Kong version I bought only having hard of hearing subtitles is unforgivable 👎👎
I know what you mean. This was such a disappointment. See my latest video on the Japanese version I just picked up, although the first disc is this one :S
cash grab - £25 not worth it. Should be out as normal single release for £15.
Def not worth it at all. Wait for the sales lol
My comment got flagged on Instagram when I wanted to comment on your post i think WB don't like criticism, all I wanted to say was I agree with you this was poorly produced and really underwhelming I dare say the hong kong rescue bluray was better put together than this and it's a shame so potential wasted on this and rumble I hope WB can see the constructive criticism and do better in the future these titles deserve so much more respect
That's interesting. It would be a shame if they stooped that low to flag bad comments about them :S They really do need to take note and start putting a bit more love into these releases. Thanks for watching!
@@invincibleasiaofficial I just assume it was wb it was flagged instantly as I hit send could be Instagram themselves who knows I didn't say anything offensive silly social media 🤪 aye mate hopefully WB get their acts together I'd like to see other titles they have in their library 👍
