Thank you for bringing awareness to this application. I have been using it for over a year now and love it for instant backups of my important files. One bug I run into is backing up my programming files. Lots of small metadata is created when programming and syncing this with two client machines and the cloud server does not seem to function perfectly. One of the clients always claims something is wrong even though nothing is.

Have been running it on my ubuntu server now for 6 months.
Using it for both personal and my own company with a bunch of users.
Have not came across any problem that i could not fix within 1h.

Use DynamicDNS. It should be a feature in your router, set up an account with one of the providers your router supports, then you have a free DNS name as well as syncing with your IP.

the initial setup sounds like about the worst idea ever, just use a good linux distro like arch or slackware or heck spring for some good ole BSD unix...

There is an app for android+ios as well as pc/mac/linux, this is a true alternative for dropbox.

I run Amahi on my ubuntu 12.04 machine. I can go to Amahi apps and install this in the server.

Rather than "rebooting" the VM, all you had to do was restart the apache server.
Also, what's up with "screenshot", lol? You mean "snapshot", right?

I like Crash Plan, it is free if you create your own backup system. If you use their "cloud" then they charge you.. You can even have others backup to your system or back up all your PC's to one storage device automatically. Crash Plan.

Beware: I just set up an owncloud server a few weeks ago, but I had to ditch it because the file index started to flake out to the point where I could not save data in cetain folders, deleting and re-adding a folder with the same name would not fix it. It even went on a crazy spree deleting tons of files when I had 2 other machines running the sync client at the same time. I would not trust it with my data. I wish I could find somthing with block-level sync like dropbox.
