@@digi-stranger0234 I think the setup here alone kinda allows Mephiles to ever return if they want him to. He's still a thing that "exists" relative to reality as a whole, just isn't allowed to participate in it and desperately seeks to crawl back.
Biolizard, Metal Overlord, Mephiles, and Black Doom. It makes sense that all of these four will be boss battles for Shadow since they're all the main antagonists on games that label Shadow the protagonist.

After that, Silver. And Infinite, the game hasn't reached that point in time, so honestly, I was never expecting him. But seeing that they did added Force and Frontier stage did took me by surprise.
Not only that, these four share a unique relationship with Shadow, each one trying to emulate him or his position as the Ultimate Lifeform. The Biolizard, being the Prototype of the Ultimate Lifeform, serving as Shadow's predecessor for that title. Metal Overlord, having copied Shadow's Ultimate Lifeform Bio Data, and even claiming himself as the "True" Ultimate Lifeform. Mephiles transforming into a corrupted version of Shadow himself. Finally Black Doom, being the DNA donor of Shadow himself, trying to take over Shadow's body and be reborn as one entity.
Anyone else don´t have the feeling that Mephiles is some sort of "Uninvited Visitor" in all this? Like, every single boss are just mindless copies from their original timelines, they are just fighting Shadow like if it were some sort of Instint that they follow without been aware of what is going on, but Mephiles is fully aware that he is trapped in a Time Void.
Well Devil Doom is obviously seems more aware since this whole thing was his plan. And biolizard seems more a victim wrought back to lash out at shadow once again. So it seems the only one with a veil over their heads her is metal overlord
I think that's the implication since he takes 4 keys to open his gate and said gate almost feels like it's hidden on purpose. The other two are out in the open and his is in the basement so to speak.
Man you make Hard Mode look easy somehow! I love how every boss fight in this game shows off how much stronger Shadow is than in the past. He solo's Metal Overlord when that took all of the cast in Heroes to do. He beat Mephiles without taking off his inhibitor rings this time. He takes out Biolizard when it is clearly powered up and far more mobile and destructive than before. He takes on Devil Doom who has gorwn stronger in equal measure to Shaodw, without even going Super Shadow! Storytelling through gameplay.
Not gonna lie. If you check the ground during Mephiles' and the Devil Moon's boss fights, You can see there's the same liquid -ish substance Mephiles used in his boss fight. Which means Mephiles either wasn't trapped in the scepter and is trying to help Shadow defeat Black Doom to get a place back in the timeline. (Honestly plausible in my head considering how desperate he seems.) Or Black Doom is capable of recreating that same substance. (Take nothing of what I said seriously as these are only two headcanons I have.)
This is my opinion but I think they should make another Shadow game and bring back Mephiles, maybe make him the main villain maybe if Ian Flynn has a good story and maybe a new form
I love all the hard mode bosses but metal overlord made me upsetti spaghetti the most. The physics of the surfing trying to jump m back and forth with momentum in the 2D section. Try to make sure you get enough hits in and get the ramp attacks so you can skip the tail swing segment and doing all of that in one run took me awhile 😅

Poor mephilles i feel bad for the guy he wanted to be back in the sonic headline but he didn’t get to also I think it’s not fair that sonic o6 is a bad game it’s not!!!! It’s especially since princess else is sonic true love she had real feelings for him and sonic actually spoke feelings about him in the end but they didn’t get together I hope in the future there will be another sonic game where they bring back princess else’s whereat first she doesn’t remember him just like when she blew out the flames of disaster but in the end she will remember him and sonic will remember her and they will be together again forever❤❤❤️❤️
The idea that Mephiles still somehow seeks to crawl back despite being erased from history is a terrifying thought.
I guess that's the reason why Shadow doesn't remember Mephiles, but a rematch against Mephiles in this new game, it's a dream come true.
It's a shame the original Mephiles voice actor didn't reprise his role, but seeing the character back is awesome
