Redwood Empire and Still Austin products are very good!! Highly recommend any and all from them, especially the BiB from Redwood and the Cask Strength from Still Austin!
Deb was sampling bottles at Totalwine on our Kentucky trip and the next thing I know our cart is full. A lot was bad but the Wolcott's Rickhouse Reserve was delicious. Barton sourced juice.
We really enjoy visiting Total Wine stores when we travel! You never know what you are going to find! We traveled through KCMO this year and stopped in at Ben Holladay Distillery and J Rieger while there, 2 very cool places! Have you been to either of those?
Yes! We did the Holladay tour a couple months ago. I absolutely love their whiskeys. Rieger is actually fairly close to where I live, but haven't done the tour there since I don't much care for their stuff. Either way, I just love that there is whiskey being made in this part of Missouri!
I probably play Old Pike and Waterworks most these days, although Rosie is also fairly close to work for me. For many years I considered Cliff Drive my home course, and was also one of the primary caretakers there. Between my car being broken into and the shooting that occured during KCFDC, I gave up on the place and don't really have a home course any longer.
So glad you guys are here to tell me this stuff, lol. I probably would have taken a chance on some crappy juice without doing the research if y'all weren't here giving me the lowdown. Cheers, bro!🥃🫡
Great hunt video! I have been trying to get my hands on a RD ONE Amburana or Maple Finish. Just don’t see RD ONE in my area… one day! Nice work here Sir! 🥃
Really like the Bib & Tucker 6 Year Double Char. Saw they have a 10 Year now. Total Wines do have a huge selection and some good store picks. I have not had much luck with hard to find bottles. Still Austin is my favorite TX Whiskey. I have a Cask Strength, a Total Wine Single Barrel store pick and 2 bottles of the 2TEN90 pick. Also picked up the Still Austin High Rye, Cask Strength Rye, Red Corn Bourbon and the Blue Corn BIB. The 2XO Gem of Kentucky is good, but not sure it is worth the $190 I paid. I have barrel #50. 🥃
Bib & Tucker was the first >$50 bottle of bourbon I ever bought, 5 years ago or so. I don't get the hate it sometimes gets, it's a perfectly solid bourbon.🥃👍
Have you guys tried it yet? I totally get the Cinnamon Toast Crunch note from it. My wife, who is usually much more skillful at detecting notes than me, says she doesn't get it at all.
It is so different from other Amburana product. I agree with Dan Shook and get the Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal vibe. I had my friend get me a backup a few months back. Delicious! I'd love to try the Maple finished.@@WhiskeyBasket
I went hunting and found a Blue Note Juke Joint. I haven't seen any in Southern Illinois before. Found it in Kentucky yesterday. I really enjoyed it last night.
@@WhiskeyBasketI’ve got a barrel pick of the Blue Note that is very good. 121 proof if I remember correctly. If you wanna see a crazy selection of highly allocated stuff go to LP mart at 880 W 141st Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64145. It's very close to the Lukas near Martin City. All the Pappy's, a full rainbow of Weller's, etc. In a gas station of all places.

I got one from Hyvee a couple months ago. I liked it at first, but actually had a pour of it last night and caught a youthful, grainy taste from it. I don't think I'll be buying another Architect.
Another great video man. Go check out the Overland Park total wine. They usually have a slightly better selection of stuff than the liberty store. They keep a good selection of everything in there. They even have the high dollar bottle room in there.
@@WhiskeyBasket I usually get out there about once a month so I get the traffic. It’s probably worth the trip for a good video though. I try and go by there whenever the wife and I go to the Korean market out there on Metcalf.
@@dustinstegmaier9896 Years ago, I helped a buddy deliver phone books to all the businesses out there. There certainly is a wide variety of good restaurants in that part of the KC metro. I would love for there to be legit Korean or Indian restaurants out here on the east side!
I just watched Whiskey Vault's video on it. They compared a Wolcott BiB to a 1792 FP for some reason, and of course gave the nod to 1792 FP. I get that they're both out of Barton/1792, but putting a BiB against a full proof doesn't seem like a fair matchup.
That stuff is everywhere that I shop. And it’s a good pour so I keep a bottle or two around. If you are ever in the DFW area, it’s usually on the shelf in most places. If one doesn’t have it, the next 3 will.
Solid video and new subscriber. Pretty much never listen to a TW employee’s recommendation unless you know them. They will almost always recommend the same thing and while some are decent to pretty good most are base stuff that you will never rebuy. I don’t spend a lot time on stuff under 45 but that JTS Brown at $9.99 is not bad and sure beats out most budget bottles. I keep one on bar for people who want to try it or newer drinkers as it is an easy sipper with caramel and brown sugar notes. Hmmm may have to have a small pour today as its been a few months since I had any. Peerless is good and I enjoy Penelope especially the Penelope 9yr and the Barrel Proof Toasted. Still Austin cask strength is only sold at TW in my region so when I make the 5 hour round trip to TW I always buy 3 or 4. Redwood Empire is good. Widow Jane 10 is a great price but prefer the 13yr WOW Woodford DO for $40.99. I would have gotten both. Never going to see that price. Like buying one and getting second one for free. You can always ask for samples of their stuff. Great way to see most what they recommend is worthless. Had their “scotch” guy hype up a scotch saying it was from distillery in his home town and was excellent. He kept pressing (normally I would ask to be left alone) so I asked for a sample. Most vile sickening sweet thing I had had in a long time and was over $100. Told him my notes and thoughts and he said yeah he doesn’t like it either and walked off 😂. Definitely have employees I am friends with at TW or who I know and trust but there are many who are best left to asking them for directions only not recommendations. That Barrel Grey Label Sesgrass in case in fantastic and a good price. Great tasting 16 yr old. Wow that Redbreast 21 is fantastic but screw that price. Would have liked a slow pass on the Irish isle.
The employee who spoke with me was well versed in his company selling points, but I could tell right away he wasn't much of a bourbon guy. I never even noticed the price on the JTS!
